Love the concept of Hostile Grape! It’s a fantastic wine tasting bar. I’ve only been here a few times and they’ve all been quite enjoyable experiences. It’s hidden in the basement of M Resort in a dimly lit room. There’s literally an endless number of wine bottles(of every kind imaginable) in every direction you look… My kind of bar! There’s wine stations where you’re able to help yourself to an automatic 1 oz, 3 oz, or 5 oz pour. The prices greatly vary and can get expensive for a small tasting. In order to even sample the wine, you need to purchase and load up a card from the bar. There is a $ 5 activation fee(which I think is unnecessary) and a requirement of placing a minimum of $ 25 on the card. They also have live music on the weekends to top off the intimate wine tasting experience. A guitarist/vocalist to set the mood. As Hostile Grape is ultimately a wine tasting bar, I wouldn’t recommend this place for a wild night out. The pours add up quickly and you may find yourself loading another $ 25 onto your card. My coworker hosted her birthday party here once and I’ve also gone with a group a girlfriends. It wouldn’t be a bad place to go on a date either… Overall, as mentioned earlier, it’s definitely an enjoyable wine tasting experience! For wine lovers wanting to indulge and have a classy wine night, Hostile Grape is a phenomenal choice.

If I could use only one word to describe The Hostile Grape it would be wonderful. Upon entering this hidden jewel of a wine bar I was instantly taken by the modern minimalist décor. The lighting is low and set with a soft glow of purple. Very much a romantic, intimate atmosphere. Being that it was our first visit we were told by our very friendly and helpful server about the different wine stations. You purchase a card and load up the amount you want(min is $ 25). You then have the choice of a 1oz pour, 5oz pour(glass), or the entire bottle. The wines are organized by types and each bottle is displayed on a round table. After you enter your card, you select the wine and size you would like and the machine dispenses it. My date and I enjoyed sampling the different wines and decided to put $ 50 on our cards. The 1oz pours range anywhere from $ 2.50 to $ 15. $ 50 will give you a nice buzz but don’t expect to get smashed unless you’re sticking with the cheapest selections. After an hour of sampling we decided on a bite to eat. The Hostile Grape has a small plate menu. We each ordered a bowl of clam chowder and split an order of calamari. It was probably one of the best bowls of clam chowder I’ve had. The calamari was also delicious with a light, airy batter. It was seasoned with pepper and had a side of creamy tarragon(?) sauce. Hostile Grape also has a full bar if wine isn’t your preference. You can also order wine by the glass or bottle if trying the different stations isn’t your thing. There’s plenty of comfortable couches to lounge on. If you’re seeking a quiet, swanky, and intimate setting away from the lights and buzz of the casino then this is definitely your place. I know it’s my new favorite place.

We were staying at the M Resort and since we LUV wine we were dying to try this wine bar in the basement. First issue, they’re only open Wednesday thru Saturday… What’s up with that? We were part of a conference that ran Sunday thru Wednesday, so that really limits their ability to get great business from those attending the various conferences within this HUGE conference center. Lucky for us, we were staying several extra days, so we were able to go 3 nights in a row, and we DID!!! The first impression — this place is BEAUTIFUL and is the PERFECT wine bar! Exactly what I’d build if I were to build one. From the stave-veneered ceiling to the many amazing wine racks through-out and all the various card-enabled wine stations, and then the leather couches and small tables, this wine bar is the perfect comfy, cozy place to sit & sip! The staff was nice… the beautiful young lady who’s the sommelier was knowledgeable and friendly and ensured were had a good time. There were also two other servers who were really nice. But there was one bartender who wasn’t as friendly, he had a bad attitude and acted as if we were bothering him by asking for more food, wine, etc. The food they serve here comes from Anthony’s Steakhouse(upstairs in this hotel), so it’s amazing! It’s also offered at half-price from 7PM — 8PM, so stop in then! The heirloom tomato caprese was OUTSTANDING! They have a VAST selection of wines, most of which are available by sampling pours of 1, 3 or 5 ounces. This is a GREAT way to sample wines you might be interested in, but are generally very expensive, too much so to buy a bottle. The biggest problem we experienced and it happened over and over again was that the wine«vending machines» that do the pours seem to be inconsistent. You put your card in, see your available balance and then select the amount of wine you want poured. it instantly deducts the amount from your card, but you might not get a pour at all. The other issue I have is sometimes I got cloudy wine, which tells me there was some sort of infusion of extra air, which will make the wine go bad if it’s exposed too long. The mixed feelings come from the lack of consistent customer service amongst the staff and the lack of continuously operating machines. I really liked one particular wine, but the first night that wine was in a machine causing lots of problems and the last night, that wine(out of all others) simply didn’t work at all. We did love the atmosphere and would venture back again, especially since we’re into wine and the venue was amazing! But we heard from others in our group who weren’t impressed nor wanted to deal with the technical difficulties nor attitudes. Something the Management at The M Resort should work on! The prices were also tooooo high, especially for the single ounce pours.

So this is our first time staying at The M resort. After 4 hours on the road we wanted a few glasses of wine & cocktails to help us unwind and since it was happy hour it was perfect timing to visit this lounge on the ground level of the resort. I started off with a glass of the Reisling, Noble House, and my better half had the Classic Martini. We ordered a cheese platter as well because I did not want to get wasted drinking when I’m hungry. We were there about 20 minutes when a cute and talented young lady started performing popular tunes live. She was good too so that was pleasant for us. We ended up staying for almost 2 hours because we felt so relaxed and having a good time. This lounge has a nice décor and good lighting, ideal for date night or just a place to sit and relax. We are not overly pleased with the M resort but we like this lounge.

Before spending a half-hour at this wine bar, I wondered why it was called the Hostile Grape. Now, unfortunately, I know. First off, the M Resort is a $ 40 cab ride from the airport, which is how we arrived there from the airport, thinking it would be a quick trip for a wine-lover who had some time to kill before a flight back to LA.(The map on the website makes it look like less than a hop, skip and a jump from the Strip.) Second, you are required to buy a card from them($ 5.41, non-refundable) and put a minimum of $ 25 on it. The minimum is fine – I can drink that in ten minutes – and given the wide variety of wines to choose from(at price levels varying from $ 2.50 to $ 7.75 for 1oz tasting pours), it was easy to spend $ 25. Once I’d tasted five or six wines, I was ready to purchase 5oz pours of my two favorites, settle back in one of the plush lounge chairs and enjoy the time I had left. I approached the bar and told the bartender that I would like to put $ 16 more on my card. He looked at me rather contemptuously and said that I couldn’t: $ 25 was the minimum. Hmph, thought I, «How about zero?» I asked. He grabbed my card, turned away from me, and took it behind the bar. Maybe he deals with a lot of unknowing philistines. Maybe he was ticked off that the four people who had just walked in had sniffed at the minimum and the card fee and turned around. Maybe he’s just not a people person. Whatever the case, I had made a special, costly trip to visit his establishment and was about to spend another $ 40 to leave it. I chose not to be angry at him and decided to save my vitriol for a well-reasoned Unilocal review. For the record, I too experienced the broken machines mentioned in other reviews. One of them squirted out a fizzy spurt of wine and subtracted a fraction of a dollar from my card. When I told an(earlier) bartender about it, they fixed the problem right away and gave me a generous pour of the same wine gratis.(That’s why I’m giving the Hostile Grape two stars). I did not taste any old wines, but I would suggest storing – at the very least – the pinots at a lower temperature, because at room temperature this particular grape suffers. The selection is decent, maybe erring a bit generously towards American Cabernet. The giant room is pleasant, roomy, and dark… less cellar dark, more library dark. The other staff I encountered were more than accommodating. But I won’t be going back. There was too much hostility.

Without a doubt one of the coolest place to taste wine… Great bourbon selection and priced very reasonable as well… Rob the server is excellent… Happy hour is great and the food is great… The bottles of wines are way over priced. But for tastings such a great concept

What more can I say about this tucked away jewel at the lower level of the M Resort… I had such a fantastic time here for my birthday this past June. The ambiance is so laid back and relaxing its like drinking wine in your house!!! I can’t wait to get back to Vegas to go here!

Very chill vibe, nice ambiance. Appetizers were all delicious!(Highly recommend happy hour) They have wine tasting, as well as, a couple of lounge areas and tables if you prefer just to relax with a bottle of wine; or by the glass. Wait staff not so attentive, but it is a little dim and once you manage to grab their attention they can be very friendly. Would definitely recommend as something different.

Super swanky and ultra chic wine bar thats buried in the basement of the M Resort! I stumbled on this place when I was trying to find a cool meet up spot for me and some friends to just hang out. We didn’t want the busy and packed feeling you get anywhere on the strip and I found The Hostile Grape! Super glad we came here. The night that we came, which was Friday, was not super packed at all and there was even a live musician that played until a half hour before closing! There was ample seating and a very cool vibe going down. How it works here is that you can order wine by the glass, bottle or do the sampling. The sampling is done via a card which you purchase and load then go up to the samplers and choose the quantity you want to sample. There is a $ 5 activation fee for the card and $ 25 minimum to put on. We decided to just buy a bottle of wine and sip on that for the night. Even better, bottles at 1⁄3OFF all the time! We just had a California Merlot that night but there is an abundance of options to try with prices ranging from very reasonable to exorbitant! Our bottle probably came out to $ 20 after the discount! If you are a wine-o or just looking for a nice place to chill and wind down, just swing on by.

Came here with a friend. Beautiful place! Great acoustics! Couches! Great people. Rein Garcia rocks the wine bar with his guitar! This is a hidden little gem down below casino level. If I lived in Vegas I would definitely come here for the great lighting, great wine and low key vibe!

My girlfriends & I used to come here a lot, to listen to music & drink good wine. But last night, the performer just kept talking instead of singing! Customer service is not as great anymore! 6 months ago, I would have given this place a 4 – 5 stars for good wine, good music, good customer service, but not this time.

Only reason why I gave 3 stars is because the«new» staff is not very customer service. Tonight, March 6,2015; the performer was not very good at his performance… All he did was crack dry jokes and not sing. He is supposed to be here to sing some songs but that was the least he did. Very good wine selection here and the venue is so beautiful! Usually we get good service, but not as good tonight… The girls and I come here and used to be served by Mario, who by the way, was the epitome of good customer service!

Jackpot! My husband and I moved here earlier this year from San Diego and have been looking for a place like this. Off the strip, not overcrowded, classy but not pretentious. Those who say that service is slow clearly don’t go to many wine bars. It’s not a turn and burn kind of place. You choose your experience. You can buy the card for $ 5(which you get to keep) and load it and taste or get a glass or bottle of wine and relax. I highly recommend buying a bottle. You get 30% off and the bottle prices are very reasonable. My husband and I stopped by to check it out after dinner and only drank half the bottle we ordered so we corked it and took it home with us. There was an amazing singer the night we were there who was a pleasure to listen to, without overpowering the place. This place will be a must for date nights and when we are entertaining.

Cool place with good ambiance but terrible service! I have been here several times and no matter where you sit, unless you’re at the bar, you get horrible service. No one greeted us at our table. Then when I asked for a server, the bar back looked confused and asked me if I wanted to go to the bar to order. No one knew what kinds of cheese come on the cheese plate on the menu. Also, we bought a wine card to try wines out of the machines and every one we tried, 5 in all, were bad. When I say bad, I mean they were old. They were all good wines that had been opened way too long. The one good thing about our experience is that the manager did open all new bottles of the wines we tasted that were bad and gave us another generous taste of each.

This is a cool little place and i really like the concept. You get a wine card for $ 5.41 and you can put as much money as you want on the card. Its very spacious with a large selection of wines. There weren’t that many people but the atmosphere was great and it’s a great place to go as a group or on a date. They also have scotch/whiskey in the back and I just wished they had a larger selection. I still have my wine card so I’ll probably go back in the future.

Like wine? You’ll love the Hostile Grape. Step 1 — Talk to bartender to get a card and put some credit on it. Easy-peasy. Step 2 — Talk a gander at all of the wine choices before you go nuts, there are quite a few bottles in the racks to sample, the average sample costs $ 2.50-$ 3.00 Some go upwards of $ 5-$ 7. Step 3 — Pick a seat and enjoy! Don’t overlook the wines by the glass available at the bar and on the table menus. There is also some Rum, Whiskey, and assorted other sipping booze in the last cubicle. This is a great place to sit and talk and just relax.

This is a Hidden Gem. You go to the Cellar of the M-Resort and find this gorgeous Wine Cellar. The vibe is hip and classy. On Friday and Saturday nights there is live music. Two locals are exceptional Tim Catching and Shawn Eiferman! It is clean, feels like you are in San Francisco or Manhattan. The staff is pleasant, it is fun and relaxing. A breath of fresh air away from the Strip! A great way to enjoy tasting and good conversation! It is EXACTLY what a great wine tasting room should be!

One of our newest team members moved to Las Vegas from Napa Valley. When it comes to exposure in the vino industry, she’s got a dad 34 years in! She appreciates the fine things in life and wanted to share that with our team by creating an impromptu team building event at Hostile Grape. I’ve heard some pretty great things about this place, but never have been there, so this was a perfect opportunity! The Hostile Grape is located on the bottom level of the M Resort. It’s kind of a walk from the East parking garages, so be advised. On your way to the pool, hang a right and go even further down the stairs in the wine cellar. You will be transported to a European like hip atmosphere, intimate and and as modern as they get. The low lit purple line lighting and recess lighting makes for the ultimate date night or chill evening with friends. There are a lot of different types of seating: Bar tops, lounge chairs or tables. You have the choice to either sit at the bar for a drink or help yourself to the various wines and spirits offered. It’s actually a cool concept. You buy a card with a one time $ 5 fee, recharge your card with $ 25 increments and choose any wine or spirit you want! The automatic pours serve 1oz, 3oz or 5oz pours with various prices. For my visit, I decided to sit at the bar and get a drink there. For the smooth vibe, I chose to go with a smooth drink, the Castle Rock Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, Washington 2010 for $ 10 a glass. This was definitely a simple cab. There was a light oak taste, fruit forward with a very smooth finish. This cab can easily be paired with all sorts of meats and veggies, and would be great for cooking! After a couple of glasses, I felt like the evening was complete! There was a singer putting a light vibe to top Billboard singles. Although I don’t live in this part of tow, I will certainly be back for another round or two. Whether you’re looking for a great date night joint or a super chill evening with the friends, make your way down to Hostile. Trust me, it’s worth visiting at least once in your life!
