National Youth Sports

This is our 2^nd season of football and cheer with Nys and its worth every bit of the money. My kids are special needs with PTSD & need a calm non hostile environment and nys offers that while some of these leagues just take your money and place your kids wherever.
Anyone who is on the field is background checked (which is perfectly acceptable by me) Here today gone tomorrow. I have seen Nys coaches team moms parents kids all pull together to make sure kids are not left without protective gear mouthpieces etc They have fundraising events almost every weekend for individual teams for uniforms equipment making it easier for families who have more then one child or wouldn’t be able to afford sports.
Best part is watching the kids learn their plays make so much progress each game then go to San Diego and play their heart out against other great teams and end the season with our football family!

My boys have played for the last 3 years in flag football, great introduction to learn before going into Tackle.

Been with NYS for a while now, love all the guys in the office very helpful at all times. If anyone knows about camp leagues and the time it takes dealing with kids plus parents this place is grade A. Good job NYS.

This is a great organization for kids and parents interested in being involved and active! The staff is extremely accommodating and personable. The convenience of registration nights and extended hours makes a usually tedious process of signing kids up much simpler. With the wide variety of sports offered with NYS there’s no reason to look any further!

Very friendly staff. They are always there to answer any and all questions. They offer sports year round, so it’s a great way to let your child try different sports, without the commitment and pricing like those of club teams.
They really care for the kids and the experience they have. This league has greatly improved in the last few years.

My family has been with NYS since 2003 when my first child played soccer at the age of 3. Sure, there have been some seasons that are rockier than others, but if you are putting time into your child’s extracurricular activities, you might as well volunteer your assistance with whatever the team may need. There is a lot of planning and effort to ensure that a season runs smoothly. (to alleviate the many stresses that we have had, my husband has volunteered to be Coach for 5+ seasons of different sports that are offered). Please also remember that the amount of teams is far more than the practice fields available, so organizing practice and game locations can be tricky.
Since 2003, my kiddos have played soccer, basketball, tball, coach pitch baseball, flag football and tackle football.
Competitive pricing, organization has improved throughout the years, and so has the Henderson office location-​it was almost impossible to find the old location on Horizon Ridge.
A great way to let your child try different sports, without the commitment and pricing like those of club teams.

NYS has been so helpful. My daughter absolutely loves playing tball. It was very easy to sign her up. I’m very happy

A little unorganized and preferential treatment given to certain teams/​coaches. Our daughters participate in the girls volleyball program. NYS divides skill level by recreation and elite leagues. However, the NYS league does not place children by a skill assessment or tryout of any sort. Basically, you have brand new players in the Elite league or someone who can’t serve the ball over the net. It’s just sad! It makes me think this program is just about money.

NYS is an absolute joke. They charge an insane amount for their sports and provide nothing for the money. There are no practice fields provided and the fields used for games are run down and horrible. The refs are the worst I have seen, and my children have played in a few different leagues. The refs pretend they are in the NFL or something, they have huge egos and power trips and completely favor coaches/​teams that play along. The business is completely disorganized with maybe 2 or 3 people in charge of dozens of teams. There is no communication, no one seems to know or follow any of their own rules. There are SO MANY better options for youth sports here in Vegas. Avoid this «organization» at all costs.

Our family has been with NYS for 10 years and watched many other leagues come and go in that time. We’ve had our 3 children in soccer and tackle football. In the beginning we weren’t happy with the organization or office staff but with the turn over a few years ago everything has improved a ton! Sign up is easy and convenient especially since they offer registration nights close to my home. Fees are reasonable once your kids are set on a sport and have all the equipment. It is volunteer run but if you have involved parents it shouldn’t be a problem!

Signed my daughter up for volleyball. So far we have been impressed by the coach (volunteer dad). My main complaint is with their so called volleyball skills workshop that was held today. When we got here we found it isn’t run by NYS but by a competing organization Vegas Athletic Dept which is conveniently run by the husband of the indoor sports coordinator. They are really just assessing our girls for the club play which is $ 100/​month. There are way too many participants, it’s just show up and come, and not nearly enough coaches or teaching going on. It started late and they were going to dismiss early as well when we paid and it was advertised as a 2 hour workshop. The best part is that the man running Vegas Athletic Dept was bashing NYS and the way they run their teams and really promoting his own organization. They advertised this at nys meetings and via email and then we get here they are encouraging us to leave NYS for their group. Seems really tacky and fishy. The NYS employee is here wearing a Vegas Athletic shirt. I would prefer they be open and clear about the purposes and intents of the clinic.

This is a PARENT volunteer organization. Volunteer meaning that it’s possible your coach may not even show up or you may have to be moved to another team if your coach flakes. There are no refunds under any circumstances. That being said, good luck!

I do appreciate that Michael replied, although years have passed, this year we tried NYS for football and soccer (different kids at the same time through Las Vegas not HD) and it is the same! Good luck parents, there are a lot of programs out there to choose from and I chose poorly twice! I do however appreciate the parents that take the time to coach, and the parents who are team moms organizing snacks etc, they are great and really give SO much. Of course I ordered trophies again, and called the trophy company to make sure the orders went in okay. They rec’d football, but said no order for soccer, I called the coach, no answer, called NYS and they had no clue (really). Barely got it figured out by the end of the season. The season: everyone else was done when school got out, but we had games for 2 more weeks! My kids didn’t want to miss their games, but when summer is here it’s time to STOP. Lots of entertainment at the games at Ed Fountain Park with the refs fighting with each other and parents of kids (because of flirting with mom’s… ghetto trash) Maybe the extended season and crazy heat for the games at 3 pm got to them too!

My son has played tackle football with NYS for a few years. The sign up process is easy, affordable and most importantly organized. We appreciate the ease and convenience of their processing. They keep the teams in order but establishing sound rules, regulations, and schedules. We always have officials when we are suppose to and never find ourselves without a field. I am definitely a huge fan and supporter of NYS

Unorganized. Refs calls are based on how intimated the coaches make them. It’s a shame some of these coaches teach the kids to play dirty. You don’t have to play dirty to win… guess they do. Refs should put a stop to it but they don’t and neither do the so called NYS officials out there.

Ridiculous is the only word I can say. The team is here to take pics… along w/​100 more other teams @ the same damn time. And to top the cake, it’s a Tuesday & picture time was scheduled for 8pm! It’s 8:30 on & we still haven’t taken pics yet. This organization is NOT the best at all! #$$$$$

Just relocated and our 1^st season with NYD we are really excited. The NYS staff is friendly with parents & the kids. They are prompt in addressing questions & concerns. The price point is reasonable & my child’s experience is worth every dime! If you are looking to get your child involved in a team building, socialization teaching, fun environment I highly recommend NYS Nevada

NYS football has improved dramatically.
To be completely fair, i have usually had a severe distaste for NYS and left for another league due to multiple issues i had regarding organization, and player safety.
However due to multiple football leagues folding my tackle football team begrudgingly returned to nys.
Overall i must say they have made vast improvements, and have made good on the promise of improving their youth football product.
I have to give you guys kudos on fixing what was broken. Too many organizations would not take the time to listen or care enough to put the time into correcting the deficiencies.

This is our second attempt and rather than kid pitch baseball we are venturing into flag football. I can say our experiences are quite similar and are very thankful that we’ve been paired with mostly engaged families and wonderful coaches! NYS does bring a bit of disorganization and seemingly doesn’t offer much responsibility other than the bare minimum for the cost. The equipment they provide is bare minimum! We always end up buying training equipment for the kids to participate in practice drills. There are a lot of ancillary costs involved if you want to give your kids a personal experience. By the way, we enjoyed the Henderson City Baseball League better than 2 other leagues we tried… The uniform is a uniform appropriate to the sport, not a tee shirt. It is included, however, if you want your name printed on the kersey’s it was an additional $ 7. If you wanted coordinating shorts, pants, or socks there were separate costs per item but you also had the choice of acquiring your own. Trophies and pictures are also by preference and the Henderson League did also charge for these items separately. There is a lot of work involved for the coaches and team coordinator (typically ‘team mom’). Making sure to coordinate all these factors are up to the parents that volunteer into these positions as NYS only takes team payments from one individual’s account. So one person is left to collect the monies from the others and be responsible for the payments. One person to pick up these items from their offices (usually the team mom or coaches). It is also up to the parents to decide on a location for practice, usually a city park that are First come first serve policies. You will need to pay additionally to reserve a space. It can be difficult to obtain the proper space in a field for practice. Between the other teams, other sports, recreational users, dog park users and whatever else… I do agree that the patrons should receive more bang for their buck and they can definitely get better organized.
