Much better than scrolling through the same Netflix films over and over again. Here you can argue about movies while the store clerk silently judges you, like it should be.
Movies and Candy boasts a decent selection of DVDs and Blurays. The boxes are organized by genre and are not alphabetized, but the clerk can look up and find anything specific that you might want.
They have some fun cult/​B-​movies. A quick perusal and my eye caught Holy Mountain, Dead End Drive-​In, and countless bikini babes battling various monstrosities.
Their candy selection – butterscotch discs, cowtails, weird Disney princess lollipops – it’s more like your grandma’s nasty candy dish.
If they upped their candy game, I would definitely give it 5 stars.

Excellent resource extremely friendly, brings back the days and feel of hometown movie rental shops! Always has the latest releases and if he doesnt, he’ll get them for you! Much better than redbox and has the tittles that netflix lacks! Been going here for a year and never disappointed

There’s still an old-​school movie-​rental spot around? Damn, too bad it’s literally 30 miles away from home! Once the initial novelty wore off here, it was underwhelming, but I’d come around and enjoy this spot if the distance weren’t an issue…
But there’s no organization to the madness! I like hunting for treasure at local book shops and thrift stores, but here, there’s horror in the comedy section, comedy in the drama, and no alphabetization or any identifiable organization system in place at all. In the words of a favorite meme, «Can’t [find] shit, Captain!»
And the candy. Ugh. The barrels ringing the room are (barely) stocked with a few basic types– mostly old school varieties you’d pick over and leave behind in your childhood Halloween bag. I don’t see the appeal. Stock unique foreign candies or the hard-​to-​find stuff instead– and keep it fresh!
Service is hard to come by. I browsed for several minutes and was never greeted or helped. But I realized the massive disorganization in place and inquired about a particular DVD, and was helped by the dude at the counter. Their rental pricing might be cool (on par with RedBox) but their purchase prices aren’t going to win them any fans ($ 20 for a basic 2009 comedy?!).

Had heard a lot of great things about this place and decided it was time to check it out, that was a great call. What a throwback, back to the mom & pop video stores of my younger days, with a huge inventory and great décor, I was hooked immediately. Some movies for sale, but Ya gotta rent, yes, rent movies. Better than Redbox because you are supporting a local, small business owner, met Trevor, awesome to meet someone with the same passion for movies as me. He found a movie we discussed and I checked it out, instead of paying an inflated OOP price to own. There is also a large variety of candy to choose from. This was a hidden gem, I’m glad I took the time to investigate. Thanx Trevor!!!

It’s a novelty place. Took me back in time. Candy was stale. Had a decent movie selection. Owner was fun. Want to rent the private movie theater.

I took my Girl Scout troop here for a fun field trip. The girls enjoyed the bean bag chairs and the popcorn. The price was reasonable and their customer service was great! Trevor is awesome!

This is both a neat and strange little place. It’s quite small. When you walk in, there a couple of aisles of DVDs for rent or purchase. They are not arranged alphabetically or anything. They are somewhat arranged by decade, but then within that, there’s no rhyme or reason to them. And the decades only go up to the 80s. It was really confusing. I finally gave up and asked the one staffer behind the register. She was… odd. Pleasant and helpful, but odd. She looked up the movies I wanted in their system and then found them for me. Tip: Don’t bother browsing. Know what you’re looking for when you come in and just proceed to the desk/​register to get them. The cost is about $ 2 a night, so only $ 0.50 more than Redbox. What really wins here is the movies they have in-​stock. If you’re looking for something older, this is your spot. We got the original 70s Freaky Friday and Newsies from the 90s. There is also a lot of candy in barrels all around the store. It just almost $ 8 for just under a lb. of it. Can’t say that was worth it. Plus, most of it turned out to be stale. Tip: Skip the candy. All in all, I like this spot for the selection and the concept is neat. But it’s difficult to navigate and the candy is old.

This place just stole my heart the first time I came in with my family. The nostalgia of searching the shelves for a movie is a bit of simplicity that I feel is lacking with the easy access of everything we do today. They have a great selection of retro candy and sodas that add to the overall experience. They have a pretty good selection of movies and great deals. One of the deals is five movies for five nights for five bucks… awesome. Really cool couple that own the place that are as nice and helpful as they come. We want to rent out the theater they have there for parties or just a movie night… the surround sound is awesome in there! Anytime I go in I can’t help but feel a bit sad that more people don’t know about this place. The only thing I will say is that if you’re in a rush and looking for a particular movie that instead of trying to find it yourself just go ask the guy at the front for it and he’ll have it ready for you right away. If you’re not in a rush– take your time looking and enjoy the nostalgia and all things wonderful that make up ‘Movies and Candy’.

I’m pretty disappointed. We came at 12:30 because it says 12 – 9 for their store hours today. We saw the note on the door that said it will open at 1 today (see picture posted). So we hung around till 1 with a couple other folks. It is now 1:16 and still no one here. Very disappointed. I’m a very loyal customer and always recommend this place to my friends, but now I don’t know. It seems very unprofessional to leave people waiting. If you run a business and say you will open at a certain time, open at the time. Blah very upset :(

Stumbled upon this store while in the area tonight; absolutely loved this store! Reminded me of my childhood with the candy and movie choices. He has SO many classics from each decade! The owner Trevor was awesome!

Movie aficionados rejoice!!!
This place is made for movie lovers like me who believe the idea that renting movies from a mom&pop shop can still be a fun experience. The shop is very nostalgic with nicely decorated movie posters, movie memorabilia and delicious candy. Reminds me of the movie Be Kind & Rewind.
They have a vast selection of new and old movies to choose from. By chance if the movie is not available Trevor will try to get it for you. Plus, they even have a nice movie theater inside so you can enjoy watching your rented movie.
Trevor and Kate are one of the nicest people you will meet. They are very passionate and knowledgeable about movies. They will gladly help you find a movie and/​or give you their suggestions for other ones. Lots of times when I don’t know what to rent I will ask Trevor for his advice and he will recommend a couple movies. Some are good, some are bad but the cool thing is afterwards when I’m done watching it we will have a discussion about the films and it becomes an enjoyable experience.
That’s why I love this place!

You mean to tell me you can still rent movies from a actual movie store instead of a big red box? Yes! Yes you can! Movies and candy is just that. Movies and candy. Well they have other things too. You can rent not only new releases but older movies as well. They sell candy by the pound and also movie snacks of course. You can also have a movie party here. They have a movie theatre in the back of the store with theatre style seats and a cool red curtain to hide behind. Lol. The owners are super friendly and lenient when it comes to returning items a little late unless they are in need of the item immediately. Just don’t take advantage and remember this is a business they are running.
Check them out if you’re looking for a specific movie, just call and ask if it’s in stock or if they have it. They are more than happy to check over the phone for you. If you’re looking for nostalgia you’ll find it here.

A true experience! Reminds me a bit of 90’s movie store scenes, makes me feel super nostalgic! Definitely the coolest vibe around. EXCELLENT movie selection. This is such an awesome find! I really wish more people would discover this spot. It really took me back to being a kid and going to the movie store. They have an amazing selection of movies and even a really cool theater area in the back if the store. The people that I spoke with inside were really friendly and welcoming too. Overall a great experience! I’ll definitely be coming back!

Movies are very unorganized. (I used to work as blockbuster and alphabetizing the store didn’t take long, so this store shouldn’t be that hard)
Would like a section where memorabilia is for sale.
Needs signs to make it clear what is for rent and what is for sale.

I had no idea this place was here. Randomly found it once day when I was trying to find a new place for lunch.
I’ve been here a few times, and I love it. Great for finding those movies you can’t get at Red Box. But they also have some new releases as well.
The Bf is on a mission to show me all the Marvel movies in chronological order so we’ll definitely be back for more. So far he’s only been out of one movie that we wanted, Wolverine Origins (the library didn’t have it either — what’s the deal?) Anyway, he said he should have it in a week or so.
Great selection! We’ve also been renting some oldie movies that I haven’t seen. Showgirls! I wasn’t missing much, lol.
This place also has movies & collectibles for sale. Was able to get my mom a few early Christmas presents. Love that! Keep up the good work, Movies & Candy! Also, pretty cool that you can rent out the theatre. I saw last time we were there and it looks pretty nice. Might have to try that some day.

FINALLY!!! My long search for a brick and mortar movie rental establishment is over.
For years I had been tired of being driven to renting movies from Red Box, watching Netflix or searching on YouTube. The comfort of walking into a building where you can rent the newest movies, cult classics, horror, sci-​fi and even classic Hollywood films. The fact that you don’t have to settle for a very limited selection or have to wait 3 months to be able to rent new theater releases is so refreshing. Plus, the owner is a complete soda buff which to me is great because he always has some great selections if craft sodas. They also carry a good variety of candies so if you’re going to make it a movie night at home, this is a one stop shop.
The only down side, yet it won’t prevent me from going, is that it is a bit far from the east side of town where I live in. I would love it of this place would be successful enough to open up a second or even third location in town. Hopefully one day, but for now, I’m still happy that this place exists.

Who knew I’d miss video/​movies stores so much!!!
They have a huge selection of movies to choose from (we rented Thor: The Dark World & Oblivion) and plenty of movie memorabilia to buy (life-​size Captain Jack Sparrow… Yes please!).
Just a side note, grab the movie box you want even if it is blu ray box. They only put out the empty boxes. We grabbed Thor DVD and Oblivion blu ray, but ended up getting the opposite (The staff will tell you if it’s blu ray or DVD before you rent it).
My husband went nuts for all the candy selections (cowtails to starbusrts), but I am a salt fan and didn’t see many popcorn purchase options (even the microwave kind).
They have a cool theatre in the back you can rent out at $ 10 or so per person that includes popcorn.
I love supporting local businesses and this business was a great combination of candy movies and community.

I have no idea how anyone could write something bad about something so pure and good. This place is nostalgia personified. When I walked in I immediately and strangely felt so at home. You younger ones (god, I date myself) don’t remember VHS and the time before Blockbuster, but I do and it was a magical time. This store gives me a little of that and I’m loving it.
Went over to the new section, I wasn’t feeling it for the oldies tonight (but I love them and I will be back to rent those next time — they have a ton!), and found five Blu-​rays just like that. Perfect. The very kind owner gave me a big discount for it being my first time which pretty much ensures my loyalty, but really it was just the personal touch that really got me here. His wife was also there and they were just so nice. No pretense, just people who love what they do and want you to love it too. I’m there.
Also, this place was PACKED. There was non-​stop traffic if this tells you anything about how great this place is. Seriously.
So, great place to pick up your favorite candy and some great movies and feel like you used to before technology got a stranglehold on you and made you lazy! I love this place. I’m planning on getting friends together and renting a movie, pulling a cooler full of beer in and enjoying their real live theater as my own! So fun!
Get here, it’s everything you think it will be and more! I can see this being my new movie addiction!

Take a Redbox movie dispensing machine with no personality AND BLOW IT UP! Now take those blasted bits and more and make a store. Mix with a bunch of charm, then add a heaping serving of movies. Next, add multiple dashes of small business. Flambé with a entrepreneurial flame and add a dash of candy. Wah-la…you get Movies & Candy.
Stopped in with the boy before he got some hairs cut (from our barber that is conveniently located next door) to explore.
I did not get to meet Trevor and Katie (owners) but I did get to meet Trevor’s mom. She greeted us as we walked through the door and was so very pleasant. She gave me a run down on what M&C was all about.
They rent movies for a dollar a day. New releases which are two dollars a day. A list of the new movies can be found behind the register. Different areas of the store contain whatever genre of movie you are looking for. I particularly liked the section which included the 100 classics. Probably not the AMC list of classics but I sure as hell recognized many that are in my own metal list of classics.
The also have a cornucopia of other «classic» movies for sale. If memory serves I believe it was one movie for four dollars and three for ten dollars.
There is other movie-​esque items for sale at the listed price.
The candy which is situated about the store is varied mix match of yumminess. A one pound bag will cost you $ 7.50 a pound. I walked with about $ 4 of peanut butter cups, chick-​o-​sticks and candy apple suckers.
We had the pleasure of watching a little girl who came in with her mom act literally like a kid in a candy store. Adorable!
They have an cozy home style theater for rent. It will cost you (forgive me) about $ 7 – 8 a person. You can even bring in a pizza or WINE and watch a movie with a group or a loved one. «The Sound Of Music» was playing and I very much would have enjoyed sitting on the couch or recliner style movie seats but I had other things to do. However, I will be back.
Trevor’s mom told me that pretty much all the movies you see in the store came from his personal movie collection. Impressive! I can’t wait to meet you and chit chat.
