Okay, so Hebron is a very small town. One of those places you might not even realize you’ve passed through if you drove a little too fast on the highway. So, what do you imagine the library is going to be like? Let me guess… You’re imagining a one floor, maybe two or three moderately sized conjoined rooms, metal bookshelves and not much of a selection, right? Actually, this one isn’t anything like that. The building is just gorgeous. Lots of pretty little arches and cornices, nice looking windows and stone work. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. It’s bi-level, with most of the kiddie stuff downstairs. The upstairs has a very classic look, with wooden benches and desks amid the stacks and a sizeable selection of texts. There’s quite a few librarians working behind multiple counters. The building appears to be of recent design, maybe something from the middle 1990’s. Everything is brand new and very modern looking. I do not know a whole lot about Hebron, Indiana. Judging this town by it’s library, however, I can assure you these are some very well-read people out here in the sticks.
