History

Established in 2004.

In 2003 we visited friends on Newfound Lake and fell in love with the area, with the house and the community. The house is too big for two, so we figured if we made it a bed and breakfast people could share the joy and help pay the mortgage. We joined PAII to learn our new profession and modeled our service on our best travel experiences. Coppertoppe evolved quickly, and the principle works. Like hugs and love, the more we share this wonderful place, the more we have to share. We filled Coppertoppe with books, art, music, games, toys, plants, fun and the best beds, linens, amenities and food. Every day we wake up happy and excited to welcome and pamper guests (who often become friends). We love children and animals, so it’s a treat when they come and have fun with us. Newfound Lake is heaven (see NLRA.org), the neighbors are kind and interesting, and New Hampshire is a good fit for our values. After almost 7 years, we are still excited about being here. Every day is a gift.

Meet the Business Owner

Sheila O.

Business Owner

Co-owner, designated CEO, chef, gardener, marketer and spokes-person, Sheila has never had so much fun. Cooking for groups has been a hobby, from a rock concert rice kitchen, to Green Room and Staff Den at F/SF cons, to feeding a stream of teens at home, it’s all good. Growing herbs for natural healing and cooking has been an interest since her teens, and sharing that with guests is a pleasure. As a writer, she has been happy to work in a variety of industries, mostly small businesses and non-profits. The care and feeding of entrepreneurs, scientists and techies, like herding cats, is challenging and fun. Sheila has been active in Toastmasters since 1973 and enjoys public speaking, moderating and organizing panels, and mentoring speakers. She shares T’ai Chi, Tarot, energetic healing and ancient wisdoms by hosting retreats, seminars and discussions at Coppertoppe, conventions and local groups. She also likes to host cooking classes, wine and cheese pairings, jewelry making and repair.
