Motor Vehicle Commision of Hazlet

I’ve been to the Hazlet DMV twice in the past for different reasons. Both times, the women of the DMV knocked it out of the park. They were exceptionally helpful at every counter, very timely and quite nice. I remember the days in Eatontown, where you took a number and waited to get yelled at, told you were in the wrong line or basically ignored. Thank You for being so nice and taking care of my needs quickly and efficiently.

As with all DMVs, it is a painful experience. Expect long waits, regardless if you go during non-​peak times (e.g. lunch time). They shuttle you back and forth amongst different lines.

they have recently (in the last year) changed the renewal process. wait on the first line which is FOREVER in the middle of the day on a monday. 2’people helping everyone. slow as molasses and their personality leaves a lot to be desired. they then make sure you have all 6 points you need and shuttle you off for a picture.

go online and make sure you have what you need. I am not sure how this day in age people come to RENEW and don’t know about the paperwork you need. how did you get the license in the first place?

Does it sound crazy to be a fan of a DMV? Maybe. But the DMV at Hazlet is by far the most competent DMV that I’ve been to. It’s a closely-​guarded secret. In Monmouth County, you can only take road tests in the Eatontown DMV. That’s where I got mine. Each time I had to go back to update my liscence was a real pain.
Then, my twin brother found out there was a DMV in nearby Hazlet. Since all Monmouth drivers pass through the Eatontown location, many are unaware of the Hazlet location. This translates into short lines. I’ve been there several times, including when I turned 21. On that occasion, I was in and out of the Hazlet DMV in less than 25 minutes. And that includes the processing of my new lisence. They are very efficient there. This does not mean that they smile, or are friendly. This is a DMV afterall. But being at the DMV is generally awful, but the Hazlet DMV really steps it up. Not planning on returning to the Eatontown DMV unless absolutely necessary.
Just note that they close at 5:30 every day during the workweek, except for Tuesday, when they close at 7:30. They’re also conveniently open until one on Saturdays.
Don’t go to Eatontown, come here! (But not too many of you because I want the lines to stay short)
