Kazia’s Asian Grab n Go

I love this place. Their bubble tea is awesome. They have all kinds of East Asian snacks. AND animé and pandas. What else could you possibly ask for.

I had the wings here they are not bad. They look big because they are doubled dipped.
The Honey garlic were not that great nor the teriyaki ones. I did however liked the sweet and spicy ones. I did not try the soy n ginger ones yet.
It is not your normal Chinese restaurant they do have a hot food bar. And grab and go section looked alright. They are also a grocery store in the back.

If you’re looking for authentic chinese/​japanese/​thai cuisine, it’s not at Kazia’s. But that’s not a bad thing. Kazia’s is one of the better places around here if you’re looking for what you might characterize as «asian» food. It’s got your staples of americanized chinese, japanese, and thai food, prepared ably and ready to go. Originally, they operated purely as a grocery/​grab and go (in other words, all cold, prepared food, in nice little microwaveable containers)
Recently, they’ve shifted into having more always-​hot (read: stir fry kept warm in a sort of buffet setup) and made-​to-​order foods, such as the wings.
My advice? Go for the wings and the poppers. The sauces are all pretty good. Not that the other stuff is bad – as I said, it’s about as good as you’ll get here with your «asian» fare. It’s just that the wings and poppers are better.
Another thing: The grocery is pretty well-​stocked. If you need an ingredient for chinese/​japanese/​thai cooking, they will like have it. They’ve also got a variety of foreign snacks, which I have found make for a nice gift.

I’m glad I saw the new sign on the highway reading Kazia Rae’s Chicken! The concept of heating up your food isn’t the best idea but now these guys have hot food choices and a fantastic idea… Asian fried wings and legs! This is the product that will bring crowds to this tiny half dry food store half take out eatery.
Let’s start with the interior! It’s bright and roomy, lots of places to sit lots of condiments free samples all the good stuff!
The chicken menu takes a little getting use to but you will get it quickly. There are 4 types of coating/​sauces honey garlic teriyaki sweet and spicy and well one other that escaped my memory. The wing sections are huge meaty and delicious. I didn’t try the legs this time but there was a few in the case that looked great! The coating was thick and crispy just excellent. Sides are white rice an Asian salad Asian fries or veggie fried rice. I had the simple veggie fried rice which was just adequate but the rice grains them self were not ordinary. They use a short grain rice that seems to be a higher quality than most the take out places serve. I doctored mine up with some of the sauces they have for you to sample.
I noticed they dropped their outrageous convenience store prices on all of their items. Now the Asian ingredients and frozen products are fairly priced. It would be tough for me to give up my trips to the Asian market on Rt 35 in Middletown but in a pinch I know if I need some wonton wrappers or sesame oil I can stop here.
I believe in second chances and Kasia Cash and carry got theirs with their fried chicken. Now if they start selling breast thighs and buckets I’ll make this my regular stop for an alternative to KFC.

My wife and I tried Kazia’s after seeing an advertisement about it. I liked the idea of bubble tea without going very far. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. My wife gave them feedback about the tarot bubble tea and they took the feedback gracefully. Classic tarot tea you expect would be similar to their purple passion. I probably won’t buy to go packages very often but we tried the sushi and it was good. I can see myself going over there for an asian food item if I don’t have time to drive to marlboro or edison. Prices of food was higher than those you can get from a asian grocery but that’s not surprising with higher overhead costs. (sushi is buy one, get one 50% off after 5 pm at the time of our visit)
The 4 stars is for the service, pleasant interaction with staff and owners and potential in the future. Nice to have some new diversity and new ideas in the local area. Hopefully this concept of part asian convenience store, bubbletea, meals to go place succeeds or they adapt to the market needs.

Ok if you’re in Hazlet and you’re looking for a quick bite and asian beverages /​bubble tea then this place is for you. It’s basically a small asian 7 – 11 with business hours. There’s pre prepared Chinese /​Japanese food in the refrigerated section in the front. There’s made to order bites in the back, small snack and processed food grocer section (ie instant ramen, asian sauces, chips, cookies, chocolates), and bubble tea, hot /​cold teas, smoothies, coffees (hot/​cold). They can customize your drink with flavoring and sweetness. There’s even a reward card that tracks your beverage order and rewards for your loyalty. There’s a microwave to heat up your refrigerated purchases and tables in the front.
I can only comment on my bubble tea purchases. My wife enjoyed it the first time but not the second time. My gripe is it wasn’t cold enough and the boba was either too hard or too soft the times we went. Can’t comment on the food. The teas are OK — you can do worse.
The place is clean — I guess because it recently opened — and the staff friendly. The staff greets you and gives you a tour of their store and concept. I was taken aback to see mostly Caucasians serving the food and ownership /​management. Probably would come back if in the area.

I love trying new things and they have a unique business model, but that’s the downfall. MAD EXPENSIVE and tastes like greasy microwaved garbage. I like supporting local businesses but my boyfriend feels like he just got robbed of $ 40.00. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. That’s what I gave the one star for.

Never really got around in making a review until now, so as promised to the owners, I’m gonna finally review the place! My friends and I came here during Spring Break because we were looking for a cool Asian Market that sold some snacks you can’t find elsewhere in the mainland. Being from Hawai’i, it’s hard to find Asian goods in the east coast and shipping some from home cost a lot, so finding this place was a gem.
The owners were great and the workers welcomed us with great customer service. They brought a panda guy out and the person inside danced his life away (kudos to you). It was awkward at first, but it made for a friendly environment. The owner wanted us to dance with the panda and with a lot of convincing, we danced with the panda, which was cool. A little weird, but it was something to talk about on the ride back home.
The food, a little different from what I expected. Came into the store thinking it was going to be made fresh, but it was already packaged. Had to microwave it and what not, so that kind of took away from the excitement. However, I have this whole entire mantra of «you can’t knock it till you try it» kind of thing with food. Got the ramen and sushi. The ramen was great, not gonna lie; however, I wish it was made fresh. I’m not a fan of microwaving food, it was hard to wrap my head around microwaving it. So maybe, making it fresh could be a suggestion rather than having it cold and microwaving it? Also, I’m big fan of bubble tea, so I had to try it. I ordered the thai tea, it was good for what it offered. I don’t like sweet things, so I was able to choose whether I wanted it sweet or more on the bitter side. That was a plus!
Finally, I bought some asian snacks and even though they are pricey, what can you expect? You can’t really find green tea kitkats at a cheap price, so it didn’t really surprise me. But it made my spring break to have acquired green tea kitkat.
So overall, it’s a good place, but it has so much potential to be great! Hope there will be improvements in the future!

Kazia’s is alright. It’s a family business with the same owners as iHOP in Keyport, Moore Yarn, and The Belly Flop Café in the Hazlet Swim & Tennis club. Kazia is actually their daughter’s name so it’s named after her. It’s a nice set up and very organized. There are daily sales and you can get a free sample on almost anything. But this place is very pricey. You can get better sushi at Shoprite for a cheaper price. If you’re unfamiliar with bubble tea (like I was) you don’t really know what flavors to get and what will go with each other since there are so many flavors. Mine ended up tasting like medicine and I had strawberry watermelon. However I don’t like the idea of just microwaving the meals. Not ideal for a restaurant business, it should be already prepared. Also the 5 dancing pandas are over the top and kind of annoying. They take pandas way too seriously.

This was my third visit to Kazia’s Grab and Go. Nestled in the busy Airport Plaza on Route 36 in Hazlet, this is another of the awesome small businesses owned by the former owners of the nearby IHOP– as well as my former boss from so many years ago (can it really be more than 10 years!), not that he really remembers me, but I like it better that way.
On my first visit I was treated to the Grand Tour by a very friendly, and well-​trained employee. Here is the fresh sushi, brought in daily and half off after 5pm. I’m not brave enough to try the stuff in the supermarket, and this variety didn’t seem much different, but for those of who you aren’t as picky I can see the convenience of it. Another refrigerated area is host to dim sum, a variety of prepared Asian specialities like fried rice, lo mein, soups, and dumplings. These are prepared fresh daily and change at the same rate. There is a mystical magic involved in their packaging which is supposed to make them taste better after being microwaved.
Back here is a station where you can concoct your own three part bubble tea, and get made to order spring rolls with an eclectic variety of filling– cheesesteak, pork roll egg and cheese, taco, and macaroni and cheese (there’s also one with bacon) just to name a few. More on those later. My tour guide took extra care to teach me about the bubble tea station to make sure I understood how it all worked.
In the rear, there a few shelves of items you’d find at an Asian Grocery, plus a decent frozen and refrigerated section. My guide informed me that unsold fresh food takes a circuit in the frozen section, and made a careful point of letting me know everything was dated for freshness. Noodles of all kinds, spice packets, sauces, sushi and jasmine rice, along with all your favorite Asian sweet treats fill this area. The refridgerator boasts not only a variety of Asian delights, but also some hard to get beverages, including my favorite Ramune sodas.
There is a long station near the sitting area in the front of the store with various condiments, utensils, napkins and whatever you might need to compliment your meal. If you love sauces, then this place is for you. I think there were at least ten (maybe more) sauces that they invite you to try.
I’ve only purchased things I was familiar with in the past. I’m not a fan of microwaved cuisine, even though I know that technology has made huge advances in this particular area. Today, however, with a shipment arriving from FreshDirect this evening that included a chicken with broccoli meal kit, I decided Kazia would provide me with the compliments to the meal. I got shrimp shumai, a few pork buns, a bag of jasmine rice, and some Ramune soda. Since I was pretty hungry, I also got one of the special spring rolls. They were out of mac’n’cheese and bacon, so I settled for the straight mac’n’cheese spring roll. They handed it to me, still hot, in a waxed paper bag that doubled as a sheath for me as I devoured the thing on my way home. The wrapper was crispy and light, a taste that only comes from clean frying oil, and the filling was delicious. I meant to take a picture of it when I got home, but it didn’t make it that far.
I like Kazia. It doesn’t really fit a need that I have very often, but I think it has real potential. Having an Asian grocery store so nearby is super convenient, but one of the only cons is that it’s significantly more expensive that the one on Route 79 in Marlboro. The only thing that could make me frequent this place more often is if there was sushi served to order, even if it was only at certain times of day. Oh. and if they decided to expand to Ramen, I might be a regular.
I wish Kazia all the best, and while I can’t say I’ll be back all the time, I’m sure I’ll stop in every now and then.

Bizarre concept, but it works.
This place is owned by the former owners of the local IHOP. They really are nice people and really know the community.
The place is divided into 3 parts. Prepared food, Asian food market, and Bubble Tea.
First of all, I don’t know what bubble tea is, nor have I ever had it anywhere so I won’t comment. That section has specialty egg rolls that I’d like to try at some point.
The Asian food section seemed pretty well stocked. I grabbed some Asian bon bon things that were pretty good, but expensive. Again, I don’t know much about being in an Asian food market, so I really have no comment on the pricing compared to other Asian markets.
As far as the sushi section goes, yes, it is brought in from somewhere else. They seem to have most of the common stuff, but its pretty expensive and looks to be about ShopRite quality. I wouldn’t be surprised if they sourced it from the same place. It is about 15% hight priced than the average takeout place or grocery store.
I have never ordered prepackaged sushi from anywhere so I can’t comment on quality. Like it said, its pricey for what it is. I’d recommend a number of local Japanese places for better sushi.
The prepared food section of it is most intriguing. Before going in, I kept wondering «Why would anyone buy prepared cold Chinese food? Why not buy from a regular place and reheat it?» Very strange. I’m also one of those people that hates reheating things in the microwave. I’d rather eat something cold.
They had a very wide variety of things that apparently changes all the time. A typical dish with a meat/​rice/​vegetables is around 9 – 10 bucks. Thats a little high considering most Chinese restaurants have 6 – 7 dollar lunch specials.
I grabbed a chicken dish and took it home. First, I attempted to eat it cold, but the rice was very dry and hard, almost like it wasn’t done. I then remembered that somehow they prepare it so its better in the microwave.
I went ahead and heated it up for 2 minutes. I don’t know what kind of witchcraft they are doing in there, but wow… it was REALLY good. The rice and chicken tasted like they just came out of the pan. It had excellent flavor and definitely didn’t taste like something just taken out of the microwave.
So yeah, its a very bizarre concept, but it somehow works. I’ll definitely give it another shot. They are open pretty early in the morning so I’ll definitely grab something before I go to work to eat for lunch. I get what they are trying to do with the whole «Grab N Go» concept, but you really have to try it to really understand it.
Its a little pricey and it is a strange concept, but I’d highly recommend giving it a chance

This place is awesome! The selection is great and fresh! The mini store has a great selection to choose from. Though I’m not into the bubble tea thing, the kids love it! The staff is friendly and helpful! The family even got a picture with the Panda! Something different for the neighborhood!

My friend and I visited Kazia’s Asian Grab n’ Go for the first time today and were very surprised to see the genuineness of the staff. We were immediately greeted and given a tour of the market!
There was quite a variety of snacks and packaged goods that were very interesting to look at and browse. We ended up getting Mochi Candy and it was great! We both decided that we would go back and try the Bubble Tea and their other products.
As we left the store, each one of the staff said, «Thanks for coming! Have a great day!» That resulted in the 5 Stars that I decided to give them.

It’s more like convenience store. An asian 7 eleven. Impressed with the service! You can’t buy Chinese veggies and meats like a normal asian food supermarket.
Bbtea isn’t bbtea. I’m from Taiwan and this isn’t bbtea. Lol! But it’s a good american rendition. Definitely caters to the right demographic! To me it tastes Powderly. And not good. But my friend loves it!

The food is alright. Sushi is good. Dim sum is over priced. And eh. I would still travel to my fav dim sum restuatant in east brunswick, sunny palace! Service is great and it’s hot fresh dim sum! Yum! Recommend you whoever is reading this post to head up there! So worth the trip!

The food is very good and true to its nature. I had chicken curry and was as good as any I have had at much more expensive restaurants. The bubble tea was awesome! The people here were very helpful, I will be back with more people!

Asian grocery and take away food. It’s an interesting idea in a busy shopping center but I think they’ll do better in another location with better parking. I’m told they plan to franchise.
People (like Me) are lazy and will tend to gravitate to places with ample parking and/​or a drive thru when feeling cranky. This concept seems tailored to this demographic but falls a little short of their mark. While I like the whole idea, I did not find it all that convenient. Also, I predict a future filled with teenage loitering at the many empty tables that are available. I would shorten the public footprint and expand the food prep area. The rent will be the same but you may have a greater piece of mind. I wonder if they have WiFi?
The staff are very friendly and helpful. I was a bit disorientated walking in, not knowing what to expect and the counter lady did a very good job of explaining their wares. The store /​restaurant is run by the same family that used to own the finest IHOP in my expansive pancake memory bank.
All food is prepared on premises except the sushi. They might consider giving the sushi a pedigree label like «Made by Jiro at Blank Restaurant». The menu changes daily but I’m told e-​mail updates are available if you like spam. The sushi is half priced after 5pm. I did not eat the sushi but it appeared to be a notch above supermarket grade. I do not eat supermarket sushi ever but I was tempted for a moment here before sanity crept back in.
They have a wide selection of bubble tea and DIm Sum but no Banh Mi sandwiches? I bought Pad Thai, a breakfast wrap and a green tea. The wrap was small, kinda over priced (3.50) and not very appealing. The Pad Thai, despite being meatless (vegetarian) was tasty tho not spicy enough. I found it better than the pale imitations you find outside of genuine Thai restaurants tho. The Tea House green was excellent and I regret not buying more.
They have a small assortment of asian groceries, mostly snacks and drinks at convenience store prices. I plan on stopping by again, especially if I’m in the same shopping center but I fear for my local IHOP.
