This is a customer service rating, not an office visit’s rating. We were definitely left with the sense if someone called not knowing exactly what they needed, and if they were trusting the vet to perform only the tasks needed and charge reasonably, they’d be taken advantage of. My boyfriend found a dog and is in search of its owner/a new home for the animal. Part of that process is determining if the dog is spayed. He called the office asking if there was a fee to check for a microchip or spay and was told«yes» and«maybe $ 50»(the receptionist then corrected herself and did say Padgett checked for chips for free). While microchip scans are free almost anywhere you go, I have never heard of a fee to determine if an animal has been spayed, especially an approximately $ 50 fee. I have a lot of experience with dogs as well as dog-related services(whereas my boyfriend does not) and figured there had been a misunderstanding. When I called, I was told my boyfriend was given the approximate cost of an office visit, exam fee, and«maybe»(this word comes up a lot during this phone call) the price of any tests or treatment administered. I explained we were not in need of any of that — just the fee, if any, to check for a spay scar. Her response was, still, «maybe you could come in and out without paying», but she was not sure. I asked her to break down the approximate pricing she had given me and my boyfriend. «What is the cost of a office visit?» She did not seem to know what I was referencing in that question, so I explained at all veterinary offices, there is a flat rate to have face-time with the vet; any exams or procedures performed afterwards went up in cost from there. She then told me the cost of an office visit was $ 15 and the cost of a «comprehensive exam» was $ 20. I suppose she was arbitrarily guessing whatever else we might want done to the animal would make up the rest of the original $ 50 «estimate». In the end, I thanked her for her time — she was very polite — and said we had checked with other vets who would not charge and were able to give us definitive answers, so we would be going there. I am very surprised and disappointed very basic questions(such as «how much is an office visit») were not easily answered. The receptionist did not seem to feel she should ask someone who did know, but I was not going to tell her how to do her job. We had questions and we received no definitive answers.
