Description

Specialties

Some Place 2 Come Back 2 is a private, charitable not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing transitional housing and managed care to veterans returning from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, as well as to families of those lost in the war. What makes our organization unique is that we are looking to connect with servicemen and women at least six months in advance of their demobilization, assessing their needs and implementing a plan of action before they return home to the U.S. At full operation, we will provide more than 50 residences for Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans and their families, along with support services such as workforce training, life skills development, education and health mediation, and intensive counseling and therapy services. SP2CB2’s goal is to prevent some of the pitfalls that our vets can experience upon returning home, particularly homelessness, unemployment and health care challenges as they return to civilian life.

History

Established in 2011.

I founded this organization based on a promise my parents made to me and my eight siblings that our family home, a two-flat in historic West Lawndale, would always be in the family so we would have «someplace to come back to» during life changes like divorce, homelessness and others.

The veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars face some overwhelming challenges as they return to civilian life. Many don’t have a place to come back to because of loss of family, friend and community connections. Some Place 2 Come Back 2 will provide homes and connections to support services that can stabilize lives and rebuild families and communities.
