at first i thought the sole to my ugg boots just needed to be glued together. but i was told that it should be replaced instead, and was asked to pay $ 35. only to discover upon pick up that the sole’s still the same, and was simply glued together. that much for adhesive? seriously? and when asked for cost of gluing the soles, was given the run around.

I came in thinking the four stars they have on Unilocal would meant something. I payed almost 80 for «half inch heel and sole» and a shine. When I picked up my boots he showed me only one shoe. When I got home the work on the other shoe was all beat up. My boots have a gray stitch so that’s how I was able to tell they only polished HALF of my shoes. Then I realized how they damaged and dinted the leather all the way around. I’m pretty upset but what are you gonna do.

I just paid $ 181 tax included, for some Wolverine boots ($ 90 at Sears on sale). The service was great and I was happy with the experience. Only issue I have are the prices. They are straight retail price, no love shown. I figure if you’re a local mom and pops shop, you’d be better priced… Anyway, I’m a County Employee and I thought they would have offered a discount.Nooooooo. God forbid I have 60 coworkers that need boots.

It’s no wonder why the employees talk crazy to the customers because they see Rudy there boss/​owner doing it in front of customers. The worst customer service on earth. WARNING!!! Do Not bring your most expensive and especially never worn shoes to this cobbler. How does an owner tell the customer (me) that I purposely bought a pair of shoes (damaged) then brought them to his to place of business, then to blame it on him. (THAT MAKES NO SENSE) I work hard just like everyone else does and how I spend my money is important where and who it goes to. My shoes are ruined (A brand new pair of Christian Louboutin) I brought them straight from the store I purchased them from, to the cobbler) Brand new in the box, never worn. The owner was rude, yelling, with the nastiest attitude with his employee smiling and laughing under his breath after hearing what the owner was saying to me. I was embarrassed and humiliated. I have been going to this cobbler (including family and friends) for many years and i have never experienced such unprofessionalism, rudeness and evilness in my whole life. I will be reporting him/​his business… thats for sure!

I dropped my favorite pair of boots off to have them re-​soled and picked them up today… The Cobblers did a beautiful job! They were re-​soled, polished and ready when promised. I highly recommend them; great workmanship, very knowledgeable and friendly!

Came here to get vibram lug half soles put on my Wolverine 1000 mile boots to prolong life. At first I wasn’t too sure if it would turn out right. It took a little less than a week to finish but when I picked them up boy was I surprised. They looked great! If you need a skilled Cobbler and you’re around the area come visit the Cobblers.
Apparently they’re a multi-​generation cobbler and opened shop since 1932! I’ve heard so many horror stories online and I was definitely impressed by the product I received. Will definitely come back for the care of my Wolverines.

I wish I had a before and after picture! I had a big stain on the back of my favorite boots that the shop I usually go to said wouldn’t come out, so I was pretty much hopeless. My dad suggested I bring them here and see what they could do. I almost wish I brought them in sooner. I’m glad I didn’t because I ended up having soda or something else spilled on them staining them the one time I decided to wear them out only because it was dark and you wouldn’t be able to see the big stain.
I was overly pleased when I dropped them off. The young guy was super nice and tried to see if he would be able to have them rushed due to a trip I was taking. He did warn me he wasn’t sure how well he would be able to keep the shading because the toe and heels were a darker brown than the rest of the boot. I wasn’t too concerned I just wanted the stains out. I was super impressed when I picked them up. The shading was still there and the stain was completely gone. Totally worth every penny to have my favorite boots back!

The cobblers at The Cobblers are the best! The family business has been in Hayward longer than my family. The care and craftsmanship they deliver is the finest I’ve experienced. I’ve brought my family’s leather shoes back from Florida to be repaired. The father is a master cobbler.

I brought a bag here to have leather added to a high wear area. Initially, I was a little hesitant. The bag is beautifully crafted and the leather they selected was close but not nearly as nice as the leather details on the bag. Since it was an area that would not be readily seen and I really needed it fixed soon, I agreed to the repair. The simple addition of a leather patch took a full week. They didn’t think to call me when they were done. The only reason I knew they had completed the job was by proactively calling them. The work they did was awful! The patch was poorly cut with a wavy edge and the stitching was even less straight. I’m glad this area of the bag won’t be seen by anyone.
I support small family run businesses like these because they usually provide excellent service and an outstanding eye for craft. I can be extremely patient for good work especially if it supports local small business. However, waiting this long for such poor craftsmanship is inexcusable. For the same reasons stated in the other poor reviews, The Cobblers should be avoided for leather repair work. I blame myself for going ahead with the repair despite the indications I shouldn’t have.
They do carry some nice boots and work shoes. Maybe they should just focus on that and just be a shoe store, not a repair shop.

I’ve been coming here for years and I can truly say cobblers is a life saver and have repaired many of my expensive heels and boots– worth the drive if coming from a long ways. Please allow a week for your shoes to be repaired. Although his sons are just as good I like dealing w their dad he’s more personable.

TERRIBLE JOB!
I would give them zero stars if I could. I brought in a pair of Sergio Rossi shoes that needed the sole replaced. They didn’t match the sole color and they decided to paint the sides black even though they were not originally black. The seam of the shoes were not even and will show when I wear them. Terrible and messy job.
They also want payment up front even though they did an awful job.
I want to toss my $ 1000 pair of shoes in the garbage now. Thanks for nothing.

I received the worst service ever from any business from here. I strongly recommend anyone to go elsewhere for service.

Went here because of the high ratings and because I love supporting family businesses. Brought my shoes in because it needed to be glued on one side. The man told me it was going to cost me $ 15. Although when I went to pick it up, they charged me $ 25! They didnt do that good of a job on it either. smh

We are from out of town and my new brand new boots were so slippery. I didnt feel like breaking my neck on vacation. I Unilocaled for shoe repair and this place popped up. I called up the place to see if they do same day service since I dont live here. The kid on the phone was short and rude. He said come in and they’ll look at it to see what they needed to do.
I brought the boots in on Saturday morning and the boots were done Tuesday. The job was well done. It looked professionally done. You cant tell the difference and it is not slippery. Very impressive and old school.

Great store for everything shoes. Shoes and boots in stock, lots of work shoes. Anything and everything to clean, polish and fix your shoes. But the best part of this place is the old school hands on show repair. Almost no one does this anymore and no one does it better. Bring your busted up shoes and they will fix them. Great guys — great work!

Shops like this are getting harder and harder to find, no matter where you are in the bay area and you need a pair of boots or footwear worked on look no further. It’s a family owned business and you can sense the pride and the commitment here, I gotta thank Dino who spent a good half hour talking to me about the shop as well getting me a pair of wolverines that where cheaper and fitted just as well if not better than my usual pair of Danners. Thanks again Dino, it was great talking to you Sir.

I don’t typically write reviews as much as I should, but the customer service and the amount of knowledge that Dino had when helping me today was to good to not commend! I came in and told him I needed some boots for my new job that I currently went thru 2 pairs of boots of and needed something very comfortable and durable. I’m a project manager and can go from anywhere from a multi million dollar home then go strait to a construction site! With that said he narrowed it down to 3 pairs! To make a long story short I walked out with the most comfortable pair of shoes I ever bought and he guaranteed me I would be happy and less grumpy when I get home from work ;) good job guys. I will be back.

A wonderful, friendly, old school, family-​owned business run by folks that really know their stuff and cannot be either outsourced or re-​directed by their «parent company». What a concept!
This place is really an institution in Hayward. I think they have been in business for 30+ years but don’t quote me.
I don’t know of anyone who patronizes this business and doesn’t love it.

MY DOG CHEWED MY SHOES!
Last month, my bored pup managed to break into my room and find a few of my shoes. Apparently, she has a strap fetish and chewed thru 3 pairs of shoes including my Banana Republic sandals which was fairly new.
Instead of tossing them i figured they were salvageable and brought them to The Cobblers. This shop has been around for decades and its definitely old school. They have a repair section along with boots and a wall of foot cushions, orthotics, shoe polish, and other accessories.
After presenting my damaged shoe I was advised that it would definitely NOT be like new but will try their best. For $ 15 they fixed the strap in 3 spots…(naughty dog!). Of course, you can see the seam where my pup chewed but The Cobbler reinforced with a piece of leather underneath and stitched it for more support. Overall, I’m happy with the work and i can wear them again!
I would advise calling in before you pick up your shoes… unfortunately, they were not ready as promised so had to pick up 2 days later which is not a problem if you live in Hayward.
Nevertheless, friendly service and good place to get shoe repair done.
