D & A Bumpers and Plating

This review is given after working with D&A Bumpers for quite a few years. My husband and I own an autobody shop on the Peninsula, and on average order 2 — 4 bumpers per month from D&A. There have been times when D&A and us, have had to chase options on a bumper, or rarely — they don’t have a bumper available. HOWEVER, overall — they have provided us with outstanding service. They are extremely competitive with pricing (especially if you compare to new OEM pricing), have great response time and typically have the bumper (s) we need. The receptionist the other reviewer criticized has always been professional and courteous — even with as much contact as I have had with her, she never broke from a professional attitude. The driver, the owner and his sons, as well, have always been a pleasure to work with. I typically don’t write reviews, however to see someone write one so extreme — when my experiences has been completely polar opposite — I felt the need to support D&A Bumpers with my positive experiences with them.

Last week, on September 18^th, 2012, i called D & A Bumpers in Hayward looking for a new Front Bumper Cover for my car. After talking to the secretary there, they told me they would have my front bumper cover ready for $ 180 by Thursday. I then asked if they offered a repair service, because it might be cheaper for me to repair my current bumper. They said they did, and to text them pictures of my current bumper cover to see if they could repair it. She told me should would call me back within the next 2 hours. Withing 5 minutes i sent them multiple pictures of my front bumper cover. About 10 minutes til closing (3 hours after i first called), i called them back and told them they never called me and told me how much it would be to get my front bumper repaired. She then stated that all the workers have gone home for the day, and to call them back on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, i gave them a call and asked them for a price to repair my current bumper cover. They quoted me $ 230 to repair it. I then told them that it would be cheaper for me to just order a new one. I told them to then go ahead and prepare a new front bumper cover for me. She then said the front bumper cover would be ready for me by Friday and the cost would be $ 220. I then told them they already quoted me on a price of $ 180. She then proceeded to say that she would need to check with the manager to see if that’s OK, and that she would call me back. Of course, she never called me back. I called D & A again an hour later, but this time a gentleman answered the phone. I told him that the manager stated the price for the front bumper cover would be $ 180, but i just got a quote for $ 220. He then said that his dad was the one in charge, and that he would have to talk to him. He put me on hold, and came back 5 minutes later stating that $ 180 is fine, and that i would have to come by on Saturday to pick it up. I stated that they are closed on Saturdays and wanted to make sure someone was going to be there. They said someone will be there in the morning.
Saturday rolls around, and once again i gave D & A Bumpers a call to confirm that they are going to have my bumper. The owners son answers the phone again. He stated that they are about to leave the shop, and wanted me to come by on Monday to pick up the front bumper cover. Since i live in San Jose, and they are stationed in Hayward, it would have been a very long drive for me. I agreed to pick it up on Monday.
On Monday after i get off work, i gave them a call around noon telling them that I am on my way up there to pick up my front bumper cover. The lady secretary then told me that they have sold my bumper because i didn’t come to pick it up on Saturday. I told them that the son had told me to come in on Monday since they were closing up on Saturday. She apolligized for the «miss-​communication» and promised me that the bumper would be ready for me to come pick it up on Wednesday. I then confirmed that i would be there on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 to pick up my 2006 Subaru WRX Sedan Front Bumper Cover for $ 180. She said that was correct.
Wednesday comes around, and i head up to D & A Bumpers to pick up my front bumper. Once i got there, i noticed how horrible the store looked. The whole inside room was a mess. There were no lights on, but the secretary was sitting in her room on the computer doing non business related thing. I told her I was there for my bumper. She then told me to follow her. She went to go get the Manager (His name was Alfredo Moran Pacheco). He took me into the building, sat down, and told me he didn’t have my bumper ready. I was furious! I told them I drove all the way from San Jose, In traffic, to pick up my bumper, and they didn’t have it. I told them i was thoroughly upset, because i have been trying to get my Front Bumper cover for a whole week, and they keep giving me the run around. He then said that he was going to personally deliver me the Front Bumper Cover. He wanted me to pay for the bumper up front, but i told him i don’t feel comfortable with that, but i will pay him once the bumper gets dropped off at my house. He agreed that it was fine, and that he would deliver my Front Bumper Cover to my House on Friday at 1pm.
Friday comes around, and guess what? No front bumper! I called him and stated that I have yet to received my front bumper cover. He apologized and said that the person working on that bumper picked the wrong bumper. I then asked him when i would be receiving it. He said he will have it dropped off by the end of the day, but he then said he was going to call me back to double check. So, its now 6pm, i have yet to receive a call from them, and every time i try to call his cell phone it goes straight to his voice mail.
I am tired of being treated like this, and something needs to be done. They have horrible business practices, and they NEVER follow through with anything! I have now taken my business elsewhere…
