We went back a second time and our experience was much better. I had the build your own omelet which the veggie sausage was a great option for the meat. The hash browns were not soggy or greasy so that was a giant plus. My kids had a belgian waffle with ice cream and they loved every bite. The hot chocolate portion is huge. The wait time for the food was a *little* long, but the food was very tasty. I like the fact that they have healthy options and they also have options for those who want to splurge. My only suggestion would be to offer other homemade jam options as strawberry allergies are pretty common. The staff does seem a bit busy as well, but didn’t seem as rushed this time around.

Love this place. I’ve been in twice and both times was impressed with their fresh, home style food. Clam chowder is the best. Friendly, bright, and comfortable. I’ll be a regular!

Had lunch with my family inside the restaurant for lunch and it was so Freakin LOUD in there that we could not even have a conversation. Employees tossing dishes around they crashed into tubs; the music was vety loud and the employees who were in the next room, in the kitchen, could be heard talking loudly above the loud music that I thought I was sitting in the kitchen! The whole experience made me wish I could have sat outside but it was too hot and there is no shade at the outdoor tables. I gave two stars because the food was good and that was the only thing. Will not go again nor recommend to others.

Overall a pretty good experience. Started off rough though. We walked in and we’re greeted by no one. There was a plethora of tattooed waitresses who just ignored us. No hello, no time estimate on a wait. No let me get you a coffee while you wait. One was behind the counter eating a sandwhich, one was behind the counter downing a Redbull type drink, even the cook was eating on line. It was pretty annoying and the wife asked if we should go somewhere else. But by the time you get in the car and to another place why bother. Finally we were seated. We had a male server who was great. The food came out pretty quick and was really good. Wife had the veggie Benny I had the Benny which was basically biscuits and gravy. Really good sausage gravy. A little too much pepper. 40 bucks for 4 people.

Best food and service in town! Great patio seating area! Friendly tattooed girls greeted us with a smile! A gentleman had a service dog and they helped him down the stairs and to his table… I felt they really went the extra mile!

Have previously eaten at Chompers food is ok and the waitstaff is amazing. This morning we waited for them to open and this guy waltzes in with his dog off leash and and they both take a seat in the booth. This was NOT a service animal, no service vest, no leash, trained service dogs lay on the floor. Since when is it bring your dog to breakfast day. We’re not setting foot in there again, totally unacceptable food service practices. Which states in part«Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered…» We are well aware of the ADA and those who abuse that statute. This persons only disability was his sense of entitlement, he did not have a handicap sticker on his vehicle, he flipped the sign on your door from closed to open and barged in like he and his dog, who was unleashed and running at large, owned the place. Under that same ADA statue it also states: «When it’s not obvious what service an animal provides, only limited inquiries are allowed. Staff may ask two questions: 1. Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability, and 2. What work or tasks has the dog been trained to perform…» You DO have the right to make those inquiries. You cannot ask about the persons disability or require medical documentation or ask the dog to demonstrate its ability to perform the work task. But by asking those two simple questions you can make people accountable.

Went here yesterday for the second time. First time, the food was good and it had a nice atmosphere, but it took a long time to get the food. This time, the wait was ridiculously long and the food was subpar. After we sat down and received our drinks, it took at least 15 minutes to just take our orders. From other reviews, I guess inattentive staff is a common theme. After the order was taken, it took another 25 minutes to get the food. It was cold in general and my biscuits were hockey pucks. We arrived at Chompers at 10am and didn’t actually get food until about 11:30. I would give 2 stars, but the first experience was much better than the second.

We heard a lot about this place, so we decided to give it a try. When got there, the line wasn’t too bad, two parties ahead of us. We were told the wait would be ten minutes. 20 minutes later, we were seated. Our party included my wife and I and two other single people who asked for separate checks, three in all. The server, after about 10 more minutes, took our order. Nearly a half hour later, we were still waiting, noticing others around us were getting their food even though they had been seated and ordered after us. Okay, no big deal, they’re busy. We finally asked a passing hostess if our food was ready and she said she’d check. She came back with it immediately. As it turns out, it had probably been sitting there for some time, because most of it was cold. One of the singles with us sent theirs back to be reheated. The other found the fries accompanying the hamburger to be hard, and not very good, and told the server. Mine was fine, as it was only pancakes, eggs and bacon, difficult to mess up, but the eggs were cold. Apparently, complaints about the food, which I thought were civil and justified, upset the server, because we almost never saw her again after that. We were offered no more coffee, and the rest of our party got up to leave while I sat there waiting to pay the bill– which our server had placed on one bill rather than the three we asked for. Almost another ten minutes passed with me sitting there holding the bill and my card in plain view of anyone who passed by. Finally, a server from another section asked if she could run it for me. I understand every place has bad days, so I won’t judge it entirely on one experience and I’d be willing to, give it another shot. But if this day was representative of what to expect, I’d say they have some work to do.

What a great find. Wouldn’t think of finding a restaurant out this way but sure glad we where told about it. Fresh ingredients and farm to table atmosphere followed by upbeat smiling staff equals heaven for brunch in my book. This place was packed. Complimentary coffee outside in waiting area for guests waiting for table. Good go on and on. Thanks Joe for telling me about this place. The crab Bennie was very tasty and the whoot whoot is a hit with my daughter. Do your self a favor and make a drive out to this place for breakfast then hit up Meltz for lunch later in your day.

Oh My Goodness! You cannot! Go wrong with this place! First of all you gotta start your day with their cinnamon roll trio! Heavenly & oh so delish! Not only do they have a broad range of breakfast selections, their sandwich & burger menu is to die for. Expect to spend several minutes trying to take in the menu alone… So many options, you almost feel overwhelmed, because you want to order everything on the menu. They serve delicious medium roast organic coffee, an array of juice options, homemade strawberry jam, organic homemade burgers… need I say more?! Be hungry when you arrive. ;)

Delish! So good. Had a simple bacon omelette with chomped fries and toast, they have homemade strawberry jam for you toast that you need to use. Also shared the cinnamon roll trio, the cinnamon rolls are huge, we took most of that home but the pecan was amazing and the cream cheese frosting on the original was perfect. Also very reasonably priced. We will be making this place our go to breakfast joint. Can’t wait to try their lunch.

Delicious breakfast. It’s enough food to feed an army. Fresh and tasty. We took our kids there, and the staff was pleasant and engaging with the littles as well. It’s on the revisit list.

My fiancé and I came for lunch, but would like to come back to try the breakfast. It’s small and gets pretty busy. You might have to wait a few minutes for a table to open up. We did. No biggie. Service was good. I had the patty melt and he had a bacon BBQ burger. We both liked what we got. Would come back again.

The Chomper Café, is a much needed breakfast option addition, to Hayden! We live close to downtown CDA, so we don’t have much occasion to drive to Hayden for breakfast(especially since the wait to eat here can be quite long on the weekends), but we have still managed to eat here, a few times in the last 6 months. The atmosphere is homey and inviting, with a view of an adorable red barn, out back; it makes you feel like you’re having breakfast at Grandma’s farm. The food is fresh and comes off as made-from-scratch, for most of the menu items that we have tried. The chicken fried steak was tasty, with my only slight complaint being, that I didn’t LOVE the gravy. And I want to LOVE the gravy on my CFS! Overall, this is an excellent choice, for breakfast in Hayden and I am sure we’ll be back again.

We had high expectations based on the reviews. The décor is very charming. We came around 830 on a Tuesday and there was no wait. Waiter was prompt with water and coffee. My fiancé ordered the breakfast of Chompions, eggs OVERHARD. He received runny eggs and only got 2 even though the menu says 3. We stopped another server as ours was nowhere to be found and informed him of the issue. His response was he would let our server know. It took a ridiculously long time for our waiter to come over and when the new eggs were brought over they were cooked exactly the same and again, only 2. They also forgot the toast that comes with the meal. Servers need to check the accuracy of the orders before serving to customers. Major let down…

The food is as good as any breakfast place in the area. Better than some. Prices are about right and the food is consistent. The servers are attentive and friendly.

Love this place! We have eaten here several times now and have yet to have anything less than delicious. It’s fresh and perfect every time. The strawberry jam is always a must have. Don’t skip the jam! The only downside is they are always busy(because it’s so good).

I want to give this café four stars for having weird tasting gravy, and when I say weird I don’t mean bad just unexpected – let me rant and explain. I read others opinions regarding service, setting and flavors of plates. I usually judge a place by its ability to serve tasteful biscuits and scratch made gravy. I ordered the app of one biscuit & gravy for $ 3.50 I got my money’s worth :) The biscuit came out halved and smothered in a river of chunky sausage country gravy. The bite is airy and with a little chew. The biscuits are delicious and worth trying. Gravy…how I love thee. I love gravy with toast and I love gravy with roast. I love gravy with starch and I love gravy when parched. I love gravy, yes please. I don’t love gravy with cheese :-/ The gravy is rich, I mean drowned in butter and heavy ass cream and mixed with bacon/sausage drippings. This gravy has a texture close to custard and rich like it too. This gravy has great smell and looks satisfying. This gravy is flavorful and very tasty all except the off putting cheese flavor. It’s not horrible, just weird. My mini-me ordered the breakfast of chompions and was amazed with the girth of the Belgian waffle and the eggs/hashbrown combo.

Chompers is new and needs some kinks worked out to be great. The wait time is average for a decent breakfast place, so be prepared. The atmosphere is «cozy» but they could eliminate the childs’ kitchen play area to accommodate a few more two person tables. Once seated we ordered the«appetizer» cinnamon roll, but didn’t get it till we got bfast and ended taking it home at that point. A few hours later we had the roll. I probably wouldn’t get the maple pecan again. The maple frosting was over cooked and was too sugary and the roll was very dry. My omelet was pretty good, along with the chomper fries. I did like that they had great strawberry jam AND they put it in a squeeze bottle instead of the tiny plastic cups… so that was a bonus. It’s too bad they don’t use local bread to make it fabulous. Their gravy was good, but not the best in town and not quite the same as their counterpart restaurant(not as thick and less meat and tasted like cheese… weird). My breakfast cohort had the chicken fry, said it was«okay.» He originally wanted corned beef hash, but were out of browns. His boy got the french toast, it looked good and he gobbled it right down. I suppose it’s picky, but I prefer raw sugar for my coffee, but the main thing that really got me, was the food temp. Everything we got was just warm and not hot, so it was sitting for awhile and that is one thing that is hard for me to get over. It’s hard, I want to compare it to The Cottage, since I know there is a strong affiliation, but it’s probably not fair to them with me doing that and I’m a breakfast snob, so there’s that. This place is definitely better than most places in the Cd’A/Hayden area and they could give my favorite place a run, but they need to refine things a wee bit. I will go back, eventually, and try it again though.
