EMT Education And Training

I can’t stress enough how Awesome of a Mentor and Instructor Mike Wilson is. He really takes the time to make sure you understand the course work and the lectures. I must have asked him hundreds of questions over the past 9 weeks and he always responded with an answer and a smile. If you’re looking for a solid EMT course with a solid team of instructors CIEMT (Wilson Campus) is the way to go.

Just finished the course. If you’re planning on taking this course, just know that it’s going to be a tough 7 weeks. Definitely worth it though. If you’re willing to block out all the nonsense in your life for just 21 days, you should be alright. Once you’ve passed the NREMT, you can get back to your nonsense.
The structure of the course:
The class is «divided» into two main sections; the knowledge portion and the skills portion. I say «divided» because you really can’t do one without the other. However, you will have Lecture days and you will have Skills days.
Tips:
Going on YouTube and looking up KhanAcademyMedicine videos might help tremendously (especially when it comes down to fully understanding how the heart works). If you don’t know how the heart works, you’re not going to fully understand the diseases/​problems of the heart.
If you have the money, and you live with roommates or family members, I suggest you invest in a stethoscope and a BP cuff. A BP cuff is not that expensive, but a stethoscope might be (depends). Keep practicing on getting someone’s BP when you’re at home. You’re going to need a stethoscope anyways most likely so you might as well get one now.
People that should NOT take this class:
If you’re one of those people that have a chronic illness of not being able to show up on time, don’t even bother enrolling in this course. You’re going to be throwing away about $ 900, so better yet, just give it to me. I can make better use of that money at the strip club than you can trying to make it halfway through this course.
PS. if you have your CPR card before entering this program, I highly recommend you just pay another $ 30 to renew it. It’ll be worth it in the long run.

I just finished the 9 week EMT Basic course, which met twice a week for lecture and every other Saturday for skills training, and had the BEST experience! Although I was an engineering major in college, this class was by far one of the hardest I’ve ever taken, but also the most effective! I was honestly having dreams about how to properly perform CPR and spinal immobilization, because that is how hard the amazing instructors push you. The class itself is set up with realistic goals to finish all of the requirements to pass the class, such as ride-​alongs and some online work.
Mike Wilson, the main instructor for the lectures, was a better teacher than all of my teachers in college! We went over so much information in such a short amount of time; yet, by the end, I didn’t even feel like I had to review that much to pass his final exam because everything had been drilled into my brain. He keeps the lectures interesting, informative and fun, making sure to keep the students engaged and sharing his experiences in the field. He would stay after class finished to let us practice our skills using the equipment and to answer any and all questions we had. He really wanted each and every one of us to pass the class! The skills days are intense! You will learn the skills and then have to show what you have learned, especially patient assessment, at the end of the day. I really have to thank all of the awesome skills instructors, who were definitely hard on us, but only because they wanted us to be properly prepared for the skills final and for work in the field! They used acronyms that made patient assessment easier to remember, and had us practice our skills over and over so we wouldn’t forget even the smallest step.
To pass the class, you definitely need to study, take the skills days seriously, practice outside of classroom time, make study groups (or group messages), and above all, not psych yourself out! If you put in the work, and are confident in your knowledge and skills, you will do great on the final. I strongly recommend CIEMT with Mike Wilson! I feel totally prepared for work as an EMT thanks to this class; all that’s left is to take the NREMT and apply!

Mike Wilson is a great instructor and definitely teaches you everything you need to know. I have taken both his regular basic class as well as his refresher class and I can’t say I was disappointed. The material was taught in a very engaging manner, so that you actually learned it instead of it being thrown at you. Granted that doesn’t mean you can slack off… it’s a fast paced course where you ate expected to study everyday to pass.
The skills days are brutal but necessary. You learn so many acronyms, but by the end your patient assessment will be down solid.
if you are looking for a cheap and fast way to get certified, you have found it.
This emt school is one of the best and is on par with UCLA’s.

this is a great EMT program from personal experience. The price for the course is reasonable compared to other programs and it is less time as well you do not need to spend a full semester in class. I tool the 9 week course to fit my schedule and well it was a great experience. the course is only a 21 day program and it starts with orientation and paperwork followed by CPR training they play a video on CPR but then they broke everything down and we got a few hours of hands on training. they then have 4 lectures and then the skill day. there are 3 skill courses that have to be done online and it is one skill course per week or before the skill day. and then they have the 24 hour and 10 patient minimum contact ride along it is not much but it does require your attention and full commitment. Mike is a great instructor and his teaching methods helped a large amount… he does not rush the lecture and he makes sure all the students know the material… take mikes advice when he says to make study groups not only will it cut down on study time wile learning the material you will make some new friends that you will most likely see in the field again. the skill days are a test of what you have learned in the lecture days. they do put pressure on you in the skill days so don’t get cocky because I seen smart people who were outstanding students fail the skills scenario.

I just finished taking the class today and I have to say that I had the best experience! If you are looking for the best training to become an EMT, then CIEMT is the absolute best school you could attend to. The main instructor Mike is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about EMS, and his lectures are fun. This is an accelerated program, so yes it is a lot to take on in such a short period of time… but Mike has a way to teach that makes it easier to understand and to remember the materials. You have to put a lot of work and commitment into it, but at the end, it is all so much worth it! If you really want to be good at your job, then CIEMT will definitely prepare you for what is ahead of you… All the skills instructors are also very knowledgeable and passionate, and if you do your part, you will succeed! The first weeks of the class were hard for me, and I was struggling with the practical skills, but if you really practice over and over and give it all you’ve got, you will pass. This school wants to make sure that whoever passes the course, will be able to do a great job of caring for people while keeping oneself safe! Also the class was amazing and we had a really good time:) Next step, the NREMT and I feel very much ready for it! Thank you Mike and all the skills instructors!!!

I just finished taking this class and I had to come let everyone know just how amazing this course is! And how good Mike Wilson is as a teacher. I have a bachelors degree in science from a prestigious university and in all my years of schooling I have NEVER had a teacher who was as effective as Mike and his team when it comes to teaching and communication. I took the 7 week course which means we had long lectures 3 days a week, but Mike keeps it interesting and makes the class fun. I highly recommend to anyone who is looking to get their EMT training to take it at CIEMT with Mike Wilson

If I could give this course 6 out of 5 stars I would. I had a blast in Mike’s class! He is a wealth of knowledge and has a great teaching style. He kept the class entertaining with stories of his experiences in the field. It was cool that the other instructors who help out also went through Mike’s program.
THIS IS NOT AN EASY CLASS.
You get out of it what you put in to it. I made the mistake of thinking that I could pass with minimal studying and I was very wrong. I studied my booty off to pass. The difference with this EMT class is that Mike genuinely cares about helping his students understand the material. He takes the time to make sure everyone is clear and goes over it again and again until it’s second nature. They also offer tutoring for extra help. After taking this class, I felt very prepared for National Registry which I passed on my first try. The class went by so fast. It’s crazy how much you learn in such a short amount of time. If you want to get your EMT certification, this is the class to take!

I just completed this EMT class with Mike, and I highly recommend it to anyone trying to get an EMT license. I took this course so I could eventually gain field experience for my nursing school applications. This one was the cheapest one I could find — $ 895 — and since I took the accelerated course, it took a little less than 2 months. Also, unlike a lot of other classes I looked at, you don’t have to take a CPR course separately. This class exceeded my expectations and then some. Unlike a lot of college classes, this course not only helps you comprehend the knowledge you get, it also stresses applying those skills to real life situations.
The main instructor, Mike, has been teaching this class for a while, and his passion for EMS really shows. He genuinely wants everyone to succeed in the course, and he gives you all the tools you need. If you have enough motivation and spend the time it takes to master the skills and learn the material, you will have no problem passing the final. He’s also really funny and tells a lot of stories about his days in the field during the lectures, so it’s not hard to stay awake and alert for such a long period of time.
The class consists of two types of days: skills and lecture. During most lecture days, there will be a quiz. You need to have at least an 80% average on your quiz scores in order to take the written final, and an 80% on that final to pass the class. For the skills, you need to get 100%, otherwise you will not pass! They take training EMTs very seriously here, and they won’t give you a chance to get a job in the field if they don’t see you performing at their standards. But if you do pass the written final, you’ll have an 89% chance of passing the actual National Registry exam. After this class, I feel extremely prepared to be an EMT. I am also comfortable with performing all the skills necessary, because the constant repetition has engraved them into my muscle memory. All that’s left for me to do is take the national exam and apply! I really recommend that you take this class if you’re trying to get your license.

I chose to enroll in EMT Education and Training because I was looking for an accelerated class that would put me in the field as quickly as possible, while also preparing me for my role as an EMT. This course went above and beyond this expectation. Mike and Jeff did not just prepare us for what we needed to know in the field; they made sure we were experts. They taught us not to simply memorize the material, but also to understand the medicine behind why we treat people the way we do. For me, this was extremely valuable because it made me more comfortable in my ability as an EMT, and because I hope to someday build on this knowledge in the healthcare field.
Mike (the main instructor) is obviously passionate about teaching EMS, and this shows in his quality of instruction. One of the things I remember best about the program was his constant story-​telling in order to teach us concepts and to prepare us for what we might see in the field. This made the class way more interesting than it could have been, and made it a lot easier to learn the material.
While this course was a lot of fun, don’t be fooled. It is very challenging, especially since it is an accelerated course, and it requires a pretty strong commitment. But studying EMS should be a commitment, right? Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my EMT education, and I would strongly recommend this course to future EMS students.

Where to begin?
For me, taking this class had more of an emotional tole than just getting closer to becoming an EMT. I accually had to take this class twice, first time failing at the Long Beach/​Signal Hill campus. Half way through the class, my mother passed away[RIP MOM!],& for her, i tried to stick it out, on her behalf, but it didnt work out. I was just emotionally wrecked & my options to enlist came closer. i REALLY wanted to enlist.
Fast forward a month, I read a couple reviews on the wilson campus. I thought «hey why not give it another try, wouldnt hurt»…so I did & I think its been the best decision of mines to date.
Well worth the money and time I put forth to finish the program. Dont be fulled by the legnth of the class[7−8 weeks]. They make those weeks worth it! I learned tons of information, experienced new things, & gained alot of self confidence[something ive lacked, but needed for ems]
The program had me more than ready for my National Exam. It was only obvious to me that I learned so much from class when I passed the exam on my first try.
You can tell that Mike KNOWS what he’s talking about, has a passion for what he did in EMS,& a passion to teach others. Not only teach, but for the student to comprehend.
