Dr. Diana Risco, OD

I’ve been seeing Doctor Risco for years now. She is very helpful understanding and easy to talk to. I couldn’t see myself ever going to a different optometrist she very well informed and good at what’s she does.

Friendly and helpful. Decent prices. Inside Costco but membership is not required.

For my mom’s birthday, I want to get her a new prescription and new pair of classes. I got off from work early, and I called this afternoon if they had walk-​ins today; the woman on the phone said yes, just be there before 5:45 pm.
We had done a light shopping before we went in. The front desk with the green scrubs and both arms cover with tattoos was rude. Asked if we had an appointment, I said nope, just walk in. Then she gave an attitude that it will be a 45-​minute wait because there are two people ahead (it was 4:50 pm), I told her we don’t mind waiting. I filled out the paperwork and an appointment showed up. The green scrub said, it will be over an hour, wait, and asked for us to come back later; try back at 6:20 pm. I said we don’t mind waiting here. She looked at me, like a disgust on her face, said «sit here?” — I said «yes, here.» The doctor saw my mom at 5:30 pm — the doctor was quick with his patients. The other girl with the maroon color scrubs was nice to me and my mom, I giver her props.
I would say to others out there, be firm and at the same time be respectful when confronting a troll.
The maroon scrub girl and the doctor were cool folks, but being it was my mom’s birthday and the tatted girl was rude, I have to give two stars.

Was seen by Dr. Anne Clark. She was extremely professional and very pleasant. The office staff was awesome also and I was in and out with a full eye exam and a prescription in less than ½ an hour.
Highly recommended.

I started seeing Dr. Risco for several years before I decided to have LASIK. She now sees my kids and I have nothing but positive things to say about her. I don’t wear glasses anymore but still see her for my annual post-​op check ups and she is fantastic. Yes, you will probably have to wait. Yes, the girls at the front could be nicer. But it’s not enough to deter me from returning to Dr. Risco — she is the best!

Really bad service!!! The receptionist is very rude and not very helpful. They were all on their and they were not helpful. When I called to make an appointment the receptionist told me they didn’t have anything till next month but then she check and there was something for the same week. I will not be going back

Doctor Risco is thorough, friendly, kind and helpful. I have been going to see Doctor Risco for many years. I had recommended many friends and family members to her. They all love her services.
I am happy to hear that she is also practice in Garden Grove on Monday. It makes it easier for my family in Orange county.
Do schedule an appointment, she is popular!

Awesome doc. Very friendly, knowledgeable. Had to wait 20 minutes passed appt time but worth it. I checked on paper to do dilation for extra $ 20 but she forgot to address why I didn’t need it. I didn’t realize this until I was checking out. The girls said I didn’t need it or else she would have. Still an explanation would have been welcomed. Overall would go back.

I’ve been going to Dr. Risco for about 10 years now, for yearly contact exams.
I’ve always found her to be very professional, and she does something rare in the medical field — she actually takes the time to listen to me when I bring up an issue, and then she addresses it in a way that I can easily understand. She is never dismissive of my concerns. I’m only in my 40’s, but I’ve talked to her about what my eye health will look like down the road as I age, and she’s been great about telling me what concerns might come up, what to be on the lookout for, and what probably will not be an issue for me. Any doctor that treats me like I’m intelligent enough to have a peer-​to-​peer conversation with wins my loyalty.
Be aware that there are some prior reviews who mention the staff at the counter where you order glasses and contacts — those people are (were?) Costco employees and have nothing to do with Dr. Risco’s office. Her office happens to be within the Costco store, but her office is independent from the Costco store.

Terrible service & rude staff. Made appointment and was told they take VSP from one staff member. Came in for appointment, filled out paperwork then was told rudely by «Brenda» that they did not take «private» VSP. She was not helpful in tying to get Insurance verified. After I called VSP, my policy is valid there. The Drs office just lost business and wasted my time !!!

Hands down the customer service I’ve ever experienced. I’ve been a patient there for two years and will never go back again. Employees are incompetent & rude. If you’re looking for someone who is friendly and helpful, find another place.
Strike #1: After my first appointment I needed my glasses prescription faxed to me. I called and requested it 5 times before finally having to physically drive to the store to find out that they didn’t do a glasses exam during my last eye exam. Funny, considering I requested & paid for a glasses prescription along with my contacts prescription.
Strike #2: Traffic on the 405 got in the way of my 2^nd yearly appointment, and I called to say I would be a few minutes late. I was the last appointment of the day, a 7:00 pm appointment, and I didn’t think it would be an issue since they told me they are open until 8:00 pm. However, they said that if I arrived even one minute past 7:00 pm it would be impossible for the doctor to see me, because the doctor needs to leave at 7:15 pm every day. I explained my extenuating circumstances, that I had to take time off of work for this appointment and accounted for traffic, but the traffic was worse than expected. I even explained that I couldn’t get another time off of work to come again. The front desk employee could care less, she wanted to get home, and she wasn’t even willing to ask the doctor if she could make an exception.
In a world where optometrists are a dime a dozen, I would recommend finding someone who cares about their patients.

Dr risco is the best in the business. She knows what she’s doing. And very careful with everything she does. I’d recommend her to everyone. You wouldn’t go wrong. She has an amazing staff. Good and efficient. Keep up the good work guys.

Unlike many of the other visitors who spoke about how unprofessional & unsatisfactory the service was from the staff, I had a different experience. Living in LA, we all know just how terrible the traffic is, so I was actually about 5 – 10 late to my eye exam. I called prior just to let the ladies know, and made sure I got there in enough time, without moving too many cars out of my way, to be seen by the male doctor.
Upon my arrival, I was greeted with a smile and was immediately seen by the doctor, who obviously did my eye exam. Aside from the $ 20 that you have to pay just to get a picture taken of your eye, which isn’t necessarily necessary IF the doctor verbally tells you that your eye for the most part is okay, the service was still pretty decent. I didn’t notice that he seemed to be in a rush, but that didn’t really bother me because I made sure that he answered all of my questions.
Once I got to the outside area where they collect your prescription, a lady by the name of Kimberley helped me and gave me AMAZING customer service. Maybe it was because Costco was about to close or because I approached her with the same respect I expected to receive from her. Who knows? Anyways… 4 stars seem suitable for this visit! I kept one star to myself because of how in a rush the doctor seemed. I do like the female doctor more, but hey, that’s just me being a sexist feminist!!!

Dr. Risco is the best eye doctor out there, in my opinion. She is gentle, caring, and her soft spoken manner makes you feel at ease. To tell you just how much I love her, I work for an optometrist but go see Dr. Risco every year for my annual exam. That is how great she is! I have horrible eyesight and am blind as a bat without my glasses, but Dr. Risco never makes me feel bad about my vision or that there is no hope for me. She is very positive and encouraging.
I can’t recommend her enough!

About the Optometrist:
You get what you pay for… Don’t expect amazing service and professionalism! It’s great that the eyeglasses exam was only $ 49. But I have no idea who my optometrist was. He never introduced himself. I waited over 30 minutes for my appointment I made and then the whole exam took 5 minutes. I feel like he kind of threw me out of there as fast as he could so he can take his lunch break. Right when I paid and stepped out of the door, they closed the door with the «Out to Lunch» sign.
Also, during the exam he flashed this bright light DIRECTLY into my pupil and I was partially blind for a long while. He made me stare into the light for at least a minute (it is literally like staring at the sun). I’ve never ever had any optometrist do that. But hey… it was only $ 49.
I will also point out that the equipment seems a bit outdated. I’ve been to places with newer equipment and techniques to make it feel like they’re not torturing you. But yeah… like I said, it’s only $ 49 for exam…
About the glasses:
Such a good deal here!
I typically spend $ 400+ for glasses at other optometry offices since I require special lenses but I only spent around $ 160 for my frames & lens. Can you believe that!!!
A friend of mine recommended I try this place for the prices and I was honestly expecting really cheap looking + ugly frames if it’s going to be at a low price. But I was wrong; they have such a large selection! They even have cheaper versions of the expensive frames you want :) The staff behind the counters are friendly and courteous.

I found Dr. Risco through Unilocal,so I thought I’d leave my feedback.
I have been to several optometrist and never been happy with them until I came to Dr. Risco’s office. It seems odd to me that there are bad reviews about tue staff, they were very professional and kind to me during my visit. They all made sure to explain all the tests and procedures that were going to be performed and they were all very kind as well. When I was called in to see Dr. Risco, she made sure to ask and find out what my issues and concerns were with my vision. She explained the probable causes of some of my issues very thoroughly and the solutions to improve my vision. She reviewed all my results and explained why I was having my issues and gave me a prescription for glasses and her recommendations for my next visit. Above all, I would HIGHLY RECCOMEND DR. RISCO & ASSOCIATES to any one!!!
Tip: make sure to set an appointment before you come, they accept walk-​ins but whenever I drop by their office is pretty busy, so I would suggest that you make an appointment before coming in!

So my visit today frustrated me enough to make me write a review. On my first visit for a contacts exam I was extremely happy with my time spent in this office and with how helpful Dr. Clark was. I would give a five star review based on my first visit alone but due to today I simply cannot.
Today I has an appointment at 3:00 pm to pick up my trial contacts and get a lesson on proper use. I arrived ten minutes early and was told they would be pushing me back till 3:15 pm. A little bugged but thankfully the office is in Costco and I could walk around to kill time so no big deal.
I came back to the office at 3:10 and waited another twenty minutes while other people who were not there when I originally arrived were being seen before me. I was not a happy camper anymore so at 3:30 I told the lady at the desk that I needed to cancel and was not even given a sorry for my time that I wasted there today.
I’m giving three stars because it would be unfair to base my experience solely off of today, but if that were the case then one star is all I would have given.
Gonna call and make another appointment once I have my work schedule and hopefully the service is on par with my first visit.

I’ve been hopping around year to year looking for an optometrist I’m going to keep. Truth be told, I’m a hypochondriac when it comes to my eyes and I’m constantly nervous of every flash I see in my vision. My problem with most other locations I go to is typically the lack of value and availability for appointments.
This year, I decided to try Costco because of the convenience and proximity to work. Luckily, I was able to get an appointment next day at a convenient time with Dr. Wong. I must say I think she’s great. She seems like a thorough doctor that makes sure the details are correct.
I explained to her my issue and she patiently listened to my explanations of how I see odd obscurities in my visions. While I’ve had this issue before, she was the first doctor to explain to me the specific reason why I see that issue happen, and also explained what type of symptoms I should be looking out for.
Knowing both an explanation of why I see what I see and what I need to be on the lookout for has given me more peace of mind. My experience was positive and I will continue to go to this location for further eye care.

Being able to trust your optometrist with your eyes can give you a lot of piece of mind. They had me take off my contacts before my exam started, and I could not see a thing so when Dr Clark was asking me questions I kept squinting one eye shut to try to see her. She probably thought I was weird (and she’s right), but was too polite to say anything. I felt really helpless not being able to see, and then I realized how nice it is to have finally found Drs Risco, and Clark who are very trustworthy and conscientious.
I was able to get an appointment within one day, and I got a contact exam and glasses prescription for $ 89. I’ve seen Dr Risco 3 times in the past and both she and Dr Clark are very warm, professional and caring. I’ve gone to an optometrist at another Costco before and he was less than professional in his attitude and gave me an inaccurate prescription that gave me headaches. Also, unlike some private optometrists who own the optical department, they don’t try to push expensive glasses or contacts on you. They really care about the health of your eyes as well, and they can take images of the inside of your eye to look for abnormalities.
I would highly recommend them.
