H&R Block

Although the agent I used seemed very experienced and qualified, I have come to find that she has made glaring errors and I have had to file amended returns for the last 3 years. On top of it, her fees more than doubled when I used her last year. I would caution anyone thinking about using this company. It seems not all tax firms equal. If ones taxes are very straight forward, then probably there should be no problems but she missed very obvious deductions.

I really wanted to give this location a five star rating but just can’t do it!
Although my tax rep was incredibly friendly I feel as though the service itself was a bit shady and very confusing. I’ve never used a tax service until this year (always used an online service) but for certain reasons I came to a «professional» this year.
I went for my initial appt in which the rep asked me to come back in three days to finalize. Ok… Wasn’t sure why it couldn’t be wrapped up in one day as it was a simple return but I obliged. Upon my return and tax completion I was informed that I owed H&R Block $ 245 to file my BASIC return! Holy cow, I was expecting the BASIC RETURN FEE of $ 39.95 as advertised. I was then informed that since I had two appts (not by choice) and all the «extra forms» (what? I had three W2’s because I had three jobs!) that’s why they charged so much.
I was shocked and told her I wouldn’t be paying that (as I wasn’t required to file with them) and that I’d be taking my business elsewhere. It was this time she offered me $ 100 to do the return! What? I told her to buzz off. If she could offer $ 100 why didn’t she offer that up front?
Buyer beware.
