T-Bone’s Records & Cafe

Found this wonderful little restaurant to go through Unilocal while driving on I 98 from Mobile to Natchez. Everything was delicious just as the reviews said.

Awesome place to eat and just hangout. The evil twin is by far one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth. Would recommend to everyone that hasn’t eaten here. Friendly staff, clean facility, big menu.

I went here for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. I’ve driven by it several times and I always see lots of cars there. I figured that was a good sign. I even tried to eat there last week, but it was packed, and the line was long. Again, another good sign.
Today, I got there early, and I ordered a cold brew coffee with Irish Cream and almond milk. It was delicious! It’s easily the best coffee in town! I’ve tried several coffee places here (I still need to check out the Depot Coffee) and none of them have been all that great. Joe Muggs is constantly running out of things like decaffeinated coffee and espresso, iced tea, almond milk, soy milk… they are absolutely horrible! Another coffee place here always, and I do mean ALWAYS gets my order wrong. I’ll order a blueberry muffin with a zebra mocha, and they’ll bring out a cinnamon roll with a hot chocolate. So, that said, it was nice to go to a café where I actually received what I ordered. Oh, and the coffee was delicious, and I’m kind of picky when it comes to coffee.
I also tried the Evil Twin panini. It was amazing! It has smoked turkey, pepper jack cheese, jalepenos, bacon and spicy sweet mustard on it. OMG — it was so good! I can’t wait to have it again. It was super filling too. I ordered the 6 inch and was full halfway through. I needed a box to take the rest home.
The staff is also super friendly. They were all full of smiles.
I’ll definitely be going back.

Great paninis great place to hang

Great fresh salads and smooth coffee. My favorite sandwich is the Moosiana. The turtle square is AMAZING. be sure to call in an order if you need if quickly. The line for lunch gets crazy.

Simply the best. Anytime I have company from out of town, I always bring them by. Always a great experience.

Great local business, coffee is good

Look. The staff is super nice and helpful, but the pricing is hysterical. I think post 26 year olds go here solely to support local businesses. The reality is there are other local places you will get better quality food for less cost. Most of this place’s appeal is status based. This was Javawerks… well Jw 7 years ago. Now it’s inching towards JW when it just became a place bought out by people solely interested in making a buck off of the co-​eds across the way. Reality is despite being a decent sized town this is one of the only places to get music that isn’t Best Buy. Bonus: you have to deal with the constant barrage of large sorority crowds/​aren’t we cool hipster crews.

Suggestion if you feel like they’re pressuring you to leave a tip: don’t leave them a tip. They’re making enough money jacking up the prices on albums and charging people full price plus shipping for special orders.
Decent food and the desserts are pretty good. The Oreo bar is worth dealing with a stoned tip-​pushy counter clerk.
Parking is totally lame. Some spots require rappelling gear to get in and out. But whatever.
Tbones is the only thing we’ve got around here that isn’t a crap chain and I’ve picked up some music from them and never had a «bad meal». They’re alright.

Friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere. Enjoyed our visit and wish we had found this place earlier in the day. Our visit in Hattiesburg was only 36 hours but we will brag about this place for a while.

Looking for an obscure, old Christmas carol. I walked up to the counter and whoever was behind it knew the song and within a minute had found it on a cd. Ordered it for me and it only cost $ 12. Got it within a week.
Love the vibe of the place. Not a coffee drinker, but they have a great selection of tea served hot or cold. Great salads too.

A great place to take a first-​date date if you are in hattiesburg. It will be a win-​win. If she’s a hipster, she’ll be enamored, and if not, she’ll see you as edgy, or even better, unique.
I took a first date here. It was an easy environment and even easier music in the backdrop assisting those crucial first sentences. I suggested this place and ordered a coffee. So did she. Coffee is safe right? No pressure.
There’s as much pressure as you allow it to be [yep, whatever is coming out of your mouth will be stupid dribble at any rate much like this review]. Me and you are on a first-​date in a way.
This is the place to embrace your folly. It sets the scene of forgiveness. The workers are very cool and take you as you are. There is no doubt these external factors will work in your favor as a first-​date-​goer (even in the post-​tinder era). Their inviting turbans and welcoming 12pm buzzed-​looks will accept you openly.
Wether your writing a book, on the hunt for a vintage record, or coming in for an afternoon beer and to watch some live music – this place delivers what your after. Even years later when your best plans have been cast asunder, you will not ever regret the time you spent in here. We will soon forget that time we met here, so let’s just focus on the enjoyment that only a stiff coffee, great music, and slightly over-​priced food can bring.
Since you are still reading, I’ll take for granted that I survived my first date with you. There’s no pressure here though– I won’t be asking for a second. Only a request. Let’s be real with each other and others like we’ve never been before– on an «as friends» basis.
We’re both sojourners in this rainy Hattiesburg afternoon who are both disappointed. Not really in each other, but in ourselves and the places we find ourselves in, like today. Join all us freaky people for a brief afternoon of fun and the freaky beats of a neo-​1960s jam. No pressure.

Just to preface this review. I used to love coming to T-​bones in college. It had a great atmosphere and you could come in and relax and work and not be pressured to buy things or be asked to move tables multiple times.
I hate that Harry (or I guess it may be more the employees) has changed this environment.
I came back in to town for a project and stopped by to edit what I was doing. As I was setting up my workstation against he wall I was asked to move. So the only available table against the wall was a big table. So like any one I sat at the edge and started editing. An employee approached me multiple times telling me that the table was for 5 or more people, when it was not marked that way. About 5 minutes later he came over with a sign stating the tables rules. He also came by 3 times pressuring me to buy something or leave. In the past I would come in and work and then eat. This really frustrated me and has really left a sour taste in my mouth. It seems like they are more in to making money now than actually treating the long time loyal customers with respect.
Like always the food was great but the atmosphere just got to me.
I wish Harry the best of luck. But this will be my last visit to T-​Bones.

Their power went out just as I approached the counter, most the pple behind me in line left. The guy at register told me he couldn’t take any money or make any food. So for the time being, I sat with my friends (who already had their food) and waited for the power to come back on. In meantime, I noticed customers were still receiving food and swiping their cards on the iPads that the café uses for payments. When one of the waitresses came by to check on us I told her that the man behind the counter told me I can’t order or pay for anything, so why were other people still able to do so? She said «no we can definitely get u taken care of, come with me let’s get u some food!» So I followed her to the counter, ordered, paid (their iPads still had battery life), and received a yummy salad and cookie. Unfortunately, at that point my friends had already finished their meal. I still enjoyed the food and atmosphere and would likely return.

Very cool and unique place. Books, music, coffee, beer, and food. How can you go wrong? All the things I love in one place. Local selection of beers, and food is good. No microwave stuff here! Definitely coming back!

Tbones NEVER disappoints ! From great food, love their salads and Cuban sandwich, to the friendliest wait staff in town. A unique place that attracts everyone from teenagers to their grandparents. Best kept secret in Hattiesburg that is becoming more popular with each new customer.

Try the cold brewed coffee. It will impress the pickiest coffee snob (I know because I’m married to one). I like mine on ice with Country Girls milk (a local dairy – no half and half needed). It tastes like it has carmel flavoring in it, but it doesn’t. It’s awesome.
I’ve honestly only eaten at TBones once. I always stop in for their cold brew and take it to go. Once, I got a breakfast casserole to go. It was good. It’s hard to go wrong with cheese and bacon on little yeast rolls. It had bell peppers in it, too, which was good and unexpected.
The atmosphere is fun and funky. It’s a record store and a café, which is fun.
It always smells strongly like cheese and burnt bagels. That’s the only negative I have to say. I never eat — in at TBones because I don’t want my hair to smell like food for the rest of the day. So that’s the reason for only giving four stars.
But their atmosphere and cold brew get five stars.

They have a great selection of music on CD and vinyl with a small stock of speakers and record players.
The coffee is fantastic! At Festival South, T-Bone’s won best cold brew and they deserve it! My favorite has to be the Hazelnut Breve though!
The employees are super nice. I highly recommend stopping by!

I feel like I missed out on the experience everyone else got here. Now, let me say that it’s not a bad place, but it’s not something I’d go out of my way for.
I stopped in on my way to New Orleans for a cup of chai and a sandwich. The chai was good, but very delicate and almost too creamy. I loved the little guitar pick they used to cover the lid! The tuna melt had old bay seasoning it it which helped, but it was still just an okay sandwich. Not BAD, but not good either.
Their wifi wasn’t working while I was there either. My goal was to plan my trip while I ate, so that nixed that. I ended up getting my food to go and left early. I’d stop in again if I was a local to retry it, but probably won’t go out of my way again if I’m just passing through.

Pretty decent lunch option in Hattiesburg. Cool record store vibe, with good sandwiches, chili, salads, etc. After ordering at the counter, you can sit in the dining room or one of the tables in the record store. I went with the club sandwich, which was very good, with legit bacon, fresh tomatoes, etc. I was a little surprised that it was a panini grilled sandwhich, but great, just the same. For my side, I went with the chili, which was delicious, and perfect for a «chilly» fall day.
The prices are reasonable, as well, but I do have an issue with these
places who have gone high-​tech with their iPad card readers and the minimum 15% gratuity. I have no problem tipping 15−20% for good service, but feeling pressured to tip 15−25%, after standing in line at a counter, before you’ve experienced any «service», is a bit presumptuous.
In spite of that, I’d go back for the food and cool music.
