Cape Cod Wishing Well

Cute. Clean. Quiet. Room is little small but enough room to be comfortable. Here for three months to work. Wally super nice and helpful in assisting to get room for my assignment. Easy access to everything. Would recommend. :)

Perfect solution for me & my daughter. Our family place in Dennis was crowded and we found Wishing Well through an internet search. Very reasonably priced, rooms were spotless, very comfortable bed, great AC, and plenty of hot water. Small room with dorm fridge. We just needed a place to sleep, shower and dress. Wally the owner & John the manager were very friendly. I left my phone charger and it was found and on its way back. Although WIFI was listed, it was very «spotty».

Those who travel down to the Cape for the summer pretty much know you are getting a 1 star motel for a 3 – 4 star price per night. This was a last minute trip, so, you get what you get. A place like this is not really worth a long review but when I receive such an answer from management/​ownership, it is a shame. Maybe a place like this works for some guests– to each their own. Just not for me and my family. Last minute trip during Cape peak season you get subpar standards.
Mostly cons at this place:
Don’t expect a lobby… there is an unoccupied motel office and outside of the office you will find a white board with your last name and the room you are assigned to. I have a very unique last name and would rather not have it & my room# advertised. Just saying…
Guest rooms are glorified Cape Cod motel cottages cut in half. Your room is unlocked upon arrival and the key is left inside the room. I don’t know how safe this process is but fine. We had a double room with double beds, tiny kitchenette, and equally tiny bathroom. Upon entry the room smelled like mold and we chatted with our neighbors & they stated their room smelled like cigarettes. Also, notice the checklist on the wall within your room.
Non-​existent staff on the premises… this is what we were told from other guests upon my arrival and further into my stay I learned from my own observation. You can call various contact numbers written onto a white board outside of the office. If there is an emergency you call one specific guy.
WIFI…Don’t expect it to work and don’t expect to get an apology from management. Wifi did not work properly during our 1 night stay. You could find the router but you could not login properly and stay connected. Reference the checklist in your room that states the Wifi signal is not strong. We ended up standing outside of the office to try & stay connected. NOTHING. We highly depend on Wifi in our line of work and a lot of time makes or breaks a decision for us. Emailed Wally regarding this situation and was told «Wifi was available before you arrived, is available now and was available while you were there. You should have called me or John for help. Wally» Apparently poor Wifi setup is considered an emergency and I should go out of my way to track someone down, my mistake.
Pros:
It was clean.

This little motel is all about bang for your buck. Sure, you can spend a zillion and half dollars on better accommodations for your vacation, but why would you? Are you a dunce? or just an unrealistic cheapskate? If you want something that Cape Cod wishing well doesn’t have, well you’re probably both.
I just stayed here «off season» (though in mid june), and it was $ 100 for the room for the night. I suspect it’s much more in say, mid july? [i just checked it goes up to $ 145] but probably still worth every penny.
I went down here with my friend, we stayed a night, it was perfect.
I posted a whole mess of pictures anyhow, you can see my room as it really was. It’s an older motel, my guess is 1950’s or 60’s. The room we had, room 7, was well kept up and very clean. The motel is pretty small, maybe 20 rooms total. it is encircled by a pea-​gravel driveway, and is set back from the busy street route 28 in West Harwich.
When you arrive, your name and room number are marked on the white-​board next to the generally-​empty manager-​office. The room key is waiting for you in your room. Go get it. The rooms have numbers on the exterior wall of the building so you can find which one is yours without needing to rely on your latent psychic abilities.
Wally, the very friendly owner, does not stay at the motel all day and night it seems. We did see him in the morning, cheerfully inviting guests to enjoy some of his strong hot coffee (much appreciated after the sunburns we got) and cold orange juice. It seems like he’s not on-​site most of the day. I’m guessing he has way better things to do the rest of the day, like you should. Should you need him, he is easily reached by a mere phone call, so don’t even sweat it. What do you even want? Room service? Fluff your pillow?
In the room, everything is painted white. The ceilings, the walls, the storage pieces on the bedsides and the stand for the TV were all coated in fresh coats of white paint. They love the white paint. The floor is laminate, and it was dust free when we arrived. It was easy for us to keep clean as well. If i had spilled a glug of beer on a rug in a motel room i’m sure it would be on the bill as a cleaning charge the next day. Instead i just grabbed a paper towel, and it wasn’t an issue.
There is a little tube-​TV with cable, (who seriously watches a TV on their vacation?) as well as a bit older but perfectly serviceable air conditioner. The toilet and sink were older heavy ceramic pieces, with new gleaming chrome faucets and worked perfectly. The shower is a bath/​stall combo sorta thing, it’s very big. If you had a young kid you could get enough water in there to scrub all the sand-​caked sections of salt-​water taffy you got them, off of their arms.
The bed was very soft, but perfectly comfortable. I was tired so I fell right asleep. The comforter and the sheets weren’t quite like the quality at the Four Seasons, but they were super clean and worked perfectly. Since I’m not really conscious while asleep, I didn’t really notice that they felt a tiny little bit scratchy. So it didn’t matter.
Each side of the bed had a little side table, and a lamp. The bulbs in the lamps were extremely bright. This is my single complaint of the whole place. Wally you should stop putting those 100 watt bulbs in the bedside lamps. While being able to wake up my friend sleeping next to me with the power of the sun itself in her eyes was an awesome thing, i would like to be able to read my book next time too. Maybe some 12−25−50 3 ways would do the trick. :-D
The room has a cute little kitchen with a sink, table, some cups and dishes from IKEA and a mini fridge. I put a six pack of beer in the fridge and it eventually became cold. Is THIS how fridges work? oh my gosh. It was pretty epic.
In fact, the motel is two doors down from a superb liquor store which you should go to. Who knows what a night with a bottle of peach schnapps could bring you? Maybe you could loosen yourself up a little bit? Perhaps you’ll say something clever and your wife will give you a kiss. Maybe you’ll even get lucky. Maybe she’ll slap your butt with a wire coat hanger and choke your air off like she used to when you were dating? Sure the kids are going to hear all the commotion next door, but trust me they know you’re an odd duck already.
So c’mon! Are you going to the cape to go to the cape, or to go hang out in a motel room? You’re going to spend 9 hours here a day TOPS so why spend a lot on it? Spend the money on your vacation instead, stupid. Buy your drooling kids some extra ugly CAPE COD sweatshirts they sell for $ 30 in downtown Chatham with the extra money. Buy your family an other go at the [actually totally disgusting] Cape Cod Super Buffet. The availability of nice inexpensive motels like this makes your vacation much better. This is exactly the place you need. You probably should stay here. I sure will. Thanks Wally.

I’ve stayed at the Cape Cod Wishing Well many times over the years. It never dissapoints. The rooms are clean and tidy and the staff has always been friendly and accomodating. The price is right — I’ll definitely be back!

While the attributes that led to my previous 5-​star rating still stand, I’m downgrading to 4 stars because of my most recent experience.
I was running out of time to book a hotel for a wedding on the Cape. I needed affordable lodging with a kitchenette for the last weekend in June. The Wishing Well didn’t have a kitchenette available, so I reserved a room with a fridge and microwave online. I got the typical auto-​response email and then a personal email confirming the reservation within a day. Knowing my lodging was all set, I sent off my RSVP for the wedding in the affirmative. A day later, I got a new email from the folks at the Wishing Well, saying they had accidentally overbooked and would need to cancel my reservation (unless I wanted to stay Friday and Sunday nights, but not Saturday — the night of the actual wedding). So now I’m stuck without a place to stay unless I want to fork over double the money for an equivalent room elsewhere.
The price is still right on this place, despite its less-​than-​idyllic setting. If you opt to stay here, I’d just recommend calling to make the reservation instead of doing it online… hopefully less room for error that way! I’d say it’s a good sign when a motel has enough interest to be overbooked a month out.

This motel served it’s intended purpose which was to get away to the Cape for a weekend and be close to sites and the beach which it’s boasts on the website and in it’s brochure. It is close to the beach, but this is a beach that allows only stickered parking from town residents and the walk is more than 10 mintues since you are carrying your beach chairs and towels. There are much closer lodging on this street filled with inns and hotels and motels. The place is no frills and there is no attendant in the office, your name is simply written on a board and you go to the assigned room. Felt like I was in summer camp. Wally the owner is reachable by phone near the board and is there in the mornings to serve the fresh coffee and blueberry muffins in this area. The rooms were tiny and a dingy, having very stripped down versions of a summer cabin with very hard mattresses and tiny bathrooms with dirty standing showers. The floor was so filthy we had to were our flip flops out of the shower so we didnt stick to the dead mosquitoes. It is on te main route of 28 which is reachable to most Cape spots, but for the money yu are going to spend here, go farther down into Chatham or even Orleans. We saw tons of Motels that were closer to the beach and looked nicer. This place was just okay. Even if you are not going to spend time in the room, you at least want it clean.
