This year the liquid lounge was not a disappointment. The exhibits were fun and the view from the top of the science center was absolutely breath taking. My only issue with the event was the drinks and food. The drinks were mostly craft beers and sangria. and the food was strange and lacked variety. After a few drinks I wasn’t looking to eat lamb leg or pigs feet. However, the atmosphere and exhibits were well worth the $ 18 cover charge. Definitely recommend! Just eat before you go!

I’ve been going to Liquid Lounge off and on for a couple years now and it can be a hit or miss event. I suggest passing it up unless you have a keen group of friends who are ok being corny coming with you. Lately crowds seem smaller(a good thing!), themes seem less… interactive? connected to exhibits?(basically disappointing), and special one-night exhibits harder to get into as they close earlier or accommodate fewer people. The regular exhibits are all available. If you’ve only gone once or twice they are fun indeed but once the newness of acting like a kid again wears off there’s little appeal to wait in line for a turn. The traveling exhibits are not always open but when they are they add a really nice touch to the evening. Unfortunately its almost impossible to do more than one of the special one-night only exhibits like making a photo book, getting an air brush tattoo, or climbing in a snow globe. I recommend you chose wisely and be dedicated to waiting in a line that may get cut off before you even get your turn(happened to me on 3 separate occasions with no warning). There are lines everywhere! For elevators, drinks, food, or simply because one popped up around you due to poor traffic management. Don’t get suckered waiting in a super long drink or bathroom line. There are multiples scattered around the museum and there’s always one or two that are super short. Remember them as you’ll want to return throughout the night. As for the dj, he’s pretty good at playing a decent mix of music. Unfortunately its just not very fun to dance at the science center. Partly because I think they have changed where the dance floors are from year to year. I think they are trying to find the most accommodating space in case their attendance sky-rockets again but honestly, the latest configuration is probably the worst. The DJ is right in front of a drink station so the drink line goes into the middle of the dance floor. How stupid is that?! And the after hours dance party at Crush is exactly that, an extremely uncomfortable crush of bodies. Overall, it’s a unique night out and I will still go whenever the theme catches my eye or I’m bored but my general expectations have definitely fallen. Who knows, though? They have changed things up before(so many new food carts!) so maybe they will do so again? Here’s hoping!
