History
Established in 1999.
The Connecticut Center for School Change (the Center) is a statewide, non-profit organization with a mission to help all districts teach all students to achieve at high standards.
We support comprehensive pre-K — 12 educational reform through technical assistance, leadership development programs, conferences and seminars, research and application of best practices.
While we work statewide, at least 50 percent of our program effort is directed to the districts with the greatest need, as defined by the State Department of Education.
Established in 1994 by the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund, the Center became an independent 501©(3) organization in January 1999.
Meet the Manager
Andrew L.
Manager
The Center’s Executive Director, Andrew Lachman, came to the Center in 2000 after serving for 13 years as one of the senior advisors on policy and program development and director of external affairs to former superintendents Anthony J. Alvarado and Elaine Fink in Manhattan’s Community School District 2. He played a key role in that district’s implementation of standards-based education reform. Mr. Lachman assisted the superintendent in developing and managing innovative educational programs, professional development initiatives for improving teaching and learning, and strategies for enhancing school leadership. Mr. Lachman has overall responsibility for the Center and its operations and programs.
