Went here for a friend’s birthday. They have about a dozen games and a lot of beer on tap. Wait staff is incredibly slow. Everyone was taking bets to see if they’d actually get the beer they ordered. Most of the time they wouldn’t. No one really complained because craft beers were only $ 2. I wasn’t drinking so my non alcoholic labatts was $ 3.75. Womp womp.

What a great place to play all the classics! DK BeerCade has a great selection of vintage arcade games that you just dont see anymore. They could of done some of these games with a 60 in 1, but there’s nothing like playing a game in its orginal cabinet and controls! Best part is you can get drinks and great food while you play with your friends. Brings back the feeling of old Major Magics!

Great idea. I’ve been to a Bar cade in grand Rapids and it was a lot of fun. So for my b day this year(I’ll never grow up!) I wanted to play some arcade games. The beer cade is at the back of Terrys Terrace… which was much more of a restaurant than the bar I thought it would be. Got there at about 6 on a Friday and they were pretty full. Not too many people gaming. They have about a dozen games, and some pretty decent ones(but no 2 or 4 player coop games… and those were the best!). There seemed to be no service in the games area. Some of my friends got a table in the restaurant and they would bring me drinks, but a server never checked on me. We also tried a couple beer flights. which are always fun… but here they only give you a shot glass worth… not the usual 3 – 5 oz other places do. Also disappointing… Donkey Kong didn’t work. Neither did Terminator 2, one of the joysticks on NBA jam, and a joystick on street fighter was janky. And the bowling game was pretty weak. Also… no one had cell phone service… so I couldn’t look up any cheat codes or fatalities for Mortal Kombat 2. The broken machines also meant we wasted like $ 5 in quarters. They had a lot of tasty beers on tap. I tasted some of the food. It seemed fresh, but was all a little on the bland side. Including the spinart dip, which comes with way too little dip for being almost $ 10. I would consider coming back if they rotated in some more awesome games(Simpsons, TMNT, 4 player Xmen, Avengers, etc) that actually work… or at least warn me they don’t work before I pump quarters into them. And adding some drink holders or drink stands near the games would be great. There’s just one big table in the middle surrounded by the games… and when your on a run in Xmen Children of the Atom, it’s hard to run back to your beer for a swill!

It’s located within Terry’s Terrace, which is a well-known bar in the area. While I’m not all that impressed with Terry’s Terrace(WAY overpriced, underwhelming food, AND pricey beer), the DK Beercade may give me a reason to go back a little bit more often. The selection isn’t huge, and it’s unfortunate that they don’t have beer holders built into the machines, but it’s a much needed addition to a mediocre-at-best bar. I think it’s their only way of keeping Terry’s open, and it’s a wise decision. Terry’s, if you want to stand a chance, change your pricing. I don’t drink it, but $ 3.95 for a pint of Bud Light is OUTRAGEOUS, considering there are a few places off the top of my head that I know of who charge $ 2.75 to $ 3 for a 24oz glass. DK Beercade’s a great idea, but without Terry’s stepping up their game, I don’t think it’ll be as successful as it could be. I appreciate(no, love) the idea of a beercade, but it’s a bit small. The bigger dealbreaker for me though is the beer pricing — way off the mark compared to basically any other bar around.
