We loved the kitchen! We wandered upon this place when another one of our favorite restaurants was closed. The food all looked good(see wall menu pic), but a little pricier for what you get due to the quality. The first time we went, we sat at the bar, and the service was great. I had the gourmet grilled cheese, and my friend enjoyed the chicken and biscuit! Both were delicious. My only complaint the second time for brunch is that they don’t have table service so you order at the bar and then they bring it to the table. That time we ordered the crab cake sliders, hmac cheeseburger, and the brunch special with mimosas. All so good! It could be so much better if they had that customer interaction with the service. Throughout the week, they have different nights. We love doing the karaōke on Wednesday. So much fun!

Had the portobello French dip and my husband had the salmon blt. Both were excellent. The French fries were perfect, crispy on the outside. We go to a lot of music here so we will be coming here more often early to eat at The Kitchen. What goodness will we have next. Can’t wait.

I love HMAC and was excited they added a separate restaurant/bar area. The space is just what you’d expect – chill, friendly staff, loaded with artwork that’s for sale. The outdoor beer garden is a nice addition. The menu is pretty extensive and covers a lot of different types of food. They had a good selection of appetizers such as soft pretzels with a hemp seed mustard and a Gouda cheese dipping sauce – very good! I ordered the beef brisket sandwich on brioche. I chose the mac & cheese as my side. The sandwich was very good. The subtle flavor of horseradish complemented the beef and onion ring nicely. The mac & cheese was smoky, cheesy and delicious! My husband ordered the fried chicken & biscuits. That came with collard greens, which were also very good. The beer selection is decent and it’s so convenient to stop here to load up and then pop over to the main building to see a show. Very well done!

We went for dinner Friday evening and the food was awesome. The brisket and brioche sandwich was ridiculously good. My hubby had the cowboy Reuben, also delicious. I had the cucumber and rosemary gimlet which sounded refreshing on a warm evening. It was expertly prepared; one of the best drinks I have had in recent memory. You wander in, look at the huge menu written in colorful chalk on the wall and then order at the bar. They hang onto your credit card and you take a seat. Young hipster waitstaff are nice and efficient without being effusive. It’s a little different setup than the usual, but that’s part of what makes it fun. It’s big and airy with huge tables and lots of room. Local art hangs on the walls, for sale I assume. Music wafts in from upstairs. We will certainly return.

The food is alright. The prices are diffenitly fair for being so creative casual. Meaning new twists on homie casual comfort southern inspired food. Buttt set up is super annoying. No servers. And the tabs arnt transferable to the«kitchen» I literally just went to the bathroom to fill my water cuz the bar was busy. I mean put a iPad on the table so at least the drinkers(of alcohol $$$) can place a order for another drink?

When coming in from outside there were a lot of people just loitering around the front door which did not make our initial approach very inviting. The service was not bad except that of the two bartenders that were waiting on us the one consistently either got our drinks wrong or does not understand basic bartending terminology. People had ranted to me about how great the cocktail menu is but it was not only extremely underwhelming also quite overpriced for the quality. I have no issue paying $ 10+ for a cocktail that is well craft and original but not for what they were serving. Whomever thought of putting the food menu only up on the wall(that or our bartender did not want to give us a menu) needs to think about function over form. Half of the menu is constantly blocked by people standing around. The fries were great and the sandwiches were, eh(bread should have been great but since the filling had too much sauce it was soggy). Overall the place has potential and I am anxious to come back in a bit when hopefully the kinks are worked out.

The food is fantastic! Not too fancy, but yet far from boring. Expertly prepared with the perfect balance of seasoning. I ordered from the daily specials – Goose Island beer battered cheese curds to share(so good!) and the Moroccan veggie burger which I’d say is one of the best veggie burgers I’ve had. My boyfriend ordered from the regular menu and had nothing but good things to say about the portobello French dip. Service was fine but it seems like they’re still working out the kinks. Atmosphere is low-key and laid back. The Kitchen will definitely be a spot we return to often.

Awesome food in a casual, laid back, contemporary atmosphere. Very cool outdoor courtyard and an adjoining live music venue. Great beer selection and very friendly staff. No sit down service, although, don’t let that deter you because the food is amazing. I have been there twice in a week! Please see the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center Facebook Page for photos of bvenue and menu. Reservations are only accepted for large groups.
