Little Learners’child Development Center

My daughter has been attending Little Learner’s preschool program since the beginning of July of 2015. I spent an intense amount of time searching for schools in the Harrisburg and West Shore locales prior to selecting Little Learners. In fact, this school was the very first one I checked-​out due to its extremely close proximity to my work place. By the time I was finished searching, it was clear to me where I wanted my child to go.
I now write this review coming-​up on my daughter’s 4^th month there. I waited this long to write, because I have found that at previous ‘schools’ the initial shiny-​ness extremely quickly dulls when you see how things really are. Or, if a change in management occurs, etc. Below is my comprehensive review of my experiences with Little Learners thus far.
Curriculum: I am extremely happy with how my daughter is progressing within their system. She turned 4 in May, knows her days of the week, her months, her alphabet, counted to 40 the other day, and has a general knowledge that surprises me. I have found that each day it seems like she is learning something new, and each day it seems to me as if she has advanced in one way or another. The things that I listed above are just the tip of the iceberg though. Colors, animals, sights, and sounds of various things have all been things I have noticed my daughter learning.
In addition to the above, are the non-​book-​knowledge related things she has learned. From socialization, to mental maturity, to psychological advancements, and emotional maturity; my daughter has seemingly thrived at Little Learners. I am very happy with this particular aspect of their center.
Curriculum: ⁵⁄₅
Teachers /​Staff: As a former teacher myself, and one with a degree in Education as well as teaching certifications in multiple states, I have immense respect for those in this profession. It isn’t easy dealing with kids all day. In addition, and sometimes more challenging, is dealing with the parents that all of these children have. Undoubtedly, there is no way to keep everyone happy; and I am sure that even the most cautious schools/​day cares have incidences that are simply out of their control. That said, I can pleasantly say that I have had ZERO incidences at Little Learners.
At previous centers, in previous cities in which we lived, I seemingly had at least an issue per week … sometimes more. I have not had one here. Honestly, I have waited three + months to write this review because I have been waiting for one, and wanted to see how they handled it. I have not had the opportunity. This makes interacting with the teachers and staff here extremely pleasant because it makes me believe that they not only care about their jobs, but that they also care about the kids that they teach. My daughter constantly has positive things to say about her teachers, and I have always been treated with respect when I have interacted with them.
The one issue that I had, was a billing-​related issue where I paid 12 weeks in advance. They contacted me after 10 weeks and let me know that I was past due. This was handled quickly and professionally within the same day. Actually, within a couple hours… They didn’t send an email or a text… they called me to explain and apologize for the mistake.
The last thing I want to mention here, is the seemingly low turn-​over we have experienced with her teachers. At other centers, it seemed like she had a new teacher every month or two. Here, she has stability that cannot go undervalued.
Teachers & Staff: ⁵⁄₅
Facility: The facility is beautiful. It is brand new as of August 2015. My daughter attended while they were still in their old facility, and it was OK. This one is very nice and very clean. It is somewhat of a pain in the butt to get in and out of since it is right across from Giant on Linglestown Rd, but, admittedly, it is a little less difficult than their previous location on North Progress.

Price: Honestly, I hate paying for school. It is expensive. Too expensive. That said, Little Learners is right in-​line with other schools in the area, but the quality of their service is extremely high. For me, this seems like a top tier school for about the same price as other options in the area with far inferior offerings. From their brand new center, to their quality staff, to the obvious advancements my daughter is making within their curriculum — paying for something that I hate paying for is made a little bit better knowing that what I am paying for is of high-​quality and will likely pay its dividends in my daughter’s future. The only complaint I have is that they do not accept credit cards. I like getting the points on my card… and it makes budgeting easier. This is an inconvenience in today’s day-​and-​age.

Final Thoughts: I am very satisfied with my experience thus far. I whole-​heartedly recommend Little Learners to everyone!
