Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area is a non-profit housing organization. Habitat for Humanity seeks to ensure everyone has a simple decent and affordable home. We have a Homeowership program, which helps to move families out of poverty housing, and a Critical Home Repair program that focuses on addressing code violations, acceability, and safety.
Habitat for Humanity is not a give away program. Each of the programs have specific qualifications that included have a need, an ability to pay, and a willingness to partner. Habitat strives to give a hand up, not a hand out.
History
Established in 1983.
Habitat was founded in Americus, Georgia by Millard Fuller. There are thousands of affiliates located across the nation and world wide.
Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area was established in 1983 and has been serving all of Dauphin County.
