History

Established in 1949.

The Rose Block Building, where Durham Hardware Store is located, was built in 1914. Over the years, the three part building has been the proud site of several local businesses.

However, a locally owned hardware store has been a tradition of the location and Harrisburg since 1920 to present day. In the 90-​plus years of its existence, the hardware store has had four owners. The most notable, Mr. Durham, the second owner, who over saw the store from 1949 to 2006.

The business was then sold to long time employee of over 40 years, Janet Duke. Mrs. Duke has recently retired and made room for a proud, new owner, Thomas Folder.

Although the site will be updated, the store will not lose it’s small town, «remember when» ambiance that area customers have come to expect and enjoy.
