Exactly what you expect from a little place next to the train station! Convenient, quick, nice service! Hasn’t changed since I was a kid. It’s like diner food. Order a standard like BLT. It will be just right!

Walked out of my office to see this dingy looking restaurant. I decided why not. I walked in with an enthusiastic man at te front who took me to a booth immediately. First thing is I noticed were how small the booths were for a man of my size. I am not huge but it was a tight fit for my belly. Lol Service was fast and after a quick look at te menu I knew what I wanted. So I ordered the Reuben Melt and a coffee. Coffee is so so, but I can be harsh on coffee taste. As I sit here I have my earphones on and the sound of the regular patrons are fighting over my music. I don’t hate it. It kinda nice to hear people enjoying there time together. Well food is here the sandwich is tasty and on normal sized bread. So the sandwich isn’t huge which is fine with me. I am enjoying the fries also and the coleslaw is a good sweet taste. So off to enjoy my meal.

This place is real close to the main Harrisburg Transit center and is a hub for transient folks who sit drinking a can of beer at a time. Many folks barely sitting up with a Steele Reserve clutched firmly in their grip did I mention it was 10AM. The food was cooked fast(no one was eating) and looked ok. Typical greasy spoon with no surprises in taste. Only came here because i was waiting on a train and wanted to eat but would never do it on purpose again.

My only problem with The Alva is that they tend to have spotty hours. But I love dining here when they’re open! It’s very old school and I like the waitresses. The food is good and the overall experience makes you feel all cozy inside :-)
