I came, I drank, I had fun. What more can you ask for? The Harmony Inn is a beautiful place to come for drinks and a bite to eat located in the National Historic District in Harmony, Pennsylvania. Very laid back atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating offering up a great selection of top shelf liquor and craft beers. Great people, Great service, and good times for sure. A must stop spot if you’re in the area.

Oh darn. I was really hoping that the owners would bring the Slippery Rock menu and quality to this remodel. Menu was disappointing pre-fab food. Building is very cool renovation of a historic house. But food doesn’t match it. Best item on the menu is the salmon BLT. But the bread is too thick and stale. Almost got it right but dropped the ball in important details. Returned again 5 months later to see if the kitchen had gotten better. Yeah no. Salad was yesterday’s greens and not much of those. Fish taco was ok but drippy and not in a good way. Pulled pork sandwich had over herbed the pork with rosemary– strudel deserts were prefab. Cool building — really really wish a kitchen overlord would come and kick some culinary butt. Try number 3 — the shallot vinaigrette was inedible.

Charming ambiance in this house of antiquity. Dined in the library with a lovely waiter who served us hand and foot. Food was excellent. Live music in the bar. Good times had by all. Will definitely return in the summer when the patio is reopened.

I love the Log Cabin Inn but I love the Harmony Inn just as much! The Harmony inn is just as crowded if not more because it’s a bit smaller than the log cabin inn. But the harmony inn has great atmosphere, and a great bartender(here’s to you Scott — if it weren’t for you the bar wouldn’t be as great as it is). The food is good too. If I had to be brutally honest I’d say the log cabin is a bit better in the food department but in defense of the harmony inn, they focus on their German theme and boy does that come across in how awesome the beer is! If you like beer, then come to the harmony inn. I love many of their craft beers(firehouse and bucco blonde are my faves — slimy pebble, an homage to their slippery rock location/heritage, is also pretty good). All-in-all, there isn’t another bar around that I’d rather go to. I can’t wait for their patio to open! And just a side note, if you do go to the dining area, you won’t be disappointed; the wait staff and the menu are great. I just prefer the bar area/atmosphere.

Went here on a date night with my wife and the food was pretty good, even better they have North Country Brewing beers. There is a little bit of something for everyone on this menu. There are 2 floors where you can sit, I would reccomend upstairs if you want to have a nice sit down meal and evening, downstairs if you are hanging with some friends and getting sandwiches. There was some outdoor construction on a patio area and I’m looking forward to heading back and trying it out.

Beer as good as at Slippery Rock, but food was so so. I got the parmesan ranch wings, i wasnt ready for something heavy after a big lunch. They were free of taste and under cooked. Not a goodbthing. Wife got a turkey Devonshire and it was eh. New location so will give them time.

The new owner has completely reinvented the Harmony Inn. The servers are great and the food is amazing. The atmosphere is fun and friendly but still professional. I will definitely be back.

Love taking out of town guests to Harmony Inn. I am not a huge fan of German food but they have a great selection and everyone has always really liked their meal. Great beer selection and I love that you can get a flight to try any of their beers on tap. Make sure you try some North Country Brewing beer! They also have a whisky tasting you can do! Very cool place to just hang out and try some new things.

First time back since the new owners took over. Friday December 18 place was averagely busy. Sat in the Bar area. Bar tenders were great– friendly, quick and your drinks were dry when you made the decision. Ordered food to go however, there was a miscommunication with the kitchen staff, our food took a long time and was cold by the time we received. Manager was on top of the concern and was extremely generous and very courteous while addressing. Minus the fact the food was cold.(Order Buffalo wings, Ruben, and the Holy Cow) after reheating — it was fabulous. Had the Jack Frost Winter Warmer — quite tasty. We are definitely looking forward to our next visit.

When I heard NCB had acquired Harmony Inn, I was filled with anticipation that Harmony could sing along with Slippery Rock as having destination pubs. I have not only had my expectations fulfilled; but surpassed as this Inn has become my go-to spot in Western PA. The NCB beer selections are vetted with the ABV’s and the Buck Snort Stout is my overall fave if I am going to linger enough for the strength of the stout to mellow. Be mindful of it’s power, lest you count it like a «normal» Pilsner and get flummoxed by it’s strength. Sausage; made with beer, by Harmony Inn’s elves. They offer it in a trio with potato pancakes, kraut and traditional applesauce, sour cream and sweet horseradish stone ground mustard. It is a menu standout. Each link is distinctive with the star brew shining through a finely ground link with great snap. If I was Lady of the Inn, I would highlight these scrumptious links in several iterations on the menu. They could fill the house. I have had the opportunity to sample the appetizer menu several times now and each app that I have tasted has been really good. Stars for me were goat cheese pillows with port n berry dip. The Bezeln(pretzel) and Pilsner Fondue are also excellent bites to pair with their great beer. They do have your standard brews for the more timid beer tippers. A wide selection of specialty burgers and sammies are sure to please anyone with an appetite. A friend’s steak salad brought a large dish of greens with all the right fixin’s. You can’t go wrong as each dish is brought from the proficient kitchen to the table by skilled staff. My last mention is for a nice selections of whiskey and whisky. A local, Strip District distillery supplied a terrific rye. Give Wigle a try. It is young, but full flavored and the water used has a tiny hint of mineral at the finish. I would buy a bottle if PA had even reasonable beverage laws. Well, a discussion for another forum. Meanwhile, I recommend Harmony Inn as a destination for any taste-o-Phile in the region.

Great new menus, very cool atmosphere in the quaint small town of Harmony. Inside and outside patios(looks like they’re redoing the outside patio) lots of live music. Great German cuisine and beer choices for a very fair price.

What a find! We happened upon the inn just by chance while passing through Harmony. I am so pleased. We ordered a few craft beers: strawberry wheat and a pumpkin ale. They were tasty! The waitress was very helpful when we asked for suggestions. She recommended the fondue for an appetizer and the jaeger schnitzel for an entrée. WOW! Extremely delicious! Definitely worth another visit.

I ate here twice last week, once for dinner and once for lunch. The building is an old mansion turned inn and pub turned current restaurant. It has retained all of its historic touches and is nestled along one of the main streets of the very quaint town of Harmony. Wednesday when we went for a late dinner there was a band playing outside so we opted to sit on the upstairs patio. This is such a great location. We were able to look over the balcony to the outdoor patio below and hear the music perfectly. Actually it was still a little loud so I think sitting on the patio would have been too noisy for dinner. That night we had a fantastic waiter. We let him choose the beers for our beer flight(six 5oz beers for $ 10! Deal!) which are all either county or state brewed. My favorite was the Dingleberry. It reminded me of Framboise. For dinner we started with their soft pretzels(my weakness) and they were served with two sauces: one a cheese and the other a mustard vinegarette. They were delectable. For my entrée I ordered the shrimp and scallop dinner with a salad and potato pancakes. This is their most expensive item on the menu at $ 28. The house salad I had with their homemade ranch dressing. It was excellent. The potato pancakes I had with sour cream. You must try them. They are cooked perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The shrimp and scallops came on skewers and were grilled. The portion size was ok but they were dressed in a rosemary/thyme sauce that really did not compliment fish. For lunch on Saturday we sat outside on the patio. I ordered a Dingleberry pint. We also had the pretzels again. There was a very long wait for our drinks and order. For my entrée I got the fish sandwich. When our waitress brought our order she asked if we could close our check because her shift was ending. Reluctantly we said yes because she was worried about getting the tip. When she came back with the credit card I told her that I was unhappy with my meal. I never ever complain unless it is a serious issue. Well something went wrong in the fryer because the thick bread coating on the fish was soft and laden with oil. When I cut into the sandwich a mixture of oil and water came rushing out. It really was inedible. So I told her and she looked at me not knowing what to do. So she had to go get her manager. The manager came over and I showed her. The manager was fantastic, so pleasant. I apologized for having to complain but she made me feel so at ease. She said she really appreciates feedback because that helps them improve. What a nice surprise to be treated so kindly. She agreed that there was an error. I then had to explain to her that we had already had to cash out, etc. So she had to re-run the bill. By this time since it took so long for our drinks, app and then to finally get our food we didn’t have time to wait around for a new sandwich so she deducted it. All in all this is a great place to enjoy an afternoon or evening. Even though I didn’t have luck on my dinner or lunch entrees that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t return. The ambiance, pretzels, potato pancakes and specialty beers definitely make it worthwhile.

I like their restaurant in Slippery Rock, North Country Brewing. At the Harmony Inn, they are sticking with the roots of Harmony and featuring German cuisine. I am not a big fan of German food. I have to be in the mood for it. So if you like the food at the Slippery Rock Restaurant, it’s not the same. You may or may not like it. I started with the beer sampler, I liked that they identified each beer by writing them down. I think they make decent beer but I am not a beer connoisseur by any means. For an appetizer, we got the ploughman’s platter. This consisted of sausages, cheese, fresh bread, hot peppers, and spicy mustard dipping sauce. I thought it was good and would get it again. My mom got the goat cheese pillows. I did not try them, but my mom and my husband thought they lacked flavor. For my main entrée I wanted to get the one that features their German sausages. I have been here a few times and each time they are out of it. This time was no different, so I was again disappointed. I ended up settling for the Bavarian Burger. I got a side of German Potato Salad and greens flavored with garlic. I liked the burger and thought it was very tasty. I also liked the German potato salad. The greens were good but could have used more garlic flavor. I would definitely order the same meal again. Each time we come, the food has been progressively getting better. Especially since North Country Brewing took the restaurant over. The food portions are generous and are reasonably priced. Since this is our neighborhood, we will be returning.

Went again with friends from our community. Food was very good. Speatzel was very good. German influenced menu is very diverse. there is something for everyone. I hsd a turkey devenshire, what makes it remarkable is the beer cheese sauce, which was excellent, dont miss the pretzel appetizer. great dipping sauces go great with their craft beer, I had the Firehouse ale, which was excellent, I also had the stone-house stout. tasted like Guinness, which I also like, seemed to have the distinctive qualities of nitrogen based beer, good, but not what I expected from microbrew stout. I have also had Bucksnort Stout, which is excellent. This spot is unique, and well worth going out of your way to experience. ther permitting, I suggest seating on thier outdoor patio, which is wonderful. Food is consistently good. And a great place for traditional German specialties!

Took us few minutes to find parking because they have a small lot. The older lady at the door looked at us oddly when we asked to sit outside but then grabbed menus and headed out. My menu ended up being dirty and when the waiter came I had to ask for beer list which is odd because this place is owned by a great craft beer place in Slippery Rock. I suspect the hostess should have included that also. On the good side this old place has great ambiance and a nice outdoor seating area with a working fireplace.. The menu is German influenced with a great selection of craft beer. It also has the story of the Inn which I didn’t get to read because they grabbed it away after the order. If you are going go to all that trouble and expense — leave a copy on the table for everyone to read. I had a fried pastry sandwich with potato pancakes and my wife had the chicken and creamed spatzle. We topped it off by sharing German chocolate cake. Food wise: we loved it! Service from the waiter was very good and attentive. The hostess: meh… It is a long(31 mi) drive for us go to Harmony and we have resolved to hit it several more times to try more of the menu. We think our friends would like it too if we can convince them to make the drive. PS: we loved the music too a great R&B/jazz type mix with a horn section. Don’t see that too much anymore.

This place is about 35 – 40 minutes from Pittsburgh, but its worth the drive! Its an Historic house that the restaurant is in. It has a nice porch for sitting and having a drink, there is an upstairs outside balcony with tables on it which is over looking the street very nice. They has an extensive beer menu. The food was really good, I got the Henpeckin chicken. Theres a beautiful outside area to dine at also with a fireplace, and lights hanging from the trees its really nice.

Stopped here on the way home after attending a play in Pittsburgh. My parents had heard favorable views and decided to give it a go. We arrived around 5:15 on a Sunday for dinner. The hostess sat our party of four in a section that already had a 10 person table that had yet to order. Because of this, it took ages for us to order drinks and food. We sat there for probably a good 10 – 15 minutes before our server came to our table to order drinks because he was taking the(rather lengthy) orders of the big table. He was running back and forth like mad for this table and I feel ours(and the table of two people in the corner) felt the brunt of that. We had been sat at the same time as another family of three(they were in a different section). By the time we received our food, that family had already ate and were leaving. I checked my watch and we had been sitting for about an hour before our main dish came out(we didn’t order an appetizer) because our section had to wait for the food of the 10 person table to be served(as per most restaurant rules: first in, first out). The wait wasn’t the part that displeases me but the fact we never received an apology from anyone regarding the length of time it took to receive our food. We weren’t in a hurry by any means, but it would have been nice to have been given some sort of understanding when we would get our food. As for the food, mine was decent. The garlic green beans weren’t very garlicky(would have been better if they had been sauteed rather than sprinkled with minced garlic) and the Henpeckin’ chicken I had was acceptable. My mom said her sandwich(something Jamaican inspired) was amazing. There was definitely some timing that needs to be assessed here. There really shouldn’t have been this issue when the restaurant wasn’t extremely busy(no wait to be seated, etc.).

The menu is confusing. It reminds me of one of those places that Gordon Ramsey would visit and really slim the menu down and make it cohesive. We visited early spring of 2011 and the service was atrociously bad. And I can’t blame the server ATALL. She was trying so hard, but she was the only server and was working the outdoor patio, the bar area, and the dining room. The layout of the place would have made this next to impossible so I can’t even imagine how hard it must have been for her. I can however blame the management as there were two people just standing behind the bar, watching this woman flounder, and not helping at all. It took almost 2 hours for us to have dinner, and it wasn’t a multi course meal. The food wasn’t bad, it was actually kinda good, but we haven’t been back. I’d also like to say how disappointing the upkeep being done on this place is. As we sat there, we had a lot of time to really enjoy what was once amazing architectural details. But, a lot of the upkeep and painting has been done very sloppily. Someone desperately needs to take a razor to the windows to get the paint splatters off. It would make a huge difference! The trim painting was bad as well. It’s sad because this is a gorgeous old place! I’d love to see someone come in and give it the TLC it deserves!
