Purser Family Park

This dog park is my go to. There is no supervision by park officials, so naturally everyone is at their own risk. There are, of course bad dog owners, aggressive dogs and defensive pet parents. There are also people who bring tiny dogs to the big dog sections and many without a clue. You really shouldn’t expect the dog park to be any different. That is a dog park. Most of the time everyone is pleasant and there aren’t any issues. Every so often someone decides to be dumb. I’ve only had to leave the park due to poor dog behavior a few times. You can usually spot it a mile away. Have a big, aggressive and confrontational man walking around the park being loud? He’s going to have some big dog that does the same thing. Have owners on their phone never glancing up once to curtail their dog’s behavior? Their dog is likely going to be going bonkers. But most of the dogs and most of the people are nice and friendly. The park has benches and shade and is pretty great.

This is my favorite place to bring my dog. My only complaint is I wish they would fix the dog water fountain. There’s a mile long paved trail with doggie cleanup bags, and a little creek that runs through the whole park for dogs to cool off in. There’s two gated dog parks, one for large and one for small dogs (they divide them by over or under 30lbs). There’s clean stocked bathrooms and a park for children as well!

I was there today between 1 & 2 & there was this couple that just did not care what there dog was doing. He was going around humping other peoples dogs & the lady asked the girl if she could get her dog and that it was humping hers all she said was so, some of our animals don’t like to be humped & get aggressive towards dogs who do it to them. Personally people who aren’t going to care or at least keep a little bit of an eye on their dog shouldn’t go to the dog park. Other than that i have not had problems with anyone there.

Decent walking trail as well as small and large dog park. Also has a playground, restrooms.

I was excited to go to this dog park but have not returned. I could not believe the amount of dog waste that owners did not pick up. I walked around and picked up as much as I could so as not to step in it. There also was a few aggressive dogs there. It was sad because it is a beautiful park if people would just use common sense.

This is an amazing park located in the one of the beautiful harker heights neighborhoods. Many options to explore: new playgrounds, many park benches, frisbee golf, running pathway, and 2 dog parks!
The playground is updated and well-​kept. Being an adult and not having a kid, I do not recall the details of the playground, but it seems pretty fun.
As for the park benches, many of them are covered and kept clean.
I have never played frisbee golf, but I do not recall seeing any around harker heights or killeen. Yet, they have a number of goals.
For the running pathway, I think it is roughly a mile if you run the complete loop on pavement. It gives a great view of the neighbors backyards and the view of the entire park.
Lastly, the 2 dog parks are divided by the size of the dog. Under 30lbs and greater than 30lbs. Each of the dog parks has benches, fire hydrants, water bowls for the dogs, and obstacles for the dogs. Around the park, there are dog bags to pick up your dog poop. Please keep an eye on your dog. Some dog owners bring their aggressive dogs. But, there are plenty of fun dogs for your dog to befriend.
Overall, this is a beautiful park and great place to bring your dog to play.

I love this park, and so do my kiddos and pups. We come here a lot, for family walks, quality playtime for kids and puppies. They have a great playground, creek, walking path, disk course and 2, yes TWO dog parks!
A year or two ago, they had some issues with fleas at the park, they promptly resolved this issue though.

We were so excited to have a nice dog park close to home, and while the park itself is very nice, we have been turned off by some of the people. Many do not clean up after their dog, and one lady became combative (cursing and acting very inappropriately for a family park) when her dog continued to cause problems and ultimately triggered a fight. We love the park itself, but have chosen not to take our dogs back due to the people.

Brought my dog around noon it wasn’t packed at all. Real big area but there was dog feces around people just don’t pick up after their pets. Besides that nice place to meet up

i love going there, but i think it needs more shaded areas with benches

This park is pretty nice and new. I love that there is a big play area as well as doggy fountains. I’m more disappointed in some of the crowd though. Many people are too lazy or not paying attention to when their pet makes a mess and they don’t clean it. There is also a couple of ignorant people who decide it’s cool to let their dogs run without a collar or harness. Obviously not okay if the dogs get mixed up into some rough play or heaven forbid a fight. Keep them in something you can restrain then with… PLEASE!

Awesome disk golf course. But the eight and nine hole water hazard should be cleaner. I had to get my disk out of poo water :-(

heres the scoop. its nice if you have pets and children as you can watch both from the dog park. I think people get a little complacent here because of the space allowing their dog to wander a little too far unsupervised. most of the dog owners do a good job of keeping the peace and making sure their dog is not snipping at others. one dog was being mean and should have been kept on lead both times i was there this is a owner flaw. i understand he needed socialization but keep the leash on!!! poop is everywhere as many arent watching their dogs when they poo. over all the people are very nice and do a good job maintaining. BRING YOUR OWN WATER THE WATER FOUNTAINS DONT DRAIN AND STINK TO HIGH HEAVEN.

Love this park! It has a great fenced area for dogs and a nicely paved running/​walking path which is about a mile long. I go here all the time. Probably one of the nicest parks in the area

Fenced-​in, very clean, and well maintained. There is a children’s play area, a «large dog» side, «small dog» side, and a concrete path around the park to walk. We arrived at 1pm on a Saturday. 90 degrees and breezy. We were the only two here in the whole park! There are dog-​sized water fountains, plenty of shade, seating for owners, and fire hydrants. Only thing that would make this place better would be water for the pups to play in during these hot summer days. We will definitely return!

I’ve visited several dog parks on a recent trip with my dog, and this one is pretty nice. It has the nicest seating areas of any park I’ve been to, with shade trees and lots of benches. It does have comparatively short fences and it lacks human water fountains inside the park (it has dog ones). No big problems should stop you from visiting, unless you have a dog who jumps fences! There are some very nice playgrounds nearby for kids too. I talked to a local who said that the park gets very busy on the weekends. We went on a Wednesday morning and the small dog area was empty, the big dog area had 6 or so dogs racing around in it. The sign says you can bring small dogs into the big dog area «at their own risk.» I kept my 18 lb dog in the small dog side though for safety reasons ;)

I really am so happy that we finally have a dog park in the area! There is a large and small dog area complete with dog water fountains and «fire hydrants». There are picnic tables and sitting benches in each area and some shade can be found.
The loop around the park is one mile and there is a large children’s play area located right next to the restrooms. A pavilion holds 3 – 4 picnic tables for family picnics; also next to the playground.
Around the park there are nine frisbee golf stations.
All-​in-​all, the park is pretty great. Because it is a new park, I would caution you to watch for snakes and other wildlife that are still in the area. I have seen a six-​inch rattle snake here just sitting on the sidewalk. Stick to the mowed areas and paths.
Get out and go see this wonderful new addition to or community!
