The Home Depot

This store is overpriced compared to others layout is odd and customer service was ok at best! Will travel to Vets and deal with crowd from now on.

Went to return stuff from a job site and everything checked back in just fine. Because the stuff was paid for with cash and I didn’t have a receipt Mike wouldn’t take the products back! Personally he wasn’t nice and profiled me as soon as he came up. He wasnt welcoming at all. Had a look on his face like he hated what he was doing and was quite rude! We do a lot of contract work and use home depot for the wiring and cord and pretty much anything we need that is provided for us on site. We will be looking into using someone else to get all of the extra things we need and no longer using your store because of this gentleman! Horrible experience…

My daughter and I went there yesterday afternoon, they were the most helpful people I have met in a hardware store in a long time. One little puzzled look on my face and somebody was there to ask what I needed and how could they help me. It was a wonderful experience.

Had a panel-​board that I wanted to buy but couldn’t fit in my car. I asked if they could cut it and they said that their panel-​saw was broken… So they can’t… I’m in a home-​improvement store and they can’t figure out a way to cut a piece of masonite…

I know nothing about gardening, and I had to go to the outdoor dept twice today to get more of the same things. When you do find someone to help you (there’s not many out there), I’d like to think that I’m getting the right information. Instead, I get 2 totally different answers to my questions, and I’m also told I need to buy a 40lb bag of potting soil (he said that’s the smallest)…but I found an entire wall of 8lb bags! It’s just frustrating.
Also, I had to make a return and the blonde/​light brown haired woman that was working the counter (it’s a Sunday) was either having a bad day, or she’s just a miserable person. If you are working in customer service, please try to be nice to customers.

I called this location to ask if they honored coupons used at competing retail stores such as Lowe’s and the man I spoke to informed me that Home Depot honors this. Even their website indicates this policy! Anyway, when I went there to purchase three ceiling fans and misc. items, the supervisor would not take the 10% off coupon from Lowe’s!!! She had such an ugly attitude when I asked her «why would someone tell me they honor coupons?!» The cashier was nice and apologetic but the supervisor was unapologetic. Staff needs to communicate the policy in a much clearer way.

If you know EXACTLY what you want and EXACTLY where it will be in the store… this is the store for you. If you need ANY help at all you’d might as well stay home because the number of informed employees here is very minimal…

First off, I placed an order for a dishwasher through an employee who was normally stationed in bath, Cathy. She apparently didn’t know what she was doing, because when I said «I need a haul away and an install because I have no idea how to do that.» what she heard was «haul away only.» So 2 weeks later, the day of the supposed installation, a guy shows up and sees my still-​hooked-​up dishwasher. He says «I don’t know how to unhook that… or install a new one…» so he just drops my new dishwasher into my kitchen and leaves.
I call the store and explain to them what happened. It took 2 days for someone to call me back and tell me that they will have someone come out and haul away the old one and install the new one. This is where Hackbarth (company that does installation jobs for Home Depot) comes in. The two guys had NO IDEA what they were doing. They told me there was something wrong with my counter and I needed to drill a new piece of wood in or glue it to my countertop because they couldn’t mount it. They told me there was NO WAY that Maytag dishwashers could be lowered in the back. I believed him. He was wearing a GE jumpsuit and told me that if I switched to a GE I would not have this problem. I told them to leave and called Home Depot back.
Home Depot then sent out two different installation guys who mounted it on the sides, but said they couldn’t on the top. They also left the dishwasher tilted forward, so that it wouldn’t be able to drain properly. So I called Home Depot AGAIN.
Home Depot then sent out the same two guys from Hackbarth that they did in the beginning. They said the same thing to me. No way to lower it in the back, you’ll have to buy wood or glue it instead of mounting it. I just told them to leave.
At this point, my dad gets involved and simply reads the instruction manual, which says IF IT NEEDS TO BE LOWERED THERE ARE BACK WHEELS. CHANGE THE POSITION OF THE WHEELS TO LOWER THE BACK.
I call Home Depot AGAIN and they send out two more guys. My dad shows them the instruction manual, the guys do what the manual says, and the dishwasher is VERY EASILY MOUNTED. All it took was taking 5 minutes to look at the damn instructions.
I’m very disappointed that Home Depot does business with a company like Hackbarth that employs people who are shady characters that obviously don’t know what they’re doing or talking about. I’m disappointed that it took over 4 whole days of me taking off work and waiting around for them to figure something out that took my dad 5 minutes to figure out, all because of this.
I also filled out a customer survey from my receipt on their website asking to be called by a manager about all this and was called by someone who rudely said «You know we’re taking care of this… RIGHT?» And tried to make me feel bad for leaving a bad review on their site.
The only saving grace is the first employee, Joel, I spoke with in Dishwashers who went on his break before I got to buy it from him, and one of the managers (not the one who called) named Russell, who was incredibly nice and wanted to get this problem solved for me.
tl;dr: Took them 4 tries to install a dishwasher after my dad looked at the instruction manual for 5 minutes and told them how to do their job.

I like this Home Depot location. It’s convenient, not too crowded and the employees are helpful.
It’s pretty easy to find your way around the store and the employees are always checking in to ask if you need anything, so I can’t think of a time, when I found myself wandering around flagging an employee don’t like a damsel in distress.
This Home Depot is a you get what you need. If you are a DIY type, this is a great one-​stop shop to get what you need and go. However, if you are looking for the thing to fix the bigger thing in the room in your house and you want it in a particular, size, color or shape… they do a great job of helping you out with assessing your needs, no matter how unhelpful you are in describing your situation and education on the best options to get you going.
Parking is good and this is the cheapest place to get a nice Christmas tree!

Most people know Home Depot as a do-​it-​yourself kind of store (and I’ve bought enough supplies for home projects from here over the years). It seems like when I visit these days, it is more often for basic yard maintenance supplies and greenery from the garden department. I don’t know how many bags of mulch and potting soil I’ve carted home over the years.
Their hanging baskets are often on sale and are usually cheap enough that I don’t mind buying a new one for the one I forgot to water for a couple of weeks. Actually I have enough empty baskets by the potting table that I sometimes just buy one of those 18 packs of annuals and make a couple of my own. Not that they necessarily survive any longer. Don’t expect a lot of one of a kind exotic yard plants. Go to Bantings or other local nursery for that. But if you like something that several of your neighbors have, it’s probably here and at a decent prices.
One change I’ve noticed over the years is that the Elmwood store’s garden center doesn’t have the big end of the year let’s get rid of everything before the Christmas Trees arrive sale. Sometimes you hate to see businesses get cost efficient. I got some great bargains in the past during what is the prime bush & tree planting season.

I can’t say I grew up at this Home Depot, because it’s not *that* old of a store. This location replaces the old Elmwood location toward Mounds, in the area where PetSmart is now.
I’ve been going to that one with my dad as long as I can remember. Since I became a home owner this has been my go to store for home improvement stuff.
This store is big and I’m not the most adept at home improvement so I have never really figured out a good way to plan my route or find anything. I do know the electrical section pretty well to the point of having occasional conversations with the regular staffer in the department.
In my experiences the staff has always been helpful and accurate in their knowledge including the ability to translate my half-​assed description of what I’m looking for when I don’t know what it’s called… when you can find the person assigned to the department. Sometimes I get the feeling if I just spent the time looking for what I needed instead of looking for a staffer I may find the part before an employee (except the gentleman in electrical when he’s working he’s always around every few minutes, and I’m feeling remiss for not remembering his name for this review.)
One big issue that does need to be addressed: The self service propane tank exchange. I recently went to exchange a tank and the system was having issues. A couple of tanks the system thinks were filled are empty, it opened a cage for my empty tank that had an empty tank, and it tried to give me a free tank of propane.
Not that free propane is a bad thing but something tells me I’d build up some bad karma for making the swap without also a transfer of money.
Luckily an employee about to head in from collecting buggies noticed the look of confusion on my face as I repeatedly pressed the touchscreen and got a cashier to help and get everything straightened out. (Which is the great equalizer of my above comments. They do come through when you’re in a pinch.)
The takeaway is until they fix the issues with the self-​exchange just skip it and go through the line. Unless the store is closed and you’re having a out of fuel grilling emergency then roll the dice. But be prepared to find alternative cooking methods.
And remember kids, hairspray and a match do not constitute an «alternative cooking method.»
There’s one more annoying thing but this is more a criticism of Elmwood than Home Depot. The access roads around that area are a mess. If it’s busy, and you need to get to Clearview, your best bet is to take the right onto Citrus and make your way back to Clearview using Elmwood Park and turning at the light by MMS. It’s almost always my last stop in the area for that reason.
This store is pretty much going to continue to be my central go to place when I need tools and miscellaneous stuff.

I came in here to get 2 sample-​size containers of pink paint for the munchkin’s bedroom. Apparently, they have a whole section of Disney-​themed color swatches. I’m still debating between Blushing Piglet and Tink Pink, but that will soon be resolved.
Anywho, the nice young lady at the paint counter mixed up my samples, and I picked out the other necessities — kit with rollers, brush, etc., painters tape, and drop cloth. I think I was in and out in about 15 minutes, thanks to the awesome self-​checkouts. I’m not a fan of hardware stores, probably because that was my first part-​time job ever, so the less time I have to spend in one, the better. The quickness of the trip earned them 3 stars. The friendliness of the paint counter lady earned them the 4^th.
This store is on my way home from work. I’ll either come back here, or go to the one near my house in Marrero to get the rest of the paint. It just depends on which one is more convenient. To be honest, I don’t find a whole lot of difference between Home Depot locations. probably because it’s a huge box store and they are all supposed to be similar.
Of course, I still need to decide between Blushing Piglet and Tink Pink. Decisions, decisions.

This is my home base Home Depot; it’s the one I grew up near so I still now the layout of the store the best. The garden section is good and I’ve had amazingly helpful store associates on occasion.
Seriously, I once had a guy cut a complicated piece of glass 5 times to get it right… which was above and beyond as I needed a weird geometric shape for my transom.
I do have to admit that I miss them being open 24 hour like they were pre-​K. When we bought our 1^st house, we used to go out to dinner on Friday night, make a weekend plan, then hit the HD late to be all prepped for Saturday morning.

Best Home Depot I’ve seen in Nola. Has really good garden section. The rest of the store is also very clean and well stocked. Lots of helpful employees.
