Fine handmade jewelry in gold, platinum, palladium and silver. Our jewelry is made by the designers themselves. We are the only custom jewelry studio in Hanover and have two full-​time goldsmiths on staff. We do all your repairs in house.

The Gallery at Designer Gold showcases 12 small-​studio artists working in silver, all golds, palladium and platinum.

History

Established in 1977.

Paul Gross founded this business in Hanover to sell fine handmade jewelry to galleries. By 1984, enough people had found their way up to his second floor studio to ask him to make special pieces for them that he stopped going to craft fairs. Since then, he has made his living creating custom pieces for individuals. In 1990, he moved his business to the second floor of the Hanover Park building and added The Gallery at Designer Gold to showcase the work of other exceptional jewelry artists.

Business Owner

Born in Ohio, raised in Vermont, Paul graduated from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, in 1973. He learned all the skills needed to open a studio to make fine art jewelry at the Claflin Jewelry Studio at Dartmouth. In 1975 – 76 he worked for The Goldsmith, an upscale handmade jewelry store in Chicago, increasing his efficiency in making custom jewelry. In 1976 – 77, he taught full-​time in the Claflin Jewelry Studio at Dartmouth, and in October, 1977, he founded what would become Designer Gold. In 1990, he moved his business to 3 Lebanon Street in Hanover, and added The Gallery at Designer Gold — a gallery showcasing fine handmade jewelry by studio artists.
