Really… It’s 11:30am. I can’t order pancakes, or French toast because they are now using the grill for burgers. So I asked for a Belgian waffle. Nope. Apparently they won’t serve everything with syrup after 11am. Hey Eating Establishment… It’s still breakfast time and last time I checked you use a waffle maker and not the grill to make a waffle. Never coming back here again. They really shouldn’t have coffee mugs that day«best breakfast in town» if you can’t even order it before noon. Another note… Don’t you use the grill to do eggs and omelettes? How you working that out???

Very long, crowded and confusing wait… «Who’s next, you, me, the other line of people across the room? No idea.» When we finally sat 25 min later, elbow to elbow with what seemed like a couple of patriots linebackers, the waitress was dismissive and had a rude way of movement and rude tone in her voice. The orange juice was not fresh, but frozen concentrate. The ginger ale tasted like mold. We then waited an additional 15 minutes for food. The French toast was bland. The rye toast was burnt. The home fries were very over cooked and mush. However, the bacon was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The hash was ok. The eggs were fine. The bill was very expensive for a tiny run down breakfast joint. All & all I give this place a 2 star rating.

Phenomenal food and service! Fast service too. Can be very busy on the weekends because it’s so good!

This place is a classic! It’s got the old rustic, new england feel the moment you step in. The food is great! We had the hot chocolate, which was nice. The waffle, eggs, sausage was all made fresh and served hot. The service was great, polite. I’ve paid 3x the price to get just ordinary breakfast, this place though is well worth the money and well worth the drive from Boston for us. Will be back!

Everything is excellent, big portions and if you ask for specifics they accommodate. Very reasonable pricing, but gets very busy on weekends. Local favorite!

We tried this place for a hearty late breakfast based on our local friends recommendations. It did not disappoint. Delicious down to earth breakfast classics with large portions were delivered promptly by a friendly wait staff in a charming general store setting. Only negative is it’s cash only. There is a small sign not prominently displayed advising of this. Luckily my friend was able to spot me.

This was the best breakfast food I’ve ever eaten. I had hash and an omelet with homefries. My boyfriend and I went at the crack of dawn, 6:30 am, there seemed to be plenty of locals. I loved the diner feel of the restaurant and the food, but I rated it four stars due to a rude waitress. She was laughing because I ordered a large portion, leftovers, and Im rather small. She was making comments about it when I asked for a take out box but overall it was lovely.

Inexpensive breakfast, great blueberry pancakes, eggs and sausages. $ 10 plus tip for 2 peeps, no coffee but left filled! One of the curmudgeon waitresses needs an attitude adjustment.

This place deserves all five stars. Great, homey little hole in the wall on the South Shore. Absolutely delicious breakfast, served right off the stoves, by the friendliest staff, all for the lowest priced breakfast food I’ve ever ordered. Seriously, nothing is better than the sunrise special, $ 6 or 7 for eggs however you want, home fries, toast, and bacon. What more do you want? Unlimited coffee in these huge mugs is also a plus. You just can’t go wrong here, I’ve been there countless times. Cash only but you don’t need much.

Pretty nice place to eat if you’re in to old school eating and good breakfast food. Very busy so be prepared to wait for your seat. It is worth it. Portions are nice, kid friendly, and pretty relaxed environment. Cash only is the only negative and sometimes the waitresses can be a bit forgetful. This is understanding though because they are very busy.

We’ve lived in Hanover for 30 years and have always enjoyed breakfast here. Don’t care if the hash isn’t homemade… the rest of the menu is just what a breakfast place should be. Friendly service, food cooked just as you ordered it, and prices that don’t break the bank. Husband and I had breakfast this past Saturday — his was 3 poached eggs, home fries, rye toast, and crispy bacon; mine was two eggs sunny, the rest same as his, and we both had refillable coffee. Total with tax…$ 14 and change. Compared to the lousy breakfast we had at Victorias diner in Boston last week(see review) for twice the price, this put that place to shame. We sat at the counter as the line for tables was out the door and endless. But everyone waited, such was the appeal of this place. Homey, friendly, and great value.

Great food and really good prices! We eat there almost every Sunday morning. It is worth the wait if there is a line.

Great breakfast joint. I especially love the oatmeal — none of that instant stuff — served with a side of raisins and brown sugar. The cozy rustic barn board, counter stools, friendly staff… perfect way to start a weekend morning. Good prices for no-frills hearty breakfast. Bring cash.

Have lived on the south shore most of my life and have driven by this place for years. I finally decided to give it a try and am glad I did. My daughter had bacon, eggs, homefries and toast, and I the same but with a couple of nicely grilled and butterflied Italian sweet sausages, and both were very happy with our meals. The waitresses were nice, the prices reasonable, and if you like a little old school rusticity — and I do – you will probably enjoy the experience. Oh, forgot to mention, it’s ‘cash only,’ but there’s an ATM right there inside the General store…

I have been going to this place since I was a little girl! Absolutely love it! You can’t beat the prices and the food is excellent. You must try the homefries. The waitresses are all nice and most of them have been working there for as long as I can remember. It’s definately a «townie» place. I would have given it 5 stars except it’s small so not a lot of seats. It is usually packed with people standing at both entrances eyeing the people sitting down and waiting for them to get up. Also, they only take cash but theres an ATM on the premises! A must try!
