At Michael Mootz Candies, we have been providing quality chocolates and candy to Northeastern Pennsylvania for over 37 years using recipes that have been in the Mootz family for over 90 years. In our store you’ll find the area’s best chocolate and everything you need for any holiday or special occasion (wedding favors, showers, birthdays, graduation, candy buffet tables, etc.)! We also operate a creamery in the summer where you can mix our chocolates into delicious ice cream or yogurt. You can visit our store or order online. We ship our candy anywhere!

History

Established in 1975.

Michael Mootz Candies was established in 1975 by Michael Mootz. Mike is the son of a second generation confectioner Jim Mootz, who’s mother started the original Mootz Candies in Pottsville, PA in the 1920’s. After graduating from The University of Scranton in 1972, and a few years in sales, Michael decided that he would start his own company using those same old fashioned recipes his grandmother had used.

He started by selling fudge at local fairs and farmers markets before settling in to a store on the Sans Souci Parkway in Wilkes-​Barre, PA. Today, Michael Mootz Candies has created custom logos and gift boxes for over 70 corporate customers, supplies over 12 grocery stores with seasonal chocolates, and is the area’s best place for holiday gifts and for satisfying that sweet tooth. The company has recently expanded into the ice cream business and offers the best chocolate /​ice cream combinations around!

Michael is the owner of Michael Mootz Candies. It is a family business that he runs along with his wife, Debi and their youngest son, Jason. Their older son, Michael, lives in Vail, CO and has aspirations of starting his own candy business out west.
