History

Established in 2008.

The Itchy Pooch was founded in 2008 to provide pet owners with a professional-​quality, low-​cost alternative to the substandard pet grooming services in the area. As loving and enthusiastic pet owners themselves, The Itchy Pooch founders were constantly disappointed and unsatisfied with their local stationary and mobile grooming experiences. They were fed up with being charged high prices for inexperienced groomers giving amateur cuts, while having their furry family members treated without care or respect.

The Itchy Pooch was created to give pet owners and their pets a new grooming experience — an experience based on three basic but extremely important principles: dependable groomers, personalized service, and affordable prices. Their absolute dedication to these three principles is what The Itchy Pooch founders knew would set their organization apart from the rest of the «pack».

The Itchy Pooch originated in Ventura County CA but relocated to Hanford CA in the Fall of 2012.

Meet the Business Owner

Shamra D.

Business Owner

Shamra is Owner and Chief Grooming Officer of The Itchy Pooch. Originally from Hanford CA, she has over eight years of grooming experience and is a former grooming salon manager at a well-​known, national pet services chain. As the grooming salon manager, she led her team to become the highest earning salon in the district, and trained all of the chain’s incoming groomers in the area.

As owner/​operator of The Itchy Pooch, Shamra loves getting to meet new pets and their owners every day, and works hard to develop close and comfortable relationships with each client. The days may sometimes be long and the work may sometimes be difficult, but Shamra truly enjoys being able to have a business where she can practice her passion for animals on a daily basis.

Shamra and her husband Dave own two dogs (Scout, a Shepherd mix, and Jack, a Westie) and a cat (Dakota).
