Specialties
This is an Ecotourism site that has a large 10 acre botanical garden and is open to the public. Also, there are two studios for a farm stay that have solar electric with full gas appliance kitchens. The real Hawaii not a resort.
History
Established in 1976.
Johnny and I bought 27 ½ acres in Hana Maui without water or electric. We were in 2 large tents with 6 of 8 children who were not happy to be moved from a nice home on the waterfront in Oahu. What seems funny now was not funny then. Since Johnny had a heavy equipment business we cleared and planted fruit and flowers. I had a small cut flower business and opened the botanical gardens. Since Johnny worked elsewhere, I turned his horse stable into two rental studios. He said his horses would love it. Since Johnny passed away in 2001 and I am not younger, it has been harder to do it all. But I love it here and I enjoy visiting with the people that come to the Gardens. It is a special place in the real Hawaii.
Meet the Business Owner
JoLoyce K.
Business Owner
I have volunteered in conservation for 30 years. I am Chair of the Hana Soil and Water Conservation District and V. P for Maui Island Districts. I sit on the board of Resource Conservation and Development. I am as organic as possible but we have serious invasive weeds that cannot be controled. The rainforest is different from the dry areas but we all deal with tropical critters. I do my best to deal with it organically. It is not easy.
