Courage Coffee is on the verge of closing as Courage Church has put the building up for sale. So stop in soon before the v60 experience all but disappears from Hamtramck.

Fantastic coffee, excellent customer service, & free wifi, this place is awesome! If you need a place to study, to hang out, or have a group meeting this is the place to do it!

Delicious pour over brews, using great beans. I’m here twice a week. Even if the «vibe» isn’t your thing I sense no judgement or preachiness.

I came in here canvassing for a community event, and met the two servers, interns for the youth ministry at real church. They were helpful and interested in what we had to say– hopefully some of them will volunteer with us!
I mentioned that I had heard they had the best cup of coffee in town and was challenged to try some by the server. He made me a pourover cup in a process that took about five minutes. My friend was annoyed by the long process and a couple minor spills but i was intrigued and glad that they take the time to make coffee right.
I walked away with a great coffee and a good experience from friendly people.
They also do drip coffee or french press– however you prefer your coffee made, they will do. The space is a bit dark, bare-​bones and strange but fits the coffeeshop vibe very well. Free wi-​fi, great coffee.

Seriously, best pourover in Michigan so far. No espresso service, which I still think Astro Coffee has the best espresso, but the coffee is by far the best.

I love this place! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks are excellent and the poppy seed bread is amazing. I love coming here and will definitely keep coming back.

If you’ve never had a pour-​over coffee, you don’t know what you’re missing. Strong coffee, sweet cake, and great service!

The best coffee in Hamtramck! If you are an Astro fan like myself, this is a good place to go when your north of downtown. Have your coffee in a variety of ways from their house drip to french press or hand-​poured. Plus, the folks behind the counter seem to be both spiritually and socially conscious, a good blend like their coffee.

Tried Courage Coffee out this past week, and found their coffee supremely delightful. Upon entering, I noticed their set-​up is a little bare bones. A pour-​over station, some coffee brewers/​hot water dispensers, poppyseed cake, and bottles of tap water… that’s about it. And yet, they do their few things with real aplomb and skill. Some of the best coffee I’ve had in a while — definitely competes with the two or three high-​end coffee places that opened in the last year or two between detroit and the burbs. But their prices are much more reasonable here.
Staff was great, bubbly, informative. Were sharing some chocolate samples, and explaining some of their products. The space is best suited for pairs or small groups who want to come in to chat. It’s a big, open space — very echo’y, and kinda dark (though they do make the best use possible of the one window on the front door). They have super tall walls, that are blandly painted white at the moment, but would make a REALLY great backdrop to hang some local art up — this place has community art gallery potential for sure, if they wanted to. No parking lot but plenty of street parking out front.
In his online presence ( Unilocal’s About the Business note, the company website), the owner makes no bones about serving the big man upstairs — which initially made me very hesitant to try this place out (i’ve been the wet rag of many a man’s proselytizing enough to know i have short tolerance for it, and feared this was a diabolically elaborate ploy to drum up new choir members), but, my curiosity having won, I found my anxieties completely unwarranted. Every verbal exchange I had with the staff was about coffee. Though they *did* have what looked like a long cushioned pew among various seating arrangements, which i thought actually displayed a bit of style and a touch of good humor maybe — or at least i thought so :)
I went, i drank some exquisite coffee for an hour while reading some online news (free wifi), and then left, looking fwd to the next cup here.

Great atmosphere and so inviting with fantastic coffee! A good place to meet friends, study, have conversations, etc. Plus it’s kid friendly! Detroit needs more spots like this. The staff pay attention to detail, Have excellent quality beans. And their brewing methods are right on.

Awesome approach to coffee and I love the cause behind it. Skilled baristas and top-​notch, direct-​trade beans. My pour-​over was delicious down to the last drop!
