GREATFOOD! I decided to check Aladdin’s out yesterday to grab dinner and the staff was very helpful in helping me decide which chicken dish to try and my butter chicken was delicious! Will definitely be going back to Aladdin’s to try their other dishes!

Best india/Pakistani food I’ve had in the metro Detroit area. I crave the naan, chicken masala, and butter chicken everyday of my life, the spices blended with that buttery sweetness is blended perfectly at Aladdin’s. I’m impressed. The buffet is great too at lunch. I am going to try my hardest to show this place to as many people as I can. So goood.

This is a great Spot to try! The prices are low and the food is amazing and fresh! I get the butter chicken with rice and naan. Very tender chicken and warm, fluffy & delicious naan! Their chicken samosas are the best!

Food was good, but not amazing. My stomach is actually bothering me the morning after, and I’ve been to three other Indian restaurants(two in Troy, one in Eastpointe) within the last month that tasted better and left me feeling better as well. The non(sp?) didn’t have a lot of flavor, and my chicken tikka masala was more red vs the more orange variety that I’m used to having at both of the Troy Indian restaurants I enjoy – both of which, I think, have had better food and service. The rice was good at Aladdin’s though. Also: our server was pretty difficult to understand(very thick accent), and I normally never have a difficult time understanding anyone’s English through an accent. But one thing I did understand: as my friend pulled out his wallet to pay for his bill, the server clearly stated, «I prefer cash,» in reference to his expectation of being tipped. We all did tip the guy, of course, but I thought that was pretty tacky. Felt like he paid as much attention to his cash preference as he did our service. I do have a friend or two who both love this place, but my experience has been better at other establishments. Better luck next time. Aladdin’s left me wishing I was at Ashoka or the other place in Troy on Rochester Rd. Update: found out two of the friends who are at Aladdin’s with me also weren’t feeling good that night and the next day. It’s not food poisoning, but gosh… that just shouldn’t be happening. Not sure why we all didn’t feel well, as again, I’ve had Indian food several other times recently at other places and have never had an issue.

I really wanted to like this place because I haven’t found a good Indian/Pakistani restaurant in southeast Michigan that is halal. But the food was very meh. The best part of the meal was the samosas, which were quite good even though the chutney was old and crusty. Also had the chicken tikka masala and chicken vindaloo, which were both more bland than I previously thought possible. And both dishes came out less than room temperature. The search continues…

I had the chicken kashmiri and it was not good. It was a basic chicken curry when it should have had nuts and fruit and a thicker curry. The price of the food reflects the quality. My friend had the shahi paneer. Also too watery when it should have been made in cream. low quality food. Was disappointed and won’t come here again.

Aladdin Sweets & Café. This is the go to place when you’re feeling like some South Asian cuisine. Food is prepared quickly, but not so fast that you feel like it was precooked. Amazing prices and always available seating. This place has 2 seating areas. If you sit at the cashier area, you get all the yelling, laughing and associated commotion you would expect at an authentic South Asian eatery. Not to mention paper plates and plastic sporks! But, if you’re feeling like a quieter setting, there is ample seating in a more spiffy seating area in the back, complete with cutlery and good china. If it’s your first time going there, I’d recommend the butter chicken at a spice level to your liking. Remember butter chicken is better chicken.

I am addicted to this place. It’s a great late night option. The prices are cheap as hell, the portions are good, the food is great. What more could you ask for? I live about 8 minutes away so I always call my food in and pick it up and they are always pleasant. I love their meat samosas, chicken tikka Masala, and the aladdins platter. Nothing fancy, just good food at a great price in a family owned joint.

We tried shrimp malai curry, and the taste was unbeatable. They use coconut milk which gives the malai flavor. Not spicy. The quantity was not good for sharing among 2 people though

Biryani was excellent in taste though chicken was a little bit over cooked. After a long time away from my home country, I enjoyed the samosas most with the special chutney they gave. Definitely a place where you can spend wisely for your tummy.

What a great find! I loved my dinner experience here! My boyfriend and I started with Singara, a vegetable stuffed pastry. It was delicious and served with a great cucumber sauce. We were disappointed when they were out of Halim, another appetizer we wanted to try. Both of our main dishes were severed with Naan or lentils. We both chose Naan and it was some of the best Naan I’ve had in Detroit! The mixed vegetable curry was a great mix of spicy with a nice array of vegetables. The Matar Paneer was creamy and spicy! We also shared an Aladdin salad, which was a nice refreshing part of dinner. And the best part… All this under $ 20! We decided 4 over 5 stars because their staff were pretty unorganized, but we will definitely be back!

Awesome place for some real Bangladeshi(yes, and Indian) food. Love that you can order off the menu if you happen to be familiar with Bangladeshi food. The prices are quite reasonable considering the authenticity and the portion size.

Great food which makes up somewhat for what the place lacks in atmosphere or alcohol for that matter…

Went here today because I had a craving for butter chicken. Like other reviews said, the old side is pretty dingy and it took awhile to get my food. Got back to my office and the naan was pretty fresh, but there was hardly any chicken and a ton of sauce. I also discovered numerous bones! The second time I choked was the end of it for me. Still looking for good butter chicken, but won’t be back here!

amazing lentils. just creamy and tasty and flavorful. the garlic naan is also full of butter and herbs and huge pieces of fresh chunky garlic. this place was definitely a great find on the south side of hamtramck. been there 3 times now and the food is always good. the lamb biryani is amazing. the samosas are great, in fact i like the veggie one much better and i am not a veggie person. it’s actually quite large inside and it has never been that busy. i think most of the business is carryout. the waitstaff and counter help and seriously the nicest guys ever. they have given many suggestions and options for an adventurous eater. i have wanted to try some of their desserts but am always too full. ps, it is super cheap. like 5.99 for veggie dinner cheap. 7.99 for meat dinner. love, juston

Small but tasty samosas. Nice choices. Some of the best basmati rice Ive had in Metro D. Solid all around. They have vegetable and meat samosas. I forgot to snap a pic of the samosas display.

Good ol’ Aladdin. I’ve been coming here since they opened(probably going on 10 years now?) and have remained a fan even as they’ve changed a bit over time. Though you can no longer get a complete meal for just under $ 3, the prices still seem pretty reasonable. They’ve recently expanded and are using the old Gandhi/Tripti model where you pay slightly more to eat on china plates in a fancier room. There is also an outdoor patio which looks quite nice. I’ve tried most of the vegetarian offerings, and all are great. I ate my first meat dish there recently, and as someone who is a bit skeeved out by cartilage and squishy bits, I think I’ll go back to the old veggie standards from now on. The breads here are also so delicious. Get aloo paratha to share if you’re extra hungry. Or perhaps a singara to eat while your meal is being prepared. They’re only $ 1. I haven’t eaten too many of the sweet offerings here, but what I’ve tried has been really delicious, but almost too rich for me. I did buy some betel nut to chew once, and that was the only time I’ve gotten a funny look here. Service has always been pleasant, even on the handful of times in the past where there was a bit of a language barrier. Aladdin is perfect for hearty, flavorful food on the cheap, and now that the«fancy side» is open, I feel like I could bring my parents or other very discerning folks here for a meal that they’d really enjoy.
