I am absolutely appalled at the condition of this hotel. We got a «wedding discount» so «only» paid $ 157 per night for a Friday and a Saturday… in new hampshire… upon walking up to our room, we noticed a god awful smell(like someone had gas for a week straight with no air filtration and tried to cover it up with air freshners). Then we got into the room and got the refreshing smell of must. There is a kitchen table, bedroom, small bathroom and living room. Sounds nice right? Aside from the yellowing walls, 80s style air conditioner in the living room(and nothing in the bedroom aside from a window that opens on one side…), stained light switches, extremely hard bed and feeling of overall grime… I guess it wasn’t that bad. Needless to say, we had no choice to stay here as all other places are booked and we are from out of state. The price you pay for this hotel is just absurd considering what you are getting. If we had paid 45 a night it would still be considered too much …

We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and decided to go to the Sands Hotel & Resort in Hampton Beach to celebrate. We saw the hotel in our RCI catalog and it looked good. When we arrived the manager told us that our room was one of the«better» rooms. We were very disappointed in the«3 rooms.» There was really only two small rooms and the rooms and hotel were old and worn out. The sofa and the furniture were dusty. The pillows were stained and smelled. The curtains were stained and the living room blinds were broken. There were only 3 plates, a couple of glasses and no coffee maker or mugs. There were no hangers in the closet, and no hair dryer in the bathroom. There was no phone in the room to call the front desk. There was a device on the wall, so we asked what it was and showed her a photo to the front desk clerk who had no idea what it was. It may have been an intercom, but it was not operational. No phone in the room was a safety concern for us. There was no clock radio in the bedroom. When we talked to the manager about all the missing items, he told us that they did not have things in the room because people steal them. This was not what we wanted to hear. We did get some of the items from the manager and the manager did replace the broken blinds. The only saving grace was that the beach and the restaurants were excellent. I would not return to this hotel again. This hotel should not be in the RCI catalog, as it was not RCI’s usual high quality. This hotel was the only down side to our vacation.

Watch out for the ants and Rick Bundy’s security force. The walls have blood stains. The Sauna has been broken for years and not equipped with enough solution. The weight room dates back to 1985 and the hallways wreak of burnt steak and stale fish. The only pro to this«resort» is the luxurious views of the memorial day firework display and power plant. I will never have the pleasure of staying here again and taking my business over to the Ashworth.

Being generous with 2 stars. Run down, old, and poorly maintained. However it is very conveniently located for some downtown events and is very close to the ‘casino’ if you want to attend a live show there. Fridge, microwave, sink in the kitchenette. Separate bedroom is a plus. The price, while lower than other places in the area, is still high given the condition of the place. Wifi is free but sucks. No coffee in room or elsewhere — no mugs in the kitchen area either. Soap provided in bathroom but no shampoo or other amenities. If you are not fussy about cleanliness and functionality then this place is an OK option but be aware of the limitations.

Like others have said — you do somewhat get what you pay for with this place. However I really don’t think I will be staying here again. We stayed here for a concert Friday night through Sunday. We met a few other couples at the hotel. With a total of 7 people and 3 rooms we had plenty of rooms for the number of people we had. One person had a whole room to herself another couple had their own room and the other couple shared a room with myself and my husband. The day of the concert we went down to the beach, all came back to our separate rooms to shower and get ready for dinner afterwards. We met up and walked out of the hotel through the lobby to go to dinner. THIS is the part that really really upset me… There was a woman at the front desk who looked at us like we were children and she said to us «you all just came out of room 319?» I said no we have 3 rooms and 319 isn’t one of them. She questions me if I’m telling the truth or not and does not seem to believe me. She starts to go on about how there are no more than 4 people allowed in a room. I told her, Ok that’s not a problem at all we don’t have more than 4 people in a room. She asked if we were going to the concert, we said yes, she said OK well just so you know when you come back you can’t have more than 4 people in a room… We really had no idea where she was going with this… She went on to say how she was the«nice» security guard and we could be kicked out if they found out we had more than 5 people per room. I could not believe we were even having this conversation. I understand hotels may have problems with dealing with rowdy teens and college kids, but do not treat me like that. The unmaintained rooms and plastic shower curtains, and lack of basic amenities aside we will not be staying here mainly because of the way they treat their guests. The Pros: — 1 block from the beach — a fold out couch in a separate room from the bed so if you are staying with another couple you can essentially have two separate rooms/sleeping areas. — having the fridge and microwave is nice. — There is a living room space and a kitchen table which came in handy during the rainy weather the first night. we were able to play a card game and watch the hockey game. This was a nice part of the room, I could see if I had children this would be a nice feature. — full basic cable — free wi fi If you don’t mind the sketchiness of the staff … I guess this might be an ok place to say. But I was beyond insulted with the way they treated us.

Not a bad place for what you pay for. I have stayed here three time. If you’re looking for a place to just crash and sleep. This is your place. It’s only 1 block from the beach.

I used to love this place but it has gone way downhill in the last two years. I’m not sure if it changed hands but there are all new people working there and they are the most miserable people I’ve ever encountered at a hotel. Checkout time isn’t until 2:00pm and they wouldn’t let us check in 15 minutes early and we had to sit out in the car in the pouring rain. Non smoking rooms also smell like a fireplace. We won’t be back again!
