Ocean Passion

I decided to go for lunch today and I must say this is the worst southern food restaurant I’ve been to. The food was not even mediocre. Sad. I got smothered pork chops, yams and cabbage. The yams were bland, just as if they were poured out of the can, nothing to spice it up. The cabbage was black peppered down and the pork chops were bland as well. Not to mention there were no paper towels in the restrooms.
As far as the service, it could be a lot better. The atmosphere was not at all great, it was hot and I believe wasn’t ready to serve the community. It looks as if they’re still moving in. I don’t foresee this establishment being opened for very long. If I could give it no stars, I would have, but Unilocal makes you give it at least one.

Ordered my food for delivery at 645pm. Was told it would be a 35 – 45 min wait. Thats perfectly fine! 9pm came however and no food had arrived. Called the establishment, and was told that they tried to call me. Now what delivery person doesnt knock on the door? And my phone never rung! Tried to support local business but service was beyond horrible!

So while on lunch break from my part time job, I decided to give Oceans Passion (which is right around the corner) a try. Let me start by saying this is home cooking, from scratch and makes you feel like your grandmother is on steroids when you eat it. Keep in mind, this food is cooked to order therefore taking a little longer than normal, so I recommend calling in ahead of time. If you plan on eating in, stand by before receiving your meal because this people are cooking it in the true form of homestyle. So bring the family, order some tea and enjoy each others company.
I had the fried chicken dinner and 2 sides of mac and cheese and collard greens. WOW! The chicken was tender, juicy, seasoned to perfection and pipping hot! The sides were homemade in every sense of the word. The greens taste as if they were picked, cleaned and cooked fresh this morning, and the mac and cheese was so cheesy!
This is a local own business with an owner who has a heart of gold. The restaurant itself is cozy and clean. Very nice place to bring a date, the family or a group (as long as you call ahead) to enjoy some home dinning.
I can’t express calling ahead if you want a to-​go order. They do deliver but plan accordingly.
