There are a few things I look for in a great sub. First is the freshness of the ingredients, more specifically but most important — the lettuce. In this case, ALL of the ingredients were fresh and he even toasted the sub for me as well… I will definitely be going back. The interior is well kept and it looks clean — all around a solid place to eat. The chicken fingers are amazing as well. –Terry

I am a pizza lover to the max. The seacoast is highly void of any great pizza joints, so when a friend suggested Lena’s…I wasn’t expecting much. However, I was pleasantly surprised! I’ve driven by the place hundreds of times, it’s right on Route 1 but it’s easy to miss with the newer plaza across the street. I wouldn’t have thought to try them out based on their looks, I’m not sure what it is exactly, but it doesn’t have an appetizing curb appeal. Anyway, fast-forward to giving them a try… the pizza was delicious! It’s thin style pizza, but the crust is huge, crispy, and delicious. The pizza is square style, which is great, but we’ve learned to ask for the pizza slightly over cooked, which makes the inside pieces more crispy and easier to eat. I’m a plain eater, so cheese satisfies my pizza cravings. My husband and friends are more adventurous and have tried many styles. You can build your own or choose one of their creations. With the other local artisanal pizza places charging upwards of $ 20 a pie, you’re better off going to Lena’s!

Very good pizza with a sweet sauce. The dough is a cross between house of pizza and sheet pizza with the bottom being very crispy and the crust is chewy. The place is clean and I find the service to always be friendly. They need to get a menu online.

Worst pizza ever! Crust was burned… really burned and the center was raw! Thought we would give this place a try… never again!

We had stopped going to Lenas about 2 years ago because of poor service & poor quality food. My wife and I were driving by today, and being hungry we decided to stop in. So glad we did, the place was so much cleaner and the food & service was fantastic. We were impressed then we found out why, new owners. Talking to these new owners we were told that new dinners etc are in the works. We will definatly return, again and again. If you stopped going to Lenas in the past, try it again, you wont be dissapointed

Disappointing. We have eaten at Lena’s many, many times over the years. We always felt wonderful supporting a small business that strived to provide great quality food and terrific customer service. Today we ordered one of our favorites(crabmeat salad) and knew right away that something had changed. The crabmeat salad had no crab flavor and tasted heavily of mayonnaise. On just a feeling, since we didn’t recognize any of the people working there, I asked if there had been a change in owners and was told that there were indeed new owners. Lena’s had always been a favorite. We are so disappointed. I hope the new owners just need time to get it together and once they do that things improve.

I’ve been a pretty regular customer at Lena’s for a couple of years now. Love their pizza and subs are usually good. Ordered take out consisting of antipasto salad, chicken parm calzone and fish and chips with a side of slaw for my wife. Order was just coming up when I arrived so I headed home with hot fresh food. Terribly disappointed when we opened everything up. Salad had rotten tomatoes, no marinara sauce for the calzone and no side of slaw which I paid extra for. Made a call and was told to come back for the slaw, new tomatoes and sauce. Why should I have to drive back??? Lena’s should have made sure the order was correct and of good quality before sending it out. There are too many choices in Hampton for locals to go to for take out. I’m sure I’ll be back but shame on me if I’m disappointed again.

Lena’s has been an institution in Hampton for as long as I can remember, and you’ve got to hand it to them, that’s no easy feat! Excellent food and service, and the portions are unreal. I always order the cheesesteak sub, which is always steaming hot, the bread is always fresh, and the steak is shaved thin, just the way it should be. Lena’s is a must-see if you’re in the mood for a quick, traditional american lunch.

Got a 20 piece wing for me and a friend, ordered them well done/extra crispy. Picked them up and when I got home wings were fatty and soggy as well as still a little pink inside. I’ve been cooking for years and this makes me sad. Don’t recommend because it wasn’t my first bad experience.

I was mad that my husband picked here for lunch cause it looked like just another run-of-the mill sub shop. It took me a while to pick what I wanted. I got the diablo wrap and i was so happy I did. It was a specialty wrap that was buffalo chicken, hot sauce, ranch, lettuce. SSoooo good. We also go waffle fries which were yummy. My husband got a steak tip sub– it was real steak and good, but really dinky. like not hardly any meat. The bathroom and the table we chose were actually pretty dirty. so minus a star for that. I would come here again just for the diablo wrap. it was devilishly delicious. and wicked hot too(not for me– but it burnt my husbands nose from across the table.)

I just ordered a veggie pizza from Lena’s today and it was overcooked and way too thin. Normally I get subs there and ordered a pizza once and they were good. Not sure who was cooking today, but giving a customer soggy, burnt pizza is not good for business!

Alright, well last night I ordered some food that was a bit subpar. Tonight I called and spoke to the owner… He was super friendly and apologized up and down. After I placed my order he refused to let me pay for it. He was so kind about the whole situation and sent me great food that totally made up for the night previous! Highly rated by me! The owner really made me happy with his business ethics! The food was great!!!

One of my favorite neighborhood places. Great friendly owner and staff, and sandwiches always dependably good and fresh. Great crabmeat and tuna rollup.

Been to Lena’s once or twice a year for over 25 years. I keep thinking it might be worth it but it never is.

This place is pretty good! It used to be a bit cheaper, but the food is still tasty as always. It’s clean, inviting, and in a convenient location for beach-goers. I do think it’s silly that they are closed on Sundays, especially in the summer! What a missed opportunity for more business! They might consider closing on Mondays instead.

I have been to Lena’s many times since moving to Hampton 8 years ago, but never tried the House Beef sub before. I was really missing out! I got the medium and it was a generous portion of warm juicy mid rare beef, with melted cheese, BBQ sauce and mayo. Perfectly cooked and a great combination. My new favorite. You HAVE to try it!

Average sub-shop. Nothing special. I did notice that the french fries were way too expensive though. The footlong sub is enormous and can be shared by two people.

Well, I’ve eaten A LOT of pizza in a lot of places, in a lot of countries, and although Lena’s might not be the best in the world, it’s certainly one of the very best in NH and certainly my favorite on the Seacoast. Nice crust, not too much, not too dense. Their sauce is good, and they put just enough toppings. I tried the Margherita, nice big pieces of basil, lots of flavor, and not greasy at all. If you’re in the Seacoast, and you’re in the mood for pizza, definitely try Lena’s. They also have a large selection of salads and sandwiches that I’ll look forward to trying!

Having grown up in Hampton but long since moved out of town there are a few spots that I have to hit whenever I visit home… Lena’s is one of them. I can’t give a very long review because I get the same thing every time I go there… the steak tip sub here is the best steak tip sub anywhere… The steak is always cooked to perfection with the right amount of spices that mix perfect with the cold lettuce, tomato, and onion on the fresh sub roll. Heaven.

After a day of work in the area, I stopped by Lena’s to order a pizza recently. This family owned pizza and sub shop also serves up salads, fresh seafood, chicken, appetizers, and dinner plates. The prices are slightly high due it’s prime location along Route 1 in the Seacoast region. A foot long sub is around $ 7-$ 8 and small pizzas are in the $ 8-$ 10 range. Daily specials are offered. The place is order at the counter with chalkboard menus, seating inside and outside in front with great views of Route 1 traffic. They call your name when your order is ready. I decided on a small Amanda($ 8.25 plus tax) pizza, which had ricotta, mozzarella, sauce, sweet sausage, and tomatoes. The pizza was ready in 15 minutes and brought out to me in the dining room. The pizza had 4 modest sized slices, which were greasy including the very firm soft chewy crust, crisp on the bottom. This Amanda pizza tasted pretty darn good because it had the makings of my favorite NY calzone, except I was having pizza, right down to the exact ingredients I would choose. Yumm!!! The real«Amanda» must really know great pizza! Overall: 4.25 stars
