History
Established in 1978.
Dora Winn immigrated from Europe in 1975 shortly after receiving her Bachelor Degree in Fashion Design & Dressmaking in Athens, Greece. After several years of service, Dora decided to go into business for herself. In 1978 she opened the first Dora’s Alterations & Monogramming in a small storefront on Mellen Street in the Downtown Phoebus area of Hampton, Virginia. After relocating a small handful of times, Dora has continued to service the needs of the Peninsula for consecutive 35 years. Now located in the Coliseum area, Dora has expanded her Alterations business to include Dry Cleaning, laundered shirts and comforters.
