At the core of our video business, we digitize video, for transfer to DVD or digital files such as MP4 or AVI.

Beacon Digital Video creates professional high-​quality DVDs and digital files from all types of media. We convert VHS tapes & camcorder tapes, slides, film (8mm, super 8 & 16mm) and digital photos. Our video services also include video editing, photo editing, DVD duplication, and any type of video conversions. We serve both consumer and corporate clients.

Additionally, Beacon Digital Video offers affordable web design services for small to medium-​sized companies and organizations. We develop clean, effective websites that get results. Sites from a simple 1-​page ‘web presence’ starting at $ 500 up to a fully enabled eCommerce site. Other web services include hosting, search engine optimization (SEO) & maintenance services.

Although we keep regular office hours (and then some) we operate by appointment in case we are busy with another customer; or on occasion, out of the office.

History

Established in 2004.

Beacon Digital Video was started out of the need of owner/​founder Dave Doherty’s need to consolidate over 40 years personal photos and videos. Says Doherty: «We were downsizing our home when moving to the seacoast and had boxes and boxes of photos, slides, 8 mm film and VHS tapes. Aside from being difficult to view and share with the family, and deteriorating over time — they were taking up a lot of room! I thought — I should transfer all this to DVD — and that’s how we got into the video editing and transfer business.

All business need a website, so drawing on my past experience in the corporate world, I built the Beacon Digital Video website. While it’s a bit dated now (yes, 2004 is dated), it’s still how over 85 percent of our customers find us. Being so successful with our own site, I started offering website development as another service. We primarily focus on small company sites with great SEO (search engine optimization) so the sites can be found by potential customers.

Dave has been in front of a computer since the 70’s, Before Beacon Digital Video Dave held a variety of technical and senior management positions focusing on customer service optimization and automation with several high-​tech companies.

Combined with his lifelong love of photography and videography, Dave’s computer, customer service and management skills are a natural fit for Beacon Digital Video.
