Al Gauron Deep Sea Fishing & Whale Watching

World’s best fishing trip! We have gone deep sea fishing here before. We plan on coming back. Every time its even better than the last.

Crew was great, but the regulars on that boat make the ocean seem less salty by comparison — they pretty much had carte blanche to do whatever they wanted. I get those are your best customers, but — guys — set some boundaries!
We did catch a lot of fish, but I would never recommend you pay to spend nine hours on a boat full of assholes.

We went on a Wednesday night fireworks cruise. Parking was only $ 5 with your ticket. the boat was big and clean… plenty of places to sit or stand for great views. Our captain gave us a great narration on the History of Star Island and surrounding islands (I learned a lot.)
The DJ played lively fun music that was great for families as well as the party crowd, When it was tine for the fireworks, we got a great view! Will definitely do this again!

I can’t believe all the negative reviews! It’s shocking because out of the 3 deep sea fishing trips I’ve gone out on, this is by far the best!
We scheduled an all day fishing trip for ⁷⁄₁₀ on the Northern Star, the last day of our vacation. When we got there at 6:45 am, there were probably 15 people’s coolers already lined up, so we just got in line (I think someone mentioned people showing up 10 minutes before and getting on first, well from what we saw at least, these people had marked their place in line long before we even got there). By the time the boat was loaded and ready to go, the boat was probably ¾ full, which is decent since most boats they overbook. We got a spot closer to the back and settled in for the trip. It took about an hour to get to the first spot, and I dropped my line and pulled up a keeper haddock within 5 minutes! Dropped my line again and pulled up another! There were a good amount of line tangles, which is expected when you’re not anchored and just drifting. The crew however, were on top of all of them, with the captain even coming out to help point out fish on, or people who needed help. The guy next to us kept having problems, and the crew kept bringing him new rods. Once the dogfish came in we moved, and that’s when my luck ran out. Two or three dogfish catches, then at the third spot an undersized haddock and cod. Then my boyfriend hooked a good sized haddock, and one more dogfish. We had a very pleasant group or two next to us, and I spent most of my time chatting with them.
The galley was fully stocked and had great variety, and the woman running it was super nice and helpful. I can’t wait to go back out with these guys!
(PS, it’s a good idea to specify what trip you’d like to go out on when making a reservation, since they offer multiple trips daily. The day we went out there were 2 boats going out for half day mackerel and our boat)

Kind of sad to see all these negative reviews??? I just went today and had the best experience! Everyone on the boat was extremely nice and very helpful! I’m from FL and grew up on the water, but have never fished up north before. I did the all day fishing trip from 8am-​5pm and everyone on the boat caught tons of fish! I even maxed out my limit on haddock! The guys on board flayed my catch and bagged it for me, too! If you’re ever in the Boston area, you should definitely check this place out! See if there’s still a groupon, too!

Hopefully the trip will be better than the totally rude, nasty mean lady on the phone!!! I have come to this beach my whole life and always do a fishing or whale watching trip while here. If I didn’t already have a groupon I would have not booked anything from the lady on the phone … Where has customer service gone? Clearly they are not doing well so they had a groupon. Maybe they should focus on service a bit more

Ive been to many deep sea fishing boats and this is by far one of these worst experiences I have had. I am going to keep this short and simple, the boat stayed in one spot the whole time, website states bait is included in price however none was given, we fished for stupid mackerel the whole time so that they get to keep it in the end, trip left later than departure time and came back 45 min earlier than scheduled time. Overall, totally not worth the money spent, I left there feeling ripped off. NEVER AGAIN SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE

Yesterday, I went on my fourth trip with Al Gauron (1 whale watching trip and 3 half day deep sea fishing trips) and once again, it was a fantastic time.
I find that the deckhands are always very helpful, attentive and friendly and there’s a good selection of snacks, beverages, burgers and hot dogs in the galley. My trips have never been overbooked and we’ve always had plenty of room to move around for either fishing, taking photos or simply socializing.
I highly recommend Al Gauron fishing or whale watching trips and I’m sure that you’ll also have a great time!

I’ve been on their fishing trips about 8 or 9 times now. Once for a full day and the rest were half day fishing trips. I wanted to give them 4-​stars, but I’ve had mixed experiences. Definitely not a 5-​star business as their boats aren’t in top shape/​cleanliness. The crew is a hit or miss as sometimes they’re good, friendly and accommodating and other times it just seems like they don’t care to help.
If you’re lucky to get a half booked boat and some fun fishing, great! Otherwise, the boats tend to fill up (they over book/​fill) and you end up with a ton of people and tangled fishing lines all day. Sometimes the crew can’t keep up with untangling the lines and the fishing is miserable.
I always hope to catch some decent fish, not just mackerel. But it seems like they’re trying to save gas and stay close to shore or not move much after they stop even if the fishing is slow. All in all, it’s a hit or miss. But it’s still fishing and you’re out at sea with sunshine and fresh air. Good luck!

Went on an all day fishing trip with these clowns twice for some reason. The first time it was a great alot of fish (pollack). The deckhands are a bunch of a-​holes basically. one deckhand blamed me for getting a line caught in the rutter of the boat which was not my fault whatsoever, because of this they refused to give me another rod. Another trip we took with them was also terrible. Crew again was just a bunch of morons who think they know fishing basically. Think 5 fish were caught and it was fullboat. They will scam you into buying a fly and jig for ten bucks but dont do it stick with chunk bait. If we were on shore i woulda slugged a crew member for getting in our faces on a few occasions. If they hate their job so much im sure you bumbs could find a job at burger king. Also mr gauron if you cancel a trip try to do so and give people sufficent notice.
