Ocean View Terrace

If you’re looking for an outdated, not so clean, and very BASIC hotel, this is the place for you. If not, don’t let the pictures fool you!
— Wifi — did not hold a connection at all. It was 1 bar and would disappear once you tried signing in.
— The view — not exactly an «ocean» view. If you walk out of your room and face Montauk Highway, you can look past the houses and see the Bay.
— Balcony/​Patio — also, not exactly. It’s about 3 steps up to your door and there’s a tiny porch with two plastic chairs and a little table with an ash tray. It’s about enough space to place your belongings when unloading them from the car to bring it in to the room.
Well for close to $ 800 for just a weekend, I was expecting to have a way better experience than what I had. The room I was in was completely outdated. The «kitchenette» had a dirty stovetop that desperately needed a scrub down, and all of the plates and utensils appeared very old and dirty, AKA the only item I used in that whole area was a bottle opener. Even the sponge next to the sink looked like something that should’ve been thrown out months ago.
Now to the rest of the room. The AC left the room smelling very musty and we had to keep the windows open despite the heat, just to let some fresh air in. The two twin beds weren’t terrible, it would have been nice to have headboards instead of just two mattresses.
The bathroom was also very outdated. There was no fan for some ventilation after showering, only a small window. The shower/​tub was very narrow, and definitely wasn’t the cleanest of hotel showers. On the hotel description, it says «free toiletries»… which consisted of a mini shampoo and conditioner, body lotion, and 2 tiny bars of soap. One of the soaps were cracked, and we opened it and put it next to the sink to wash our hands. When the cleaning staff came in to clean the room, they took the broken soap out but didn’t leave a replacement so then we were left with 1 small, thin bar of soap to wash our hands and shower with (good thing we brought our own toiletries). Towels… definitely not the fluffy white hotel towels you’d normally get. They felt as if they were used and put through the wash millions of times since they were so rough to the touch.
Television… there was a small flat screen Coby brand TV mounted on the wall between both beds. It did its job the first night; we didn’t spend much time in the hotel during the day but it was nice for some background noise to fall asleep to at night. Well that all crashed and burned on our second night there. As we were leaving to go to dinner, I shut the tv off and closed the door. A few hours later we returned to our room, went to turn the tv on and there was no response. The cable box was working and responding to the remote but nothing from the tv. I consider myself a tech-​savvy person so I did the standard troubleshooting that anyone would tell you to do. Unplugged, checked all connections, batteries, input, etc. Still nothing. So at this point I went to go to the office, but unfortunately after 9pm there’s no one physically there to assist you. Door closed, lights off. Attempt #2: dialed 0 on the phone and the owner picked up the phone. I explained the situation, and she suggested I unplug the tv and maybe that’ll fix it. After I told her I tried everything possible to troubleshoot, there was a pause and she explained, «I’m very sorry but there’s nothing I can do about it at this time of night», leaving me at a dead end. The only «good» thing about this room is now broken and there wasn’t a thing to do about it. She seemed very bothered that I called her at 10:30pm, as if I was interrupting one of the tv shows she was watching since I could hear it blaring in the background. I was baffled at the response I got. Especially because we paid a fortune for a weekend stay and this place was not at all what we expected.
This entire hotel needs a full makeover. With the amount of money brought in each season I’m sure there’s enough to go around for a few cans of paint and sprucing up all the rooms! By the time we were checking out, the woman remembered us and the TV issue and offered right away to give us a discount. After she said $ 50, I thought that wasn’t much but instead more of a smack in the face! I told her that we both slept terribly the whole night because of no TV for background noise, and she didn’t budge at all to compromise with me. She could’ve done more to make up for the bad experience!
So as a result of this terrible stay, I will never return here and I will continue sharing my bad experience with others so they don’t run into the same problem.

A great location clean room with a great view close to downtown Southampton and 10 minutes from the beach.

On the good side: Nice enough view of the bay from across the street. Clean sheets and towels. No parking problem although it was across the lot. Down side: the sink was clogged. The toilet wax seal leaked toilet water on the floor. The mattress was very hard. No one on duty in the morning to talk to or check out. Had to leave the key inside the office door. Very expensive for what you get.

I have been coming to Ocean View for at least 15 years. I have stayed in almost every room at least once as each has it’s own characteristics. Some have kitchens, some have twin beds, etc. Every room is always clean and every year there are updates in décor or basic infrastructure. This past weekend, we had a new shower instead of a shower/​bath mix. You could almost ballroom dance in it! We ordered in Chinese one night and Italian another as we were there for work. Perfect 5 days/​4 nights. See you next month P and J.

Rooms were always fresh! We loved staying here and seeing the ocean every day! Wife and I enjoyed ourselves and we’re able to get great tips on where to eat and go out!
Anytime we to to the area this is where we will stay!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary getaway. We got a room with a bathroom, jacuzzi, kitchen, fireplace, king-​sized bed and a TV for about $ 300 (check-​in 3pm 7/​10, check-​out 3pm ⁷⁄₁₁). It was all cute and cozy and I love love LOVED the bed. The shower is small but eh who needs a massive shower? The jacuzzi was lovely! The staff (an older woman and a younger male who only started working there for a week or 2 so far) were very nice and polite.
The kitchen is a decent size for 2, but the fan didn’t work in there. So when I cooked I couldn’t air out the kitchen. The stove and fridge seem cheap but they get the job done (the fridge even froze our wine! oops!). The A/​C that was in there could have worked a lot better, in my opinion, but it did cool the room if you left it on for a good 2 hours or so.
I don’t boo this place, as I had really enjoyed my stay there. It was pleasant. But I wouldn’t exactly want to spend more than 2 – 3 days here.

My best friend and I recently planned a trip to Long Island and originally planned to stay at the Hilton in Riverhead. When we realized we made the mistake of booking the wrong dates we were pleasantly surprised to find this place had an opening and was steeply discounted on priceline. Based on the good reviews on trip Advisor we booked it. Driving to the motel was easy as it is located on the main drag (27A) and has a well lit sign so it is hard to miss. The motel seemed to have minimal occupants but this was likely due to our end of the season travel dates. At check in the man at the desk was pleasant enough and was happy to offer us suggestions for what to see and do. When we unlocked the door to our room however we found the cleaning crew had not been through the unit with unmade beds and coffee cups out in the open. When we walked back to the office, the office manager was very apologetic and went above and beyond the call of duty and upgraded us to a two bedroom suite with a balcony overlooking the bay. While I wouldn’t expect that they would do this with all their customers it was such a kind gesture and we found the suite to be perfect for what we needed it for! The only minimal complaint I could say would be that the bathroom for a suite was a little small and without a fan (easy enough to fix with the window open) and they didnt serve coffee. But for the money it was a steal and the location was excellent, we would definitely stay again.
