Last night I left the store with a few items I purchased including some wine, when I got home I discovered that I left the wine there, and thought the owner charged me for something that I did not get. I returned to the store where the owner found my transaction on his register and while so noticed he was punching in some numbers to what I believe he said he sold me the wine that I left behind. To make a long story short I thought he charged me for something that I did not receive, and gave in to him thus buying another bottle of wine. A first I thought he was right so I even apologized to him but even after that the owner was very rude, obnoxious, and condescending as he thought I was trying to put one over on him. I sometimes frequent this place as it is only a few miles from my place, however after last night and the owners attitude about the whole matter over an what I thought was an honest mistake I will now travel a few more miles further to the likes of Canal’s Discount Liquors where I will be treated like a customer and not like someone that thinks I was trying to pull something on him. And by the way I did manage to find my receipt this morning to find out that he did in fact charge me for the original bottle of wine that I DIDNOTRECIEVE!!! everyone if you are not happy with the service here then go to Canal’s Discount Liquors: Joe Canal’s Discount Liquors 240 S. I have a huge crush on Pike Wines & Liquors. Why? Because they are the only place in Atlantic County that carries Bohemian Highway Merlot. I’ve been to every chain, every mom & pop, every«gourmet”/“artisan”/liquor«shoppe,» but I had to go to Pike to find what I was looking for. Pike is a modest little store on the White Horse Pike in Hammonton carrying an A-OK selection of wines, beers, and liquors. Don’t expect craft brews or Dom Perignon, but do expect classic stand-bys at reasonable prices from a good family. Michael and his lovely wife are warm-hearted and sweet. Michael even recognized me after only meeting me once, about 5 years ago. If I have one complaint, it’s their selection of chilled beverages. This would not be the place to go if you need to pick up a chilled bottle of something on the fly, because chances are they won’t have it chilling. Also, they tend to burn incense at night, which can be a little jarring to your olfactory system if you’re not accustomed to the scent. You can get your lottery tickets here as well! Overall, this is a local business I am more than happy to patronize.
