Used to be better and friendlier. My take on it is that it used to be a very popular, smaller restaurant, but now it seems to be on the way down. Sad. Three of us, each driving for hours, were tired. Ok, we got there close to 8 pm on a Wednesday, but the hours said they were open until 10. We’re from VA and MD. We’d been there before, must have been back in the day when their food was good. 2 types of chips not homemade; seasoned ones were good. Homemade Verde salsa good, red spicy; my hubby would have liked it. I ordered a burrito carnitas. Dry. Friend’s salad had lots of meat, but taco shell seemed small. Her husband ordered queso dip… melted glop, not the creamy white queso I’ve had before. In fact, it was ORANGE!(Kraft 4 cheese Mexican blend from a bag?) with the cheese oil floating on top! He also ordered a burrito, wanted it w/o beans inside, and with red sauce. Commented it seemed like all meat. They never offered to refill my tea mug with water, let alone bring a fresh teabag; water on the table was not refilled, either. Asked if we wanted dessert. NOSOPAPILLAS!!! I mean, really, how tough is it to fry up a couple of tortillas, drizzle some honey and sprinkle some cinnamon on top? And maybe throw on a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a chocolate drizzle, if you want to get fancy. We figured it was getting close to 9 o’clock and they wanted to close up shop. But you know, they did advertise that they were open till 10. Disappointing; won’t be back.

As some have noted, this isn’t exactly authentic. They do make some homemade items but a lot of it is store bought items you could get and do yourself. That said, it wasn’t expensive and the portions were good. If you are hungry, this place is fine.

So upset. Had the worse service ever. First, they brought my husband out the wrong food for his appetizer. Then, they brought out my dinner entrée at least twenty minutes before my husband’s. I got salad, so i just waited to eat it, but it was half the size of any other time i had come there. Then, they charged extra for the table salsa(sauce with chips), and also extra, for my coffee refill this time. I thought this was odd because in the twenty years we have been coming here, at least once a week, we have never been charged. So, I asked the lady at the register if that was normal, because we had never been charged before for them, and was barked at by this women ringing me up that it was. She acted like we were trying to steal food or something. Look here the thing, I think if you’re going to charge for things that are normally free everywhere else, and that you have never charged for before, then maybe you should explain the fee before you bring it out, but whatever. Mainly, I am just upset that I was spoke to like this. I just asked if this was normal. I wasn’t going to argue the bill or anything and I actually went out of my way to be super nice about everything. We didn’t complain about the wrong food, just ate what we were given. Anyway, I will never come here to eat again. We have spent so much money eating here over the years. We are absolutely regulars at this restaurant so I really don’t appreciate being treated this way at all. Completely done with this place.

Went here once with friends, food was decent, do I decided to go back with my family. We made reservations in advance(it’s a smaller place, and we are a party of 6), and arrived early. When we went to check in, there was a big discussion as to if we had reservations or not, but eventually it was decided that we did. We waited. And waited. And waited. Many people came and went. We went and asked when we would be seated, and they said soon. Then we kept waiting. Finally, after waiting an hour past our reservation time, with hungry kids getting more and more unhappy, we got up to leave. They saw us going, and magically there was a table for us! We went back to find out it was a very small table for four, with an extra chair pulled up and barely any room. We reminded them there were six of us, and they just looked at us like we were crazy. We pointed to a table next to ours that as set for six, and asked if we could sit there. They told us it was set for someone with reservations… Then we left. The food wasn’t good enough to wait two hours or to be treated rudely. There are plenty of other really good restaurants in the area!

Reading everybody’s reviews on here I had to log in just to ask… have you guys actually eaten authentic mexican food before? Went last night for the first time because a few people raved about this place and decided to check it out. That was a mistake, apparently they had never eaten«authentic» mexican either. We should’ve left as soon as the chips and salsa came out to the table. The chips were store bought and tasted like they salted them extra before bringing them to the table. The salsa’s they brought to the table(verde & rojas) looked to be made in-house… the verde was«ok» but the rojas was so damn spicy you couldn’t even taste it(and I like hot). Our entrees were bland and had no «real» taste, the re-fried beans were just red pintos thrown into a cup with some water(from a can) with melted cheddar on them. They were gross, had 2 bites and didn’t eat the rest, same with my girlfriend. The biggest disappointment was the horchata! It tasted like a lavender incense, maybe it was some pre-mix stuff or something but it wasn’t that great. Will never go back. So far our favorite in Southern New Jersey out of all the restaurants we’ve tried, Maria’s in Berlin is hands-down the best when it comes to hospitality, quality of food, and value. Everything is made in-house and is fresh & authentic.

We came for lunch yesterday prior to a winery visit. Lunch was really good. Ihad the tacos al pastor and my husband had a chorizo torta. Both were plentiful and delicious. Too far it’s so far from home, or we would go back again!

Chips awesome, both salsa good. We had chicken tamales and they were dry, sort of like there was flour in the batter, vs all corn. Also had steak and shrimp fajitas. Not bad, steak also a little dry and tough… Over all we have been here before and this was first time not top notch.

First time in, won’t be the last. Very tasty guacamole. I had enchiladas verde on the recommendation of our server. Nailed it. Very good. Hubby was happy with his enchiladas Rojas. Service was fantastic. Wish we lived closer but will go back when in the area. Very clean, very friendly.

A nice little gem in Hammonton. Food was fresh, hot, and simple. Tamales were among the best we’ve ever had. HUGE menu with all the Mexican standards you expect plus some surprises.

Been here more times than I can count. At times the service has been a little bit slow, but the food has never been bad. This is the only spot in all of south jersey my wife and I will go for some good Mexican cuisine.

Always consistent quality food. Never had a bad meal. True authentic Mexican food. Combo # 4 is always a go to. The burrito loco is a monster of a burrito that could feed two(but why would you want to share!)

This place is the real deal. Authentic Mexican food, made fresh daily, with specials that change each day. The portions are significant enough to share and the wait staff are attentive. This review may change to five stars after I have a chance to try them again. For the first time, they were strong out of the gate and very good.

My girlfriend loves this place. I only go when she craves it. I’ve had way better. The margaritas are pretty good though

Bones found in Enchilads Suizas, little ones. Reordered chicken tacos. Chicken was dry and uninspiring. Also had: Vegetarian enchilada, burrito and hard shell taco. That was good. Rice is delicious and so are retried beans. Good chips and salsa. Friendly, attentive service.

Came here right before it closed, but there was still great service and the waitress was very sweet. The salsas are so spicy and flavorful! I had a carnitas quesadilla which was pretty good

Very authentic — Mexican – handmade food. Salsa and pico de gallo are excellent-nice chips on table before dinner. Their chiles rellenos are delish. Nice size platters. Staff is authentic Mexican. A real jewel in Hammonton.

Taco salad for $ 7.95 was small, bland, no condiments such as salsa or guac. Chicken meat had some flavor, and there was a reasonable amount of chicken. Not much in the way of greens in salad or additions to make up the salad. Coffee was good. However, no free refills. Very busy on Saturday dinnertime, locals must like it. I spend time in Southern California, and this place is nothing to be proud of.

Been coming here back when it only had 3 tables. I had just moved here from San Antonio TX, it’s as good or better than anything I’ve had in Texas. Very nice inside now as well, they expanded it and remodeled it several years ago. The Verde sauce is the best I’ve ever had. You know your in a good spot when the lunchtime clientele are all hispanic.

Authentic Mexican with fresh ingredients. Mexican beer on tap. Mole varies, but usually is good. (Recently returned(winter 2015) — the service was bad and the food was not up to par.)
