Salvatore «Bill» Arena was born in 1893 in Messina, Sicily. In 1930 he came to the US with his father, Angelo. They settled in Hammonton NJ and together earned enough money to bring the rest of their family to America.
Bill worked many jobs in his early life. Being very mechanically inclined, he began repairing and selling automobiles. He opened Arena Auto Service on the White Horse Pike in Hammonton in 1920.
In 1922 he became a dealer for Dort and El Car and in 1925 Nash Automotive was added. Through the 1930’s, International Harvest Truck and Oldsmobile Motors and
International Harvest Agriculture Tractors was added. In 1981 Pontiac was added to the company. In May of 1986 Mr. Arena passed away and his business continues into the third generation. In 2000, GMC Truck was added. In March 2003, Buick was added. Today the Arena Buick GMC Cub Cadet is owned and run by his son, Joseph J. Arena and his grandson, Joseph J. Arena, Jr.
