The only reason they are even getting 1 star is because the man that did my pedicure did a good job. Now the man who did my over lay did a HORRIBLE job!!! He filed my nails so hard, he actually took the side of my nail off on 2 different nails!!! I then showed him and asked him is there any way he could fix it cause now my nail looks sideways, he then told me no and got attitude. So I asked if the other guy can finish my nails off and he said fine u tell him what you want. When the other guy starts doing my nails he doesn’t even know English to understand my problem so let’s just say my nails look HORRIBLE. I am so upset that he actually took my real nail OFF!!! I HAVENEVERWROTE A REVIEWINMYLIFEBUT I WASBEYONDDISAPPOINTEDINTHEM!!! I WILLNEVERCOMEBACKHERE! THEYDIDN’T EVENSAYSORRYORGIVEME A DISCOUNTFORDOINGWHATTHEYDID! SAVEYOURMONEYANDGOSOMEWHEREELSE!!!

Ive been here a number of times. Its real hit or miss. The environment is clean. The equiptment is sterilized. The prices are good, not too expensive. Its best to go there early in the week and early afternoon. When they have time and its not busy, the service and nails are quality. If the they are busy, they do a quick and sloppy job.

I’m in town needing a touch up on my current french-tip manicure so I found this spot on Unilocal.A young man with high-lights in his hair took me immediately! I explained that I wanted a color change/touch up on my manicure and one big toe(I know… strange, but the polish was chipped and it was not a good look)! He finished my big toe then moved on to my nails. I noticed that he wasn’t doing a thorough job so I had to ask him to repaint about 4 nails, especially the corners! He willingly fulfilled my request without incident, however, i was charged $ 9 for the repaint and one toe(a color change is usually $ 5) !! to add injury to insult, by the end of the next day, 6 of the 11 nails painted were chipped(all fingers)!!! Needless to say, I will not be returning, despite the nice customer service!

After trying some other local nail shops I was very unsatisfied with the service as well as some of the shops themselves. I drive past Gel Nails quite often as its right by Walmart so I looked them up one day to read the reviews. I was surprised by how many great reviews they have so I decided to give them a try. I could not be happier I have finally found my favorite nail salon. The people are very friendly and conversational, they are very professional and get you in as quick as possible, the service is great and they are very attentive, the shop is beautiful and spacious, and the prices are great as well. I went in very late one evening thinking they may not take me since it was close to closing time but I noticed they take customers right up until closing time. They did an excellent job on my nails and I will definitely be going back as a regular customer. Its nice to see business that truly appreciate their customers. Overall it was one of the best experiences Ive had in a nail shop yet. If you’re looking for great nails and great service definitely try this place. Don’t cheat ya self, treat ya self!

worst nail experience ever. even after going back for a redo, im completely dissatisfied. also, not only was the work done of poor quality, i noticed theyre not very sanitary at all. the tools used were put right back in the drawer they came from with no disinfecting & the left over acetone i soaked my hands in, went back in the bottle. gross. never again.

Gel and nails is the name of this place. It was a Friday evening and I wanted to get a manicure and pedicure. I called ahead of time to schedule an appointment(no need to). Walked in. Was greeted and seated very quickly. The person who took care of me was a young male who did a great job. I paid $ 32 dollars for a Mani and pedi. Good prices. Friendly staff. Quick turn around. Will go again.

I stumbled across ‘Gel Nails”(don’t know why it’s listed as as Gelanlis Nails on here.) after a random trip to Hammond’s Village Discount Thrift Store(yes, Indiana is so other-wordly for this Chicagoan that it merits special ‘trips” to! lol). Low and behold, the greatest nail shop I’ve ever been to! From the outside it looks a little janky(it’s also located in the same plaza of a Wal-Mart and an abandoned but still operating Carson Pirie Scott!) but Gel Nails is fixed up really nice on the inside! Marble floors, tasteful decorations, extremely clean, and VERY friendly AND professional staff. Their prices are decent and what I love ABSOLUTELY most about this place is that for every client they use a new, and completely sterlized nail implement kit. You can see their UV sterilzers in the back and you know it’s sterilized because they take it out of this plastic baggy thing that’s sealed shut after every implement is cleaned. Kind of like MEDICAL grade sterilization. Nail shops are PRIME feeding grounds for dangerous bacterial spores and I’m so glad that Gel Nails takes infection control very seriously and delivers a great manicure and pedicure experience(think: super high tech pedicure chairs that deliver amazing massages, hot towels with your service, and this really cool thing that warms up the lotion they use on you!). Hit up Mimi or Frankie for your service! Love those two! They also have a Customer Appreciation Card that gives you a discount on your 5th service! :D Gel Nails would have gotten 5 stars if they carried OPI products, but they don’t. Step your game up, guys! You’re ONE star away from being the BEST! Check them out, they’re TOTALLY worth the drive from Chicago!
