Not impressed. The owner is the only one that can make an oyster martini, and he is not around. Crawfish are in season, but seem to be an issue this evening. Waitress needs to check with owner, wait he’s not around. If you are looking for seafood in Hammond, go to Murphy’s or Dons.

Super awesome food. Everything was great. Wait staff was blah. Totally not picky people either. Had to ask for menus, had to ask for plates for appetizer, had to ask for refill, brought check without asking if we needed dessert.

OMG, I have been missing this stuff for 4-years. 7-minutes for the oysters, the Friday Special(see the pics) was in my face 4-minutes later. Sweet folks, perfect food. Don’t miss out! A bowl of gumbo comes with the lunch!

Just shared a dozen of the biggest, coldest, saltiest oysters I have enjoyed so far in Hammond! Delish! Monday nights only $ 8.95 a dozen! Went for lunch today and oysters were regular price, but $ 11.95 is a fair price, and although my husband likes the large oysters, I enjoy medium/small sized ones, and the oyster shucker gave us some extras on the smaller side as lagniappe! Several folks in town recommended this place and it did not disappoint! After the oysters my husband had the seafood gumbo and we loved it! It was a file style gumbo with plenty of shrimp and yummy okra. I had the shrimp, crab and corn bisque which was good, but I added a decent amount of Tabasco because I likee the spice. We had cold beers with our oysters and gumbo, so we were kinda full but wanted to try an entrée so we picked the Shrimp LaLa to share, and let me just say ooooh la shrimp lala! Omg! 8 – 10 medium sized fresh shrimp with mushrooms, garlic, and swimming in, lets just say a stick of butter sauce! But since I agree with Julia Child in that you can never have too much butter, especially when they bring you french bread for sopping, my hubby and I dove right in and enjoyed every bite. For an extra dollar you can ad pasta… I think I will try that the net time just to give the butter another vehicle besides the bread! Definitely decadent but also delicious. Not fancy but a cool, casual vibe with friendly staff and great seafood. Can’t wait to go back!

Stopped by on way to Florida… Food was great! Staff very inviting! Only drawback we spent $ 120.00 on dinner and when we wanted to go cups for our drinks we got kiddie size cups. The owner will charge you for larger Togo cup which is why I only gave 3 stars instead of 4.

Had a fantastic dinner! A dozen huge salty oysters for $ 8 and jambalaya. Also told Cheyenne, our awesome server, that the sweet tea was the best I ever had in my life. She told me she makes it and shared her secret. We will make this a regular stop on our I-10 travels.

This is the quintessential neighborhood Louisiana seafood restaurant. Great food and friendly servers. I’m having the Oysters LaLa tonight. Great comfort meal of sautéed oysters over angel hair and garlic butter. Raw oysters are cleanly shucked and an oyster lovers find. But it’s not just about oysters. Catfish, Shrimp and all things New Orleans. Do yourself a favor!

Gross. Terrible service. Almost broke a tooth. Waited 5 minutes after sitting for a waitress. Finally we stood up to leave and magically someone noticed us… even though we were in plain sight and the waitress made eye contact with us when we entered. Ordered the fries with cheese and gravy. Fries tasted old and the cheese was gross. Ordered shrimp and oyster basket for dinner. Fried oysters had shell fragments that nearly broke my tooth. After two attempts at eating separate oysters resulted in nearly loosing a tooth, I gave up on them. Shrimp were okay. Catfish was nasty/rubbery. I had spied bread pudding on the dessert menu. I love bread pudding! Their bread pudding is completely gross. The«rum sauce» tasted like pineapple/lemon crap. Couldn’t eat it. Waitress never refilled waters and could rarely be found. Paid $ 50 for gross and dangerous food and terrible customer service. Their website claims to have boiled seafood, but all they have is shrimp despite website mentioning crawfish. Skip this place.

I’m a big fan of this little place BUT it’s all about timing. Arrive early for lunch and the service is good but the — and I never realized this was a job title — oyster shucker may or may not be there. If s/he is there, outstanding oysters. If not, plenty of other options but outside of the sides, nothing that rises above diner fare. Service can be spotty based on volume of customers but nothing that’s made me stay away.

I’ve been a fan of Chookie’s since the were in their«old» location on south Morrison(before Times Square or the«newest» location) and it has always had the BEST service and food. The raw oysters are huge and the beer is cold. The staff is local, so you can ask directions or for information about local events and get the true scoop. If you’re wondering what to order, try the Seafood Potato on Crazy Potatoes(seafood baked potato served over red potatoes cooked crawfish boil style)

Great food, good prices and easy to get to. What more can you ask for?! Shrimp poboy rates at the top of great poboys I have eaten — which as a native New Orleanian, means a lot! Packed with shrimp that are perfectly fried, crispy on the outside and nice and plump inside. Great French bread — easy to eat, not crumbly. The seafood gumbo is really well done, too. I wished I’d ordered a bowl instead of a cup!
