I would never go to this place, I canceled my groupon after one visit there. I had a 3:00PM appointment for hair cut and blow-dry and was late by 5 mins due to awful number of detours. They say, they can only do a haircut but not blow-dry coz I was late. Never been treated like that. Waste of time.

I have to say, the reviews I read didn’t do this place justice. The salon is conveniently located, in the Shoppes at Hamilton on Rt. 130, and is clean and well-kept. I went to Necessities after purchasing a VIP Groupon, which offered a 50-minute massage, facial, hot stone pedicure, and hair treatment(shampoo, deep condition, cut, and blow dry). Alison was my facialist. She was gentle, asking questions and identifying problem areas and how she was switching up my treatment to best suit my skin type, sun damage, etc. I almost fell asleep while she was working! The massage was very relaxing. The room was enclosed and dim. It smelled nice(I believe there was an oil burner on) and was very clean. My therapist, Cheri, was amazing. She was clearly very experienced and warm – never pushy. She gave me ample time to undress and redress and was helpful in telling me who I needed to go to next in my VIP circuit. Bridget was my hair stylist, and it was actually her first day. She was very sweet, and appeared to be much more in her element than most probably do on their first day. She was a little rough when washing my hair, but I know others may like their scalp rubbed harder than I do. My cut was a simple trip and exactly what I wanted. Cathi was my nail technician and was very personable. She was a little thrown when I asked her not to remove my polish(I had gel and didn’t want to sit for much longer after the VIP circuit), but just to let me soak and clean up a bit and still doing the stone treatment. The area with the foot soak tubs is beautiful, as they’re built-in mosaic stone tubs set below a cushioned communal bench. The nail portion of the salon is just off of the hallway there the massage/facial therapy rooms are located and is set back from the hair salon. This alcove is not entirely private, but is a nice departure from the wide open setting of most standard nail salons. I loved the staff at the salon and found it clean and comfortable. I will definitely be returning in the very near future!

I went into Necessities Spa and Salon on 7÷4÷2013 after purchasing a Groupon for a haircut, shampoo and color for $ 49.00. Because the color I chose wasn’t a common color, I emailed the salon a picture of my current hair color along with the hair color I desired just to make sure they were able to do it. I was told that it may need an extra coloring process over the phone and they would get a better idea when I went in for the appointment but it was something they can definitely do. During my consultation, i was very clear with both of them what my expectations were. First, Nicole(owner) and Rebecca bleached my hair to blonde to get a more accurate color. I was told that it MAY not come out the exact shade but it would be close to it. After they applied the color and washed it off, my hair came out MAROON! One of the shades I made clear I didn’t want during the consultalton. At an attempt to «fix» their mistakes, the owner suggested they apply a blue tint to offset any maroon that was in my hair. After three hours of being there, my hair was black, or so I thought. I reluclantly paid because I was tired after three hours and had a toddler to rush home to. The nightmare didn’t begin till I got home at 9pm and took a closer look in my bathroom mirror. The entire inside of my hair and sideburns were orange. ORANGE!!! Nicole emailed me as soon as I left saying that they would dye my hair a single color for«free» but after this tragic experience, I NEVER want to step foot in that place again! To make things even worse, the dye damaged my shirt and pillow case. The next day, I was able to make an appointment with a different salon and they were able to fix the damage Necessities did to my hair. The entire staff and their clients were all shocked at what Nicole did and even suggested I take them to court if they don’t refund my money. All of the professionals at the new salon made it clear that they didn’t know what they were doing…

I had a groupon for partial highlights and a cut for $ 55. This salon is very nice from inside. They had a separate sitting area that was decorated nicely and was away from the salon where my mom sat with my baby while I was getting my much-needed break. I was worked on by Brianna(I believe that was her name, it was a few weeks ago). She did a great highlighting job although was hesitant since my dark hair MAY have turned my highlights into some orange hue. She suggested that if that happened I could get a hair toner in for $ 25 so I took the chance. It didn’t turn orange– she took the foil off on time and checked periodically while still allowing me to walk around the salon and check on my baby(which I appreciated). I also liked my cut… everything I asked for was listened to– it was a simple layering with a side bang. One negative is that I was told that because my hair was so long it would be an additional $ 20. I have done some posh NYC salons that don’t do that(but I’ve been to enough that do that this wasn’t THAT irritating). She did finally let me know that if I didn’t want a blow-out, there would be no extra charge and I ended up not getting a blow-out because I was going home and my baby was fussy anyway. But, I had a good experience here. Nice small bar for water and snacks as well. Clean and comfortable and ample parking. Very professional.
