As far as chains go… I love DiBella’s! It’s my go-to sandwich chain for cold-cut sandwiches.(D’Angelo’s for hot subs, and just forget about Subway for anything.) I’ve had the hot subs here, and they are decent, but I’d say the cold cut sandwich is the main attraction here. The bread at DiBella’s is always fresh, and I love the oil dressing. My top pick is The Godfather, I highly recommend it. The walnut-chocolate chip cookies are great, soft and chewy, a great way to end your meal.

Decided to try this place after someone told me about it. All i can say is the buffalo chicken sub was the worst sub I’ve ever had. You want good subs do not go here.

Wonderful breads. Large portions. Good for vegetarians or meat lovers. The huge pickles are yummy deli style. Nice service. Clean atmosphere. Really glad it’s here!

For a chain sandwich place, this place isn’t terrible. For comparison purposes, if I were rating local chains for sandwiches it would go like this: Subway: Zero stars. Well maybe 1 star because it’s cheap. But it’s the Taco Bell of sandwiches; cheap but you get what you pay for. Everything tastes processed beyond all reason. D’angelo: 3 stars. They have a grill and at least the turkey tastes sort of like actual turkey. More expensive though. DiBella’s is a little different from either of those. It seems like they specialize in grilled sandwiches rather than cold cuts. That works against them because it’s slower than Subway and probably D’angelo also. They also don’t seem to have a good process so it appears disorganized and the other day they messed up my order. I find it amusing that I order the chicken philly and they always ask me if I want grilled peppers and onions and cheese on that. Yeah I do, that’s why I ordered a chicken philly! Also the other day«Do you want lettuce and tomato on your BLT?» And it’s not like it’s just one time; this happens whenever I go to any DiBella’s. Anyway the food is decent for a chain. They have regular bread, sesame or «everything» bread and it’s better than most. It costs more than Subway and about the same as D’angelo. You can probably do better at a local deli/sandwich place but this place isn’t too bad.

Excellent sandwiches, and excellent service. Portioned very generously. I had the Godfather with the Dibella’s oil. I suspect the earlier reviews were just grand opening hicups. I was in a party of 3, and we were all very pleased with our orders. Better than any Italian sandwich I’ve had where I live in Stamford(Rinaldi’s included).

You mine as well go to your local pizza shop and get a cheesesteak if you want flavor and correct proportion of meat and bread. Lacked flavor and the meat isn’t like real steak… weird BUT the bread is good…

Love, love, love this sandwich shop. Ingredients and bread are so fresh. The staff has been great. I usually get a cold sandwich. Tried the meatballs today — surprisingly amazing for a sandwich shop. Good value for price paid.

Took a detour from Chipotle today to try this place. The menu looked promising as far as subs go. I had no issue with the ordering setup or service. Everyone was very nice and it was pretty slow in there so I didn’t feel rushed as others describe. The positives: the subs are huge– not sure how any one person can eat more than a medium(and I can eat); the bread is very fresh and tasty; they have a ton of options and some great sounding hot sub creations. I can really only comment on the one sub I had which was the philly chicken which I’ve had and loved at other local places. The chicken wasn’t shaved like I’m used to but more chunks of chicken which made it taste much less like a cheesesteak. The bun to filling ratio was way off– although the bread is fresh, it would make a better bagel than a sub roll… there was too much bread. If possible, I’d also recommend getting the roll toasted which would work much better on a hot sub. The execution was just not very good and although my sub was huge, I felt like I was trying to finish it just because I was supposed to and not because I was really enjoying it. The Corner Deli, just blocks away, executes this concept significantly better. Not sure another sub shop is what we needed in Hamden.

Stopped in while visiting my old stomping grounds, because this place wasn’t around back when I lived in the area. The service was good, except for the fact that I felt very rushed to make an order as soon as I entered. The sandwich-makers kept calling out to us from way down the counter saying they could help us, and I kept indicating I wasn’t ready(I guess they weren’t getting it). It wasn’t busy, so I am not sure what the urgency was. When I finally did check out the menu and make a choice, things went smoothly with service. People were friendly. Taste: The bread was really, really good, though I got the buffalo chicken sub and it was incredibly bland(and I am not a spicy-snob, but there was not a hint of spiciness). I found this annoying, considering the girl asked if I was okay with spiciness and I said I was. Meh. I’d definitely return to try something different.

This place is joke, I ordered 2 subs and never got them because the staff there are dumb, can’t even take a simple order, last time I go there.

DiBella’s just opened in Hamden today. I’ve never had it before so I decided to go for lunch. It wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be at lunchtime on opening day, which was much appreciated. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect and wasn’t really happy about the ordering process. It felt extremely rushed and because of that, I didn’t get exactly what I wanted, nor were all of my options presented to me. I didn’t like the overall feeling of stress during the process. My sandwich, a medium veggie on multigrain, was good but I would have liked it better if it was made the way that I wished it was. Maybe next time. The bread is good and the veggies seemed fresh enough. I got the oil since that was the only condiment option presented, but I couldn’t really taste it. I’ll give them another shot and try to be slightly more aggressive, for lack of a better word, in my ordering.
