Established in 2006.

The Clarion Hotel & Suites was originally built by CA White over 40 years ago. The hotel went through a two year total renovation and opened as a Clarion in March 2006.

Staff was very helpful and accommodating. BUT DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I walked in to an elevator with no button on it. Next we got to our room, which was smoke free but still smelt like a smoke factory. Peeking from under my bed was someone’s sock and the sock was not mine. Looked into the bathroom and the bottom of the tub was black and dirty. I didn’t even want to walk around my room with no shoes on. Other friends of mine were staying at the hotel with me. To their surprise in their rooms there were blood stains, hair, holes in the wall, dirty tissues in many places, dust, and more. We could barely breathe from the atmosphere, so we packed up our bags at 2 am and left.

Stayed there last night.. . was quoted $ 130 on phone for just a queen sized bed. .VERY small room with small bed and a chair that should be in Alice in the wonderland. Gave a card to hold and we were pay in cash. Checked in at 2:30 am and went to sleep. Front desk called our room at 6:45 demanding us to come to the front desk right away!!.REALLY!?! I said I would by check out time. Check out us at 11am mind you. Then at 10:30 came a knock on the door.. surprise its the front desk demanding payment! Said I would be there soon. Get out and my boyfriend passes a guy who said «you gonna pay»? I was at the front desk paying. I go to pay and the price was $ 179 with tax! Said I was quoted $ 130 and management said I was crazy!!! TERRIBLE PLACE TO STAY!!! COMPLETE DOUCHE BAGS!!!

Clarion is part of the Choice hotel chain, which are moderately priced hotels and motels. This is one of three hotels in the town of Hamden. I was here for a wedding at the nearby reception hall. The wedding party recommended we stay here so they could arrange a school bus for transportation to and from the wedding venue. That actually was very effective and convenient.
I had a king bedroom with free wireless internet access, in-​room coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, in-​room desk, voice mail, wake-​up service and free local calls.
My room 333, which was located on the 1st floor in the rear of the hotel cost $ 120 with taxes as an advanced purchase rate. My room was fine. I booked my room on their web site.
Shuttle transportation is also available Monday — Friday to Yale University and the New Haven Train station.

An extremely pleasant stay, the room was spacious and helpful staff. I love the way they took care of my every lil request, would surely be coming back and would recommend as its right off the exit on route 15, and things have changed big time after its under new management

We chose to stay here over the Quality Inn because the Clarion had a hot tub and pool. BIG MISTAKE! This hotel is DISGUSTING, everything is dirty. The carpets are filthy so you cant walk around barefoot. The guest booklet was filthy. The tables were sticky. The pool was merky so we didnt even get to use the hot tub or pool. There is no plug in near the bed, only one at the desk. If it wouldnt have been so late at night I would have asked to move to another room. I really wish I had checked the bed for bed bugs, but I didnt, though I wouldnt be surprised. My skin was crawling just being in the room! We chose this because it was a choice hotel. Now I am second guessing choice hotels. I did mention how dirty the room was when we checked out and she gave us 10% off, she did tell me that they are replacing all the carpets in that wing and renovating. The place might get better, but I will never go back to find out. The room we had should have never been rented to a guest. The only nice thing was the balcony and a hot shower, these didnt make up for how gross the room was.

I called ahead before I was going to write a review, sadly no manager was asked to come to the call. I was there last night with my 2 kids. Beat after a snowy slippery ride, went out to dinner and payed there to fall asleep. Woke to MANY, dead she’ll backed bugs on the floor and window sill! The only thing I liked about this place was the help of Christopher booking my room. Sadly he did not go the extra mile to have his manager take my complaint when we left. I won’t go back, I work in a company and bend over backwards, even on Unilocal to fix things. They seem to have nothing to say except «sorry». I do not recommend staying here. I hate to write a bad review on any company, this had to be said. Sorry is not enough in this case, if there is one bug in our bags, you will be informed.

Stink Bug Hotel! While the staff was friendly, this hotel needs to work on their stink bug infestation. There were seven in the guest room, they switched us to another room and there were four in that one! Needless to say, we left before our checkout time.

My daughter’s wedding was on April 11th and so many of her guests stayed at this hotel. We had about 70 rooms blocked. We had a great time! There was no problem at check and check out, the rooms were clean, and the staff was professional and courteous. Shout out especially to Falisha and Will — you both were awesome! I’m hoping we get a chance to stay again some time soon. Thank you for everything!!!

Have stayed here one other time for a wedding. This time we stayed for a hockey tournament. Rooms are small, pet friendly (wondered what the stains on the rug were. No continental breakfast, but would serve breakfast for $ 6.00. (continental) pool is small and was closed most of the time (kids were not real happy) bar was a joke, closed around 8:30, we brought out own alcohol much easier and much cheaper. Bartender was getting ready to close and would not give me a glass of wine for my wife because he wanted to leave. Refrigerator was open and I could see the wine. Definitely better hotels for similar money. Probably would not stay here again!

We had a family funeral and had many rooms. We had people coming in and leaving on different days and most with the same last name. The staff was able to handle it all and even kept calling me to let me know when more rooms became available as I traveled up from Virginia. There are only two hotels in town and I had stayed at the other and it was awful so I did not have high expectations. They exceeded my expectations and then some. The staff was so kind and helpful in our time of grief. If you are looking for a clean, safe place to stay with a helpful and friendly staff this is your place. They also accept pets which is nice as some of us didnt have time to arrange for pet sitters on such short notice.

I guess I was expecting much worse after reading some of the cynical reviews about this place, but I was actually pleasantly surprised.
The room was moderately clean and had a very unique set-​up that included two queen beds inside of a bedroom with double doors that opened up into the living-​room area. Both rooms boasted a decent sized flat screen tv which could nicely cater to a family on vacation or a small group of people traveling.
The staff was very accommodating and the location was perfect– right in the middle of everywhere I had to go. I didn’t really wish to stay in New Haven as it can be a little seedy and traffic is a pain to get around.
My only complaint can be that the price of $ 125/​night was a little steep for a room in an average hotel without a continental breakfast offered.

We had a big family reunion there and took about 12 rooms. The staff was awesome. Connecting rooms and cribs for the kids. A nice small pool for hanging out. The best part was taking the conference room downstairs for buffet dinner. For about $ 22 head we had a big room that was all family. Anyway, they went out of their way in many ways and clearly provided the personal touch that made our event a success!

As a dog owner, I love this pet-​friendly hotel. It’s about half-​way between Boston & NYC, so when I travel with my dog to & from Boston, it’s a good halfway point. I’ve stayed here with my pooch four different times now, and he loves it. They try to reserve the ground floor for people with dogs, so they can exit directly to the outdoors.

just checked in for the presidential suite for one night as a romantic evening… hallways were filthy, lied on bed and fealt a stabbing feeling in my rear end… pulled up sheets to find a pair of scissors… sheets were dirty… either maid didnt change sheets or she left scissors behind… went and said i wanted to check out and get my money back… they refused to credit me back… the place is reminiscent of an atlantic city motel…1 employee on duty who lied to the cops as they were called… STAY AWAY

An odd hotel that must have been a redo of an older motel. Odd halls and an odd shape. The window in my room (and others in that section) was to the hallway! Close to Quinnipiac U, which is why I was there.
